Thoughts on acqua di parma colonia?

I’m a butchy lesbian looking for a new scent to add to my lineup and found a little sample bottle of colonia, i quite like it but I’ve heard it doesn’t last very long. Would it be worth it to buy a bottle? I’d also take recommendations for similar citrusy fresh masculine leaning fragrances.

This was an complete blind buy, never smelled this before. Got a great deal from the 2nd hand market. Needless to say it was a successful blind buy. Only problem is I wish that I got a larger bottle, I only got a 75ml.

Scent- Opens up with a burst of fruits and citrus almost like jolly rancher or life saver candy. It slowly becomes a little quieter and less sweet and a bit more sour/bitter but not overwhelmingly so. It begins to smell like a freshly peeled super juicy orange/grapefruit. As it dries down it becomes slightly woody with a hint of fig, citrus is still mildly present.

Performance- this is an EDT and performance is about average for me. Get abt 6 hours or so from it. For a warm summer day that's plenty. Projection is mild aswell after the opening but can still catch whiffs here and there.

I definitely recommend thus fragrance at the right price. What do yall think abt it?

Acqua di Parma. My favorite 7 samples reviewed.

After reviewing Penhaligon which I still have as my number 1 pick, from all 10 discovery sets that I have this is my number 2 pick as the most pleasing scents to my nose.

I'll start with the ones I liked the most.

‐-------------------------------‐------------------------------------------

  1. Bergamotto di Calabria. First of all I should mention that I've been obsessed with bergamot lately (recommend me the best bergamot focused scent please). This one is tart, edible and makes me hungry. It's definitely a gourmand scent to me, I feel like biting the places where this is sprayed on, I love it so much. Makes me feel clean, refined, confident. If you didn't think shampoo and gourmand don't mix well together try this and you'll see what I mean. The best smelling bergamot forward scent that I've tried so far (I still need to get my hands on bergamote 22).

‐-------------------------------‐------------------------------------------

2. Oud. This one is dark while still feeling clean. Easiest oud scent to pull off. Could definitely be a signature scent. It smells like old cabinets to me that are very well maintained and stuffed with dried orange peels. It's fizzy, it's got that darkness that prada luna rossa black has which I often describe like the fresh asphalt smell.

‐-------------------------------‐------------------------------------------

3. Arancia di Capri. If oranges and hairy peaches had babies this would be the smell of their offspring. My God this isn't just an orange smell it's much more complex to my nose, it's creamy, I really get peach from this and yes the hairy kind smell different, more fruity, than the shaved peaches which are more like plums. Its got a slight sweetness and it's a little bit musky. I love this scent too, very well blended.

‐-------------------------------‐------------------------------------------

4. Cipresso di Toscana. This is amazing. It smells like the Christmas tree. It's like walking through a pine tree forest with a little bit of snow on them and you hear the occasional hungry animal noises that sent you a shiver down the spine, this scent has that chilling effect on me. I was looking for a forest scent and this is perfect for what I was looking for.

‐-------------------------------‐------------------------------------------

5. Quercia. Somehow my brain associates this scent with the smell of sand, go figure. It smells like you grabbed a bunch of dry hot sand with two hands full of sea shells and sniffed it while the breeze of the ocean hits you nose simultaneously and you get a hit of the marine sea salt. I looked the notes which I usually don't do when I try a scent because I was so confused and still nothing makes sense and this still reminds me of sand and beach which is awesome. It's also got a medicinal aftersmell but in a good way. Also this is more feminine imo.

‐-------------------------------‐------------------------------------------

6. Fico di Amalfi. At first I'll be honest, I hated this. It smelled like fig milk, when you first pick a fig from the tree, especially when they are not ripe it has this milk substance that's sticky. When I was a kid I did just that and smelled it and tasted it. Well let me tell you, that shit makes you itch for days and burns like hell. So those memories came back and I just let this sit until I tried it again and yes the hype is real but not my thing, it's a nice fig feminine scent, I'd love this on a girl.

‐-------------------------------‐------------------------------------------

7. Colonia Essenza. My favorite from the Colonia line. Soapy, manly, nice longevity which most of the ADP scents lack in. Just careful with overspraying because with 3 sprays I had a friend of mine tell me I smell like I dumped the aftershave bottle on my clothes.

‐-------------------------------‐------------------------------------------

I have some more from this house but these ones are my favorites. This is a great niche house which is very old and true to its roots. And i believe they deserve to be talked more because their scents are high in quality even though they lack strength and longevity. Recently I have quit smoking and aqua di parma has been a treat on my nose unlike the other beast mode scents that i have that are overwhelming to me now and giving me migraines lol.

This house seems to be oriented towards fresh scents, and they seem to do it well. Why aren't they more popular, and what are they missing, in your opinion?

what do you think about acqua di parma?

I had my first fragrance from acqua di parma. I havent had anything from the brand for a long time because the shops Ive been to never had it. I recently got advice in a different store than usual (a small perfumery in Munich) and they had acqua di parma. after all the other fragrances i have tried, adp stuck with me. an incredible freshness without being overbearing. I immediately bought 3 bottles. one of the best fragrances i currently own. What is your thoughts on adp?

Acqua di Parma Discovery Set review

Don't mind me, just hitting them Italian heritage houses... Carthusia will have to wait for some distant future, though. Sorry.

Past reviews: Stickied in my profile. My last review of fellow Italian veterans Santa Maria Novella might be of most interest, for comparison's sake.

Who is Acqua di Parma? A house born in 1916 in the heart of Parma, obviously enough, they broke ground in the perfume industry through the release of the original Colonia, an unusually light and refreshing fragrance for its time. The popularity of Colonia led the brand to expanding its product range and enjoying high status through the 1930's and 1950's pre- and post-war culture, but eventually they waned until the brand was revived by entrepreneurs in the 1990's and ultimately acquired by French multinational giant LVMH in 2001. (SMN wins this round.) They do, however, still proudly make all their products in Italy.

This is a review of the 10-piece Discovery Set, which for some reason I've seen called the "Recruitment" Set, the "Essential" Set, or even the "Selection" Set depending on source. Well, whatever. It's a really nice, sturdy yellow box with a slip cover and cutouts separated and organized by collection: three Colonia scents, three Blu Mediterrano scents, and four Ingredient Collection scents. However, I had immense trouble spraying multiple samples so that's a bummer. I'd much rather have working atomizers than a snazzy box, though ultimately they did at least all spray eventually.

While best known for their range of Eau de Colognes, AdP does have a wide range of heavier scents as well. Now how do they compare? Tried in left-to-right order as presented in the package, which means moving from the Colonia to the BM to the IC samples:

Colonia (Lemon, Calabrian bergamot, Orange; Lavender, Verbena, Bulgarian rose, Rosemary; Patchouli, Sandalwood, Vetiver)

  • A zingy and somewhat bitter citrus opening plus herbal aromatics. Fresh with a smidge of spicy pizzazz, it has a clean soapy undertone that lends it the aesthetic of an old-fashioned gentleman. The woody base and a soft powdery rose gently peek through as it dries down. Soft projection for 2-3hr, longevity 6-8hr. 4/5

The original classic cologne scent. Pleasant and inoffensive but not a stand-out to me. Perhaps an early modern trendsetter, but in 2023 it's just one of many and by no means my favorite.

Colonia Essenza (Lemon, Neroli, Petitgrain, Bergamot, Grapefruit, Mandarin orange, Orange; Rosemary, Clove, Jasmine, Lily-of-the-valley, Rose; White musk, Vetiver, Amber, Patchouli)

  • Just a richer, deeper Colonia. I find the citrus and herbal notes more prominent here, with the spices and rose toned down. Moderately soft projection for 2-3hr, longevity 6-8hr. 4/5

The sprayer on the vial malfunctioned and what is normally a 30-second affair became ten minutes of twisting the cap around frantically getting the occasional single spray out of it. No real commentary on the fragrance, it's just a slightly tweaked version of the original.

Colonia Pura (Italian bergamot, Italian orange, Paraguayan petitgrain; Jasmine sambac absolute, French narcissus absolute, Russian coriander; Musk, Indonesian patchouli, Virginia cedar)

  • A much fresher version of Colonia. The citruses no longer have that bitter tinge to them, a more prominent jasmine further brightens the scent profile, and the base is more of an ozonic musky experience without the soapiness. Moderate projection fades over 3-4hr, longevity 8-10hr. 4.5/5

This is my favorite version of the three Colonias presented, although C.L.U.B. might be my actual favorite for which I received a free sample a long time ago. (Sorry, I never got to try the original Club.) Pura scrubs away all the bitterness, leaving nothing but pure freshness. Cue another crappy sprayer, ugh.

Arancia di Capri (Italian mandarin orange, Italian orange, Italian lemon; Petitgrain, Cardamom; Musk, Caramel)

  • A watery, uncarbonated citrus juice drink garnished with a single green leaf. Light, fresh, and slightly sweet with creamy undertones. Very soft projection for 2-3hr, longevity 5-6hr. 3.5/5

The perfume equivalent of a glass of water with a lemon wedge on it. Pleasant but so, so weak and so, so forgettable.

Fico di Amalfi (Grapefruit, Italian bergamot; Italian lemon; Fig nectar, Jasmine, Pink pepper; Fig wood, Benzoin, Cedar)

  • Fruity, juicy fig with a touch of rindy citrus and woody base. Soft, powdery, slightly green. Fresh but with a bitter tinge and an almost overripe pungency. Soft projection for 2-3hr, longevity 4-5hr. 2.5/5

I actually sampled this a while ago, when I fell in love with Essential Parfums Fig Infusion and started looking for more fig scents, but this one just doesn't do it for me despite its reputation. I get terrible performance and find the fig to smell borderline rotten.

Mirto di Panarea (Myrtle, Basil, Italian bergamot, Italian lemon; Jasmine absolute, Sea breeze, Damask rose absolute; Mastic absolute, Virginia cedar, Juniper, Amber)

  • Fresh green herbs generously spritzed with fizzy citrus juice. The bergamot smells limey to me here, giving it a lemon-lime effervescence, along with gentle florals carried along by a salty sea breeze. Moderately soft projection fades over 2-3hr, longevity 5-6hr. 4/5

The first (and only) actual marine scent in this kit. I feel this is rather more lively and interesting than Arancia di Capri.

Yuzu (Yuzu, Calabrian bergamot, Sichuan pepper; Jasmine, Mimosa, Violet leaf, Lotus; Musk, Licorice, Sandalwood)

  • An airy floral bouquet with an effervescent citrus and pepper top. Watery but with a soft fizz, like an almost-flat soda. Not especially yuzu-flavored, sadly, as the lemony bergamot kinda dominates it. Moderate initial projection quickly fades to skin over 2-3hr, longevity 6-8hr. 4/5

More going on than Arancia di Capri, but not as much as Mirto di Panarea. Not yuzu-ey enough for my tastes, as a big yuzu fan.

Osmanthus (Green mandarin orange, Neroli; Peony, Ambrette, Pink pepper; Osmanthus, Patchouli)

  • Fresh apricot with a little bit of orange and watery pear, a touch of green, plus light floral notes. A very apricot-forward osmanthus that has a vague shampoo-like cleanliness to it and no leather accord. Soft initial projection strengthens slightly over the first hour and fades back over 2-3hr, longevity 5-6hr. 4.5/5

A pleasantly fruity osmanthus, and a third junky atomizer.

Quercia (Bergamot, Lemon, Pink pepper, Petitgrain; Cedar, Cardamom, Geranium; Oakmoss absolute, Tonka bean absolute, Patchouli)

  • "Oak." A heaping dose of oakmoss popping with pink pepper, cardamom, and fresh citruses. Rich mossy and woody scent speckled with fresh aromatics, warm spices, and lightly sweetened. Dries down to spiced wood. Moderately strong projection for 3-4hr lingers as a modest scent bubble for 5-6hr, longevity 12hr+. 4.5/5

A classically masculine spicy woody scent. Dunno why it's called Oak when it's mostly moss and the only wood note is cedar, but nonetheless it smells pretty great. An EDP with performance that kinda blows everything else in this discovery set out of the water.

Oud (Calabrian bergamot, Italian orange; Oud, Russian coriander, Haitian amyris; Atlas cedar, Indonesian patchouli, Musk, Sandalwood)

  • An earthy, spicy wood scent dressed in a brown leather jacket. This dark, mildly sour oud is sandwiched between a fresh citrus top and Acqua di Parma's signature clean base. The surface gently percolates with fizzy citruses and coriander, and as the freshness fades it dries down to heavily spiced woods, like an extra spicy Quercia. Moderate projection fades over 2-3hr, longevity 10-12hr. 2/5

A good fragrance for a beginner to dip their toes into oud, as it retains a smidge of the more challenging parts while being mostly balanced out by the cleaner aspects of the composition, but it's not to my tastes.

Summary:

  • [4.5/5] Colonia Pura, Osmanthus, Quercia

  • [4/5] Colonia, Colonia Essenza, Mirto di Panarea, Yuzu

  • [3.5/5] Arancia di Capri

  • [2.5/5] Fico di Amalfi

  • [2/5] Oud

Second point to SMN: Acqua Della Regina is still the supreme ruler of classic cologne scents. 🥴 But I still had fun exploring this set. It's almost refreshing to actually run into a couple scents I dislike, which I haven't run into in my reviews since Loumari's Nayssabour almost six months ago, incidentally another sour oud fragrance. Acqua di Parma's retail prices are utterly laughable, but they're actually a decent bargain on discounters so that's nice. I'd say Quercia is my favorite of the set.

Until next time, o faithful readers!

Let's talk about Acqua di Parma!

Over the last few weeks I've been testing the Colonia and Blu Mediterraneo line from Acqua di Parma. Following are some of my thoughts:

Colonia (the OG): I definitely get a barbershop vibe from the opening; it comes across as an old world fragrance. Gets very soapy on me in the drydown and it felt rather dense for a citrus scent -- not the kind of refreshment one might expect from a classic eau de cologne. Not my favourite from the line, perhaps I need more time with it in order to "get" it -- undoubtably a timeless classic though!

Colonia Intensa: Very interesting with notes of woods, cardamom, benzoin, and myrrh. Probably the most masculine leaning scent out of the Colonia line (the other ones are mostly unisex). An older gentleman in a suit comes to mind.

Colonia Pura: That's the most modern interpretation of the original Colonia in my opinion. Ozonic notes, white florals, an almost metallic smell at times. Didn't exactly wow me, but it's very versatile and mass-appealing.

Colonia Essenza: I was very curious to try this one, since it gets hyped quite a bit in the FragCom. What can I say -- neroli, various citrus notes, petitgrain, jasmin, musk, etc. This basically smells like Neroli Portofino Forte for a fraction of the price. I'm no fan of neroli, so it isn't for me, but I guess it's a well-made fragrance and a successful reinterpretation of Colonia.

Colonia Club: The green bottle is a good foretaste of what is to expect. One word: MINT. That's the main player of this flanker and it smells like Green Irish Tweed too. Sharp and fresh, and gives you a real boost in the morning -- almost has a menthol-like effect.

Bergamotto di Calabria: Pretty much the top note of Dior Homme Cologne, but for the whole life span of this fragrance -- which sadly is abysmal. I tried this one on a hot day, basically showered myself with it and by the time I got home (30-40 minutes later), I couldn't smell anything. So, while the scent itself smells natural and very likeable, the lackluster performance was a dealbreaker (and almost 100€ for 75ml isn't too cheap either).

Cipresso di Toscana: Notes of cypress, pine trees, and vetiver make this smell like you're walking through a forest. Not a bad smell at all, but not my cup of tee.

Chinotto di Liguria: Very tart with a sparkling opening. Slightly herbal and floral in the drydown. Didn't like it too much to be honest, but it does smell high-quality.

Mandorlo di Silicia: This truly is the odd one out from the Blu Mediterraneo line. I didn't get many citrus notes at all, the main players here are almond, vanilla, and star anise -- but without making this fragrance overly sweet or cloying. It also has a milky quality to it -- it almost smelled like vanilla milk to me, which I loved as a child. Overall I find it quite unique and I haven't come across any other fragrance that smelled like it. Probably my favorite from the BM line, but I wouldn't wear it in high heat.

Fico di Amalfi: It's an alright fig fragrance that has gotten a lot of hype. This one has the best performance by far from all the BL line.

Mirto di Panerea: Opens with a sharp, aromatic smell -- a very herbal concoction. One of the more feminine fragrances from the collection in my opinion. It's refreshing for sure, but I didn't care too much for this one.

Arancia di Capri: One of the best orange fragrances I've come across thus far (and I've smelled quite a lot). This one smells like a straight up orange whereas Orange Sanguine smells like orange juice. It's fruity, juicy, and sweet -- I even got whiffs of caramel in the drydown. Performance is so-so, somewhere between Bergamotto di Calabria and Fico di Amalfi. This one is definitely my favorite summer scent from the whole collection and I'm considering getting a whole bottle.

Anyway, I would love to hear what you guys think about Acqua di Parma -- what are you favorites and which ones do you own?

And has anyone here tried the Signatures of the Sun or the Notes di Colonia collection?

Whats your all time favourite Acqua Di Parma Fragrance?

Hello Guys,

A little bit about me: Im a big fan of ADP. I like them mainly because they are not so obtrusive and quite elegant. Unfortunately they dont last that long.

I dont have a favorite perfume, rather three favorites.

  1. Cedro Di Taormina

  2. Oud

  3. Colonia

Now to you. Which perfume is your favorite or favorites?

Cheers

So I’m going on short week trip to visit some family in the south of the United States. Temperatures for the upcoming week are going to be in the 90s so the freshies need to come out.

I plan on wearing Acqua Di Parma exclusive for the week. This is my favorite house and I believe it is criminally underrated. So it made me wonder what are your favorite Acqua Di Parma scents.

Acqua Di Parma Oud Review

I won't beat around the bush, I cannot stand Oud. Coming from a family who loves the smell Oud I have always been the odd one out, it's always been too strong for me and I end up with a migraine.

I went shopping, to sample ADP leather.

The lady working for ADP insisted I try ADP Oud, I kindly rejected the offer and told her Oud fragrance are far too strong for me. I was expecting to reject it immediately but it hit me, smooth, elegant, luxurious, a very well blended leather, Oud and bergamot.

It's strong, masculine, animalistic, musky and citrusy something I'd never go for at all, I sprayed myself and just fell in love with it and got many compliments throughout the day.

I've ended up with a 180ml bottle of the perfume, it's not offensive, you can definitely wear this at work, home, and outings and to me at least this is a all year round fragrance.

Sillage 5/5 - The combination of leather and Oud is just simply divine it leaves a gorgeous scent trail. The opening 30 minutes to an hour you can smell the leather, bergamot and Oud, it then mellows down to a luxurious niche Oud scent.

Longevity 5/5 - Longevity 10 - 12+ hours on my skin and if you spray it on your clothes 24 hours.

Scent 5/5 - Like I said, I am not a fan of Oud but this blown me away, never thought I'd smell a well blended Oud fragrance.

Performance 5/5 - Go easy on the trigger 2/3 spray is enough and this will project like a beast, like any fragrance if you over spray expect people to get annoyed. I do end up having to wash my neck, it's just that strong.

I would 100% recommend this if you are after a niche Oud fragrance, something you may need to sample beforehand, try getting it with discount.

more reviews as i search or my spring wedding fragrance! (le labo, jo malone, acqua di parma, goutal paris, diptyque, chanel)

my preferences: i am a gen z woman who loves all things rice, apple, violet, iris, rose, lilac and honey. i love more feminine and floral-leaning scents. some of my favorites are tocca "giuletta", nest "wisteria blue", and ysl libre flankers. it's difficult because i like memorable fragrances, but i also like more popular notes.

my ranking system: i read the post about what is helpful in a fragrance review posted yesterday (thanks u/Bobby_Lawn!) and decided to implement some of the comments! i know there was some debate about the 1-10 system, so i decided to explain it here. i am looking for a fragrance that fit this criteria (a 10 would accomplish all of these things):

  1. unapologetically springy and feminine. i want to feel like a fairy princess flying through a flower garden. this will most likely be a floral, but i can be convinced of some fruit.

  2. unique, and i cannot have owned this fragrance before. i don't want to smell this fragrance all the time on other people. i know some of these are relatively popular, but i probably won't find this scent at sephora or ulta (although i may include some scents from there).

  3. i need to be able to smell this all day (touch-ups are ok, but still) and smell it on myself. i want to associate this day with this fragrance, without looking like im snorting crack off my wrist in all of my photos

*****for all fairness, there are some ones in here that i loved, but i didn't think fit the criteria of what i wanted for the wedding. i do have tastes outside of these points, so i marked those with a ":)".******

REVIEWS:

le labo ambrette 9 edp (unisex, spring/summer, daytime): ambrette, apple, pear, lemon, amber

baby wipes and rubbing alcohol. it's way too light and has nonexistent projection, even if i was to like the smell (which i don't). i was told this would be right up my alley because it has pear and apple... and i'm not too sure about that. it took me about 5 minutes to actually smell it. there was a moment where i genuinely had the thought "does this smell like... nothing?" it's not for me, and definitely not what i wanted on my wedding day. i want the scent to be memorable to me, and i can't do that if the smell isn't there.

1/10.

jo malone sakura cherry blossom (feminine, spring, daytime): bergamot, orange, mimosa, cherry blossom, rose, rosewood

meh. it's rose-heavy and pretty, but there's something that it's missing. it falls very flat, and i think it's that it's just very straightforward and light. i have been trying to find the dior sakura one, and feel like i would like that one, but i saw this one in sephora and had to try it. jo malone's isn't very complex or woody. it disappears very quickly and i wish i got any of the rosewood that is listed in the notes. the sillage is also incredibly weak, and i want to be able to smell myself throughout the day. it's pretty, but very generic and not the impression i was looking for.

3/10.

acqua di parma peonia nobile (feminine, spring/summer, day/night): peony, rose, raspberry, black pepper, freesia, amber, patchouli

i mentioned in my request post that i was looking for something with a pretty bottle. one of my wedding colors is pink, so this fits the bill. it's fruity, rosy, and a little spicy. it dries down very light, but is linear enough that the entire scent doesn't change. the longevity and sillage is better than some of the others, but it's not the most pleasant that it redeems the scent. i love peony as a note, but this wasn't exactly what i had in mind. it smells a little too synthetic and not complex enough for me.

5/10. not what i'm looking for, but pretty!

goutal paris rose pompon (feminine, any season, day/night): raspberry, grapefruit, rose, violet, vanilla

hm. i have conflicting feelings. i don't know if i like the way the grapefruit or fruitiness is done here. it comes off a little headache-inducing and screechy. the longevity is just ok, and the sillage is pretty weak. i don't smell it on myself at all after i spray it. it comes off a little young and teenage-y, like something i could find in a victoria's secret for prom. then again, i'm not much older than that so who am i to judge lol. it dries down a little creamier, and starts to warm up into something better, but after i tried some of these next scents, it knocked it down for me.

5.5/10

le labo lavende 31 edp (unisex, spring/summer/fall, day): neroli, bergamot, lavender, musk, tonka, amber

this is a very clean lavender. much softer than many of the other lavenders ive tried. id say chanel jersey is the softer, cozier alternative to this much more bright, energetic scent. this one is for a sunny day, jersey is for a rainy one. it's a little lower on my list because of how unisex it is, but i still like it. i appreciate how long-lasting it is!

8.5/10. will MAYBE full size, but probably just get a travel. idk.

diptyque do son edp (feminine, spring/summer, day/night): tuberose, orange leaf, musk

the pretty light floral to end all pretty light florals. an incredibly realistic, linear tuberose scent that's just so refreshing. it's more green than powdery to me and has a honeysuckle note to my nose. i was afraid it would come off stuffy or heavy, but diptyque pulls off a lightness in this floral that i find very rare. i think i audibly sighed when the sales associate let me smell it. it's so cozy, like you're a bumblebee sleeping on a cloud of white tuberose petals. stunning.

9/10. will full size.

chanel jersey (aka les exclusifs de chanel jersey) (feminine, any season, day): lavender, vanilla, tonka, rose, jasmine, musk, grass

gorgeous, perfect, amazing. not a wedding scent though. i WILL full size! this was an instant love for me, but it didn't click as "the one". i'm glad fragrance collecting is a hobby of mine lol. it's elegant, classic, and yet not generic. i love softer, lavender scents for winter, and this will be mine for sure. it has everything that i love about libre with the uniqueness i miss about it. i also love that it doesn't have a citrus note, it makes the scent all the more creamy and delicious, and so perfect year-round. my only gripes were that it doesn't last the longest, but the sillage is alright.

9/10. will full size :)

le labo iris 39 edp (unisex, early spring/all of fall/all of winter, day/night): iris, violet, ylang-ylang, rose, cardamom, musk, patchouli

gosh, this is pretty. it's green and a darker floral, kind of like a painting of flowers in a castle. it's rich and earthy, and i love the way it feels on me. there must be some sort of tea note, it's very soft, but there. i feel very elegant when i wear this one. it lasts a good amount of time, about 3 hours, and the sillage is pretty strong. i'm learning that my tastes have changed a lot over these reviews lol. y'all will be shocked with the winner on my next post.

10/10. gorgeous, and cannot stop thinking about it. will full size. :)

diptyque eau rose edp: (feminine, spring/summer, day): litchi, black currant, bergamot, rose, geranium, jasmine, musk, virginia cedar, white honey

i am a rose lover. i own many rose scents, such as aerin "rose de grasse", nui cobalt "bee kind to yourself", etc. y'all. this may be it. this may be the most straightforward, perfect, pretty rose i've found. it has a shorter longevity and intimate sillage, but is incredibly realistic. it's clean, almost aquatic, and green, and smells like a rose garden after a spring storm. the watery-ness is what gets me about this one. if aerin rose de grasse is my winter scent, this is my spring one. stunning.

9.5/10. will full size.

diptyque fluer de peau edp (feminine, spring/summer, day/night): aldehydes, pink pepper, angelica, bergamot, iris, turkish rose, musk, ambrette (musk mallow), carrot, ambergris, sandalwood, leather, amberwood

isn't it poetic that we started and ended with an ambrette note? the biggest thing i noticed about this scent is that she has amazing longevity, i still smell it on my clothes two days later. i could also smell it on myself throughout the day, so the sillage is pretty great, too! the diptyque saleswoman told me this was inspired by a greek love story, and thats all i can imagine as i smell this. it's an intimate, soft, scent warmed up by some wood and a earthy green note. the carrot seed takes this to another level. one of my favorites is mm replica's lazy sunday morning, and i have seen this compared to that. this is the more complex, floral version of that, in my opinion. it has a green-ness and warmth to it that lazy sunday morning does not.

10/10, will full size. :)? do i change all of my criteria to allow this? on paper, i should hate this- why am i so baffled by this stunning scent? either way, i've learned a lot about my fragrance tastes so far. the most important lesson is that the real "spring wedding scent" is the friends we made along the way.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

to try next: i'm thinking of trying byredo la tulipe, guerlain (literally any cherry scent lol), penhaligons the coveted duchess rose, penhaligon's lavandula, amouage lilac love, giardini di toscana celeste, dior sakura, + guerlain idylle next! feel free to recommend further ones!
