Band comments on future of Anberlin

Hey everyone, for those that weren't at the final show last night I thought I would share what the band members said on stage about the future. They've been very careful not to put timeframes on anything in case Stephen never comes back to touring, but they were a little more candid last night.

Stephen said he's decided to take a break, and he doesn't know for how long, but that "it could be 2 years, it could be 6 months, I don't know how long". Stephen also said that as long as fans keep listening, they will continue to make new music, "that's a promise".

Christian then said that Stephen called him to discuss the hiatus and Stephen was wrestling with the decision, he didn't want to let down the band or the fans, and that ultimately it was a brave decision to put his family first and hand over the keys to a band he has cultivated much of his life. Christian mentioned the "tumultuous last 5 years" including breaking up and getting back together, and that they "couldn't do that again to the fans" which is why they've decided to carry on with a new touring singer.

Stephen also did say on the first night that he is taking a break primarily due to his family. Just thought I would note that because previously it was said that part of the reason was to "focus on his career" but that might be a less important reason.

So while I was glad to be at what was potentially Stephen's last show, if I had to bet I would say he won't be gone for too long. I'd say it's gonna be closer to 2 years than 6 months, but I'm sure he'll be back one day, and in the meantime the rest of the band have zero intentions of slowing down which is great.

Anberlin concerts: kid friendly?

Anberlin concerts: kid friendly?

I’ve been a huge fan since 2007 and they’re finally touring to a location near me. My daughter is hoping to attend her first concert and she loves listening to them as well, for those of you that have attended concerts of theirs before, how was the vibe? Could I get away with bringing my daughter? I figured since they’re technically a previous Christian rock band that the environment may be a bit friendlier (ie, no drug use or fighting). Thoughts?

A subreddit for discussion of Brand New. They were active from 2001 to 2017 and released five full-length albums during their career.

I’ve been diving into the albums deeper than just my regular faves recently and I forgot how amazing they are!

Sort of metalcore. Matty Mullins to be the vocalist for Anberlin for the time being.

Anberlin in Brazil

Found this video of them in Brazil from 2010, playing Naive Orleans with a Brazilian band. There's something so sick about hearing a crowd of Brazilians shouting "when my heart's lost in New Orleans". They knew the lyrics to a song that was already 5 years old at that point. They might not be the most popular band ever but you can't say they didn't have a certain level of impact.
