Alvin Kamara and Christian McCaffrey have had virtually identical production in their careers.

I was skimming through pro football reference yesterday, and was looking at Kamara and CMC's career stats. They have essentially had the exact same production in their careers.

Player Carries Rush Yards Receptions Receiving Yards Touches Scrimmage Yards TDs
Alvin Kamara 1,204 5,396 465 3,930 1,669 9,326 72
Christian McCaffrey 1,150 5,324 468 3,984 1,618 9,308 71
Difference 54 72 3 54 51 18 1

Both were drafted in 2017. Kamara has played in a few more games, but they have still had almost the same amount of carries and receptions. McCaffrey gets slightly more work on a per game basis, but maybe that's contributed to him missing more time due to injury as well.

Overall though, it's kinda crazy that after 6.5 seasons, two elite RBs from the same draft class are only separated by 18 scrimmage yards and 1 touchdown.

Edit: if you prefer to look at the stats on Instagram Bleacher Report has you covered

If Alvin Kamara Had Played Since Week 1

He has the second highest average points after Christian McCaffrey and would comfortably be RB2 if he'd played every game this season.

Kamara has 320 rushing yards and 2 rushing TDs but that's not why in PPR leagues he's been an absolute beast. Kamara has 39 receptions for 228 yards for 1 receiving TD. 60% of Kamara's points have come from receiving.

Alvin Kamara had almost 1500 yards last year missing two games.

People act like he is washed. People worried that a career JAG Jamaal Williams and an unreliable rookie Kendre Miller who has shown nothing are gonna ruin his value. Two guys the Saints love so much they almost signed Krispy Kreme Hunt. News flash!: He is still gonna be a RB1 this year and for those that can weather the storm the first three weeks the fruits of his loins will replenish you and your team.

Alvin Kamara

The lack of injury news is concerning. The only stuff we have to go off of is Alvin’s statement that he is playing.. which is exactly what happened last week and he didn’t play.

That being said, what Saints are you trusting to pick up the slack?

To note: the Seahawks allow the 4th most PPR fantasy points to RBs this season.

Edit: Shefty is saying he’s gonna play. Meats back on the menu boys!

Alvin Kamara Cap Casualty

There seems to be this widespread belief that the saints will only save $1M in cap if they cut Kamara.

This is wrong.

They will save $11,682,353 if they cut him AFTER June 1st. With a dead cap hit of only $7,077,000. They could use a Post-June 1 designation on him in order to reap these benefits prior to the March cap deadline.

You can find his contract details here: https://overthecap.com/player/alvin-kamara/5653

The Saints are currently close to $83,000,000 over the cap in 2024. I expect Kamara to either be forced to restructure, or get cut after June 1st.
