Gave me tonal whiplash, played the remaster, then got like a fair ways into alan wake 2 and thought, wait a minute, aren't I doing myself a disservice by not playing American nightmare. I was. This well lit, cheesy beer commercial of a game fuckin slaps. It's stupid, because alan wake is stupid, and I love him for it. And it proves anyone whose fool enough to not gamble on a remedy product is dumber then a bag of alan wakes. Course, I think, had I played this when it released, I'd have had a largely negative reaction, and probably just a much fun playing it. I wanna know what yall think. Anyone else have a unrealistic and silly dream of another American nightmare

A few months ago, I decided to play Alan Wake for the first time in order to refresh my memory with the story. After I finished the game, I decided that I was gonna play American Nightmare as well, but then I saw an article saying that it was a spin-off game so it wasn't considered canon to the story. But after playing Alan Wake 2, I saw some comments saying that American Nightmare was important to understanding the story of the sequel. So I guess I would like some confirmation to whether or not it is canon.

The observatory and telescope shown in the game look very realistic. Remedy seems to be inspired by real-life objects and I wanted to understand what they were.
The action takes place in Arizona where there are many observatories but none of them seemed suitable. Instead, I found that the main and secondary buildings of Mount Redtooth National Observatory are very similar to those of Cerro Tololo Observatory, Chile.

I finished Alan Wake's American nightmare and I was wondering, what do people think about the game? Is it good or bad? Is it easy? What is your opinion on arcade action? Do you count it as a sequel or a spin-off? Any other thoghts you might have.

After searching through numerous sources, debates about the original game itself - I find that the DLC doesn't get talked about as nearly as it deserves. What was YOUR favourite part from the game? Would you like to see it referred in the upcoming game? My favourite aspect of it was definitely the three new characters we got: Emma Sloan, Dr. Rachel Meadows and Serena Valdivia. Despite the short playtime of the game, Remedy definitely found a way to make these three characters unique and very memorable in my opinion. I'm also a sucker for the concept of a time loop so it hit the mark there as well. Not to mention the use of amazing soundtrack we love Remedy for.
