Adventures in Babysitting Snorlax

The 10yo who introduced me to Pokemon (yes I am that old) is off on a three-day class trip.

At 6:30am I was entrusted with their device, their passcode, and their feeding strategy because I am now their Snorlax-sitter.

(Actually, I got the simplified feeding strategy because the first set of instructions was obviously too much for me.)

End of day, my own Snorlax is at 36k+; theirs is at 50k+.

Kid is kicking my butt here.
Turns out the April Pokemon Sleep Championship is real and I’m losing.

————

Update: it’s all over but the crying. The child is headed home and will return to find their Snorlax just two good meals away from Master while mine is not yet in Ultra.

Admittedly, this was a long-term preparations week for me: breaking ground on Cyan, starting to raise up my Water types—

— but if I am going to tell you that, I also have to tell you that for months I’ve been slipping little “helpful adult“ comments to this kid about not sentimentally trying to “save” and raise up every single Pokie and making good budget choices. Meanwhile this middle schooler was assembling and raising up killer targeted dish teams with zero access to Research Community candies. Talk about long term preparations.

I think I better start asking their advice.

Scott Hasn't Seen: Adventures In Babysitting (1987) w/ Joe Wengert

This week, Scott and Sprague watch 1987's Adventures In Babysitting, directed by Chris Columbus and starring a young Elisabeth Shue. Joining them is actor, writer and comedian Joe Wengert! What made him choose this movie? Will Roger Ebert's favorite scene win them over, or will Scott sing the blues??

Next week: Natural Born Killers (1994)
