Adjustable dumbbells?

EDIT: I ended up going with the Bowflex ones. I was able to buy them local and we also have the store credit card, no interest and payment plan for 24 months (we bought some other stuff too). Unfortunately we’ve been sick so haven’t been able to get them out yet :/

Hubby and I have decided to cancel the gym membership. I don’t have a lot of space for an at home gym so am looking at the adjustable dumbbells.

Any brands you like/would recommend? Ones to avoid? Are they a bad idea altogether? I’ll be saving up for awhile and want them to last.

Thank you!!

Best Adjustable Dumbbells?

Just looking for a set of adjustable dumbbells. Looking to obviously not spend a ton, but I keep going back to the bowflex pair for $400+.

Just wanted to see if anyone here had them or another brand that they would recommend. I only really need 5/10 to 50ish pounds, but would gladly go up to around 90 if there are any out there that are worth it.

Adjustable Dumbbells that are worth the price

Web searches always come up with several "recommended" sets. Bowflex and PowerBlock are most common. From the pictures, it looks like Bowflex uses plastic for their dials and a even a cheap looking plastic handgrip. For ~$400, I want to make sure it will last.

Its hard to find sets available in-person to inspect and feel. Was hoping someone on this subreddit had some suggestions!

Eisenlink 80lb Adjustable Dumbbells Review

I ordered two 80LB adjustable dumbbells from eisenlink's website for $498. Although they also sell on Amazon, the price is cheaper on the official website (I think because Amazon takes commission).

I can't find any review of eisenlink dumbbells, and I had never heard of eisenlink before.

The dumbbell looks really like the ironmaster - that's what caught my attention in the first place. I personally really like ironmaster's adjustable dumbbells because I'm a stickler for durability, the ironmaster was actually my dream adj dumbbells.

Eisenlink designed a U-slot and an elliptical void for the dumbbell weights. Do not need to pull out the whole screw to lift the dumbbell weight. While that still doesn't make it adjust as fast as the nuo, but it's certainly convenient enough. It takes me about 20 seconds to change the weight each time.

There are two different weight: 5LB and 2.5LB.

The 2.5LB weights must be placed on the outer end, and you need to increase the 5LB by adding two 2.5LB weights, or replacing the 2.5LB dumbbells with two 5LB weights. Simple and practical solution, hopefully in the future they can introduce support for 2.5LB increments weights.

2.5lb weights5lb weights

I tried to drop dumbbell from the height of my bench (about 17.5") onto my foam mat. There was no problem with the dumbbells and the screws were not loosened. Since I use a foam mat with weak support, I try not to drop the dumbbells as much as possible, but I don't want an accident to turn them into a pile of scrap metal.

Dumbbell handles are all knurled, glad they didn't save costs in places like this.

My ideal maximum weight is up to 90LB, but the eisenlink dumbbells only support up to 80lb.  I asked eisenlink if they would consider offering enhanced accessories like ironmaster, they said would release accessories in 2024 that would allow up to 160lb per dumbbell.

Adjustable dumbbells with strength classes

I have a garage gym but hate dragging dumbbells back and forth. I’m thinking of getting a set of adjustable dumbbells for my living room to use with the Guide. I’m curious if the speed of class call outs makes it difficult to keep up while switching the load on the adjustable dumbbells? The ones I’m looking at getting are the rapid adjust ones from nordictrack.

thank you for all the input!! I have separate 5’s and 10’s that are always out here since my husband doesn’t use them. I did end up ordering the adjustable dumbbells just to have heavier weights available to me when needed and it was a better deal than buying separate heavy ones

Adjustable dumbbells and strength classes?

I’d love to get more into the strength classes, but don’t have the room for a rack of dumbbells. Does anyone use adjustable dumbbells, like the Bowflex models, for strength classes? Would you recommend it? Any issues?
