Acid Betty

I posted this in reply to a comment about Acid Betty but someone suggested I make a post about so everyone can know the vindication of being right about some season 8 Acid Betty T:

I went to one of her performances and brought her a giant blunt and since I've been to about 5 of her shows and been the only one who consistently knows all of the words to her music, we smoked it together after the performance and meet and greet. We both got high enough that words were getting sloppy. Her elimination had crushed me so I told her the pic of her riding away in the van at the end of Untucked had been my screensaver ever since (while my best friend cringed and begged me to stop talking but that clearly wasn't happening). So obviously since we were talking about her elimination I had to ask her if it was true that she had said something that pissed Ru off and that's the real reason she got eliminated. She started laughing and said she had had words with Ru and that it really pissed her off. My best friend jumped in and asked if she really told Ru that she had no room to judge because Mathu created all of her looks now. Acid Betty confirmed and CACKLED and asked how we had managed to find all of this out. All I said was "reddit." It was a really great night and that bitch loooooves to smoke. The bar was closed and we had been on the patio smoking for about an hour so when we went in the bartenders were trying to get us to leave and she said she wasn't leaving until she got her check. Pay my sister.

So there we have it! It was all true, she really was a shady bitch and I love her for it.

Sidenote: If you ever wanna hang with a Rugirl after a gig bring them a blunt and give it to them at a meet and greet. They love it. Even Willam was like a sweet little girl when we handed him that green.

And I'm not talking about just her looks. The way she talks and throws shade is just so DIVA-ish, and we've never had such a queen before. She is like a Final Fantasy villain in real life and I am getting obsessed with her. She's also really talented. She can make outfits and lipsyncs decent enough (according to 1st and 2nd episode) and we'll see If she can nail the acting and singing gig in the next episodes. If she does, she deserves a place in the top 3 (...no matter what some rumors say)

Where a queen not only fairly beats someone that production clearly cared about more, but changed the course/narrative of the entire season.

Like it was clear that, after Fame’s lip syncing skills in S7, production probably thought fashion girls wouldn’t bring it to a lipsync, so they casted Naomi as someone disposable to save Acid from going home. The first few episodes of Naomi were just fights with Derrick, and placing in the middle for the beginning of the competition.

Acid was posed to be a major threat to Bob and Thorgy as part of the New York girls, and she placed in the top (with critiques) for 3/5 episodes and then a yellow safe the episode before her eliminated. Acid was most likely also going to be the villain of the season.

And that was until the Snatch Game when Naomi demolished Acid and production decided to go with her instead of against her for the rest of the season.

What does everyone think of her? I’m a newer fan and watching season 8 for the first time. I’ve learned my lesson on giving my “hot takes” on this sub so I just want to hear yours! 🤣 I’m curious what the general consensus is on her and what she’s been up to after the show. You can tell me you think about the other queens of season 8, too!

So because I'm on break I FINALLY made it out to one of Chicago's many excellent viewing parties, hosted by Kim Chi. Special shoutout to the lovely and talented Trannika Rex for co hosting and busting her butt to walk around with a mike during Q&A stuff.

OK so the T! -Acid Betty showed up (out of drag) about 5 min into untucked, which was a really fun surprise. She sat on the base of the stage and also answered questions and was all around a total sweetheart! (more on that later)

-Jade Sotomayor also showed up, in Kim Possible drag! Didn't have any questions asked to her but was a delight and fun treat.

-Kim was so polite and funny and almost bro-y which was adorable. She answered every single question as best as she could, and stayed late to take pictured with every single person.

-Apparently during last week's untucked Betty shaded Trixie even harder than what we saw, but felt bad about stealing Kim's moment and apologized afterwards. The two are pretty good friends.

-Bob is notorious for looking directly into all the cameras before saying anything, and talked NONSTOP the entire season. Kim laughed that Bob would kind of just start talking in the workroom and if you made eye contact would start walking slowly towards you, talking.

-Apparently untucked takes about 2 hours, and Bob talks the entire time. Both Betty and Kim said it was almost like Bob was hosing his own talk show during untucked.

-The "Big black BEAN" drop from Team NY's song was Betty's idea, but they cut her talking about it.

-Kim shaded Naomi (in a fun way) about having no storyline

-Apparently Ru never looks directly at the girls when talking to them. This was established day 1 when she walked into the workroom and all the girls were lined up for Ru's entrance. The director told them "All eyes on Ru. Notice that Ru's eyes are not on you." They both thought this was really funny.

-The fight between Bob and Lucien was MUCH longer than we got to see, and MUCH more intense. Betty said he went off about Lorde for a really, really long time and she and Thorgy just stood there uncomfortably.

-They had a food budget this season! There was a snack table in the workroom that Kim and Derrick used to spend a lot of time at and fight over certain snacks.

-Both Kim and Betty had only sweet things to say about Derrick, and that she was a lot of fun to work with, but sometimes would just glaze over when you spoke to her and would say something weird about how they looked

-Acid Betty: Biggest surprise of the night. SO SO sweet, down to earth, and funny. I'm bummed she's getting a bitchy edit because she was so easy to talk to and even though she was out of drag/just visiting, she stayed and took pictures with everyone, too. Seeing her and talking with her, I'm now totally #TeamAcidBetty.

You may also remember me as the lady who knit hats/hat for cats, and was going to bring some with me to Divas of Drag. I actually brought some with me for the viewing and gave one to Kim (who was really adorable and thankful and sweet) and Betty. Betty actually TOOK OFF THE HAT SHE WAS WEARING to put on this weird, fuzzy ear hat I made and WORE IT FOR THE REST OF THE NIGHT. I felt like the most special sunflower in the world. Seriously, she was so cool.

All in all, excellent night. Thorgy and Betty are preforming in Chicago tonight (Roscoe's at 11) and if you can get out there, go do it! I'll be there! Naomi is hosting next week at Roscoe's and then Kim is back the week after that.

EDIT: TOTALLY forgot! Thorgy wig T! Apparently to fit her dreads into the wig, she wears two wigs all the time; the first one is like a base with the top cut out, which she sticks her dreads into, and then the second one is pretty much just for her dreads.

SECOND EDIT: you are all gonna make a girl ugly cry up in here! I was saying "ugly mug" as a joke but real talk, I'm having some serious self-esteem issues these days, so this was really really kind of you all. Fuck whoever says this subreddit is "bitchy" and "full of drama," y'all are some of the best people out there with the best hearts.

THIRD EDIT: More T courtesy of ! -Acid was totally prepared for Michelle to read her for never wearing boobs. But apparently she has a genderqueer child so that's why Acid thinks she's into that look now.

-Acid was asked to audition for the show.

-This was the first time Kim auditioned.

-Acid is totally #TeamChiChi and they were really good friends but ep2 just decided there was beef between them so they edited out all the parts of them being nice to each other
