Aaron Carter (and the Carter family)

I was listening to the Amy winehouse episode and it’s so tragic. And her father using her for money, the friends who had to separate themselves due to addiction and what this person became … the back and forth… made me think about Aaron Carter, who is close to my heart.

There’s a good Behind The Blinds episode about him (episode 65) - the hosts are super respectful imo and it’s not exploitive.

Aaron Carter had SO many people who took advantage of him and exploited him. And I think so many people hear of him and remember some pop heart throb teen boy, maybe they remember him on Lizzie McGuire, a lot of people get him confused with Jesse McCartney, etc.

But his life is an absolute tragedy. He def wasn’t a saint and he did some shitty stuff, but it’s impossible to imagine how he could have done better. The people who were supposed to protect him not only failed him but exploited him.

He was 9 when his first album was released, but even then he wasn’t new to stardom.

It’s awful to think history is likely to not only forget him and how talented he was, but to roll their eyes on someone who never had a chance. There’s so much we can learn from what we know about his life.

One of the first things that happened after his death were leaked photos, by his MOTHER, of the scene, AND a memoir -unfinished- that he had decided he did NOT want to ever become public was announced to be released. Like his body hadn’t even left the house before people are working to profit off him. It was such a depressing, but perfect illustration of his life.

I hadn’t known until his twin sister’s interview with People that he had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and multiple personality disorder when he went to rehab after their sister and then father’s death. I feel so bad for his sister. :(

Would love if Sarah had the hosts from Behind The Blinds on an episode to talk about it or something. I think it’s a story that deserves to exist outside of just magazines and celebrity content.

Aaron Carter Posthumous Album

I don't quite know where to post this, so I apologize if this is inappropriate, but I just have to talk about this. Also I'm on Mobil so formatting.

As most of us are aware, Aaron Carter sadly passed away on November 5th. What I was unaware of, was that he had been working hard on his new album "Blacklisted."

Originally set to release around Aaron's upcoming birthday (December 7th), Blacklisted was released on Novemeber 7th just two days after Aaron's death as an "homage" to Carter.

If you haven't heard it, the production quality is terrible. Songs that could have sounded so beautiful with just a little more polishing, are completely ruined by the lackluster effort. I make music, and it made me so angry to hear all the easy things they could have done to make it better (turning up auto tune settings, properly compressing vocals, a proper master, etc.), but ultimately chose not to.

My theory, let me stress theory, is that Aaron's producers wanted to profit off his death. So rather than taking the time (and money) to make it a finished product, they released an unmixed version from their recently deceased artist to capitalize on his death and ultimately line their pockets.

There is literally a song on the album that has 30 seconds of dead air after the initial song ends. Most of the vocals sound unmixed and unpolished, and I'm pretty sure they didn't even master it (which is insane). I genuinely don't think they even listened to the album before they released it.

I iust feel this is so disrespectful to Aaron and his family. Aaron was very excited and proud of this album. He never would have wanted us to hear it like this and it just breaks my heart.

I would love to petition Spotify to take the album off their platform until Aaron's producers can release a true final product. I have no idea if this is possible but I just wanted to draw attention to this.

For reference, here's the current album: https://open.spotify.com/album/4e3Yxw1cZC8PybkQCA3obF?si=6jkdaVYUQVemXS7WhLsy6w&utm_source=copy-link
