Theory: A Quiet Place is well-liked among people who are generally averse to horror, and horror fans generally find it fine-to-weak

This is colloquial but all of my friends who hate horror movies all really liked A Quiet Place. Myself and friends who tend to be into horror movies found it sort of fine, but ultimately disappointing.

Which makes me think - maybe the lack of gore + presence of appealing stars (Krasinski and Emily Blunt) defanged it enough for people who normally wouldnt be into horror movies?

Have you noticed this trend, or is it localized directly in my own life?

In the movie A Quiet Place, why is someone pregnant?

In the movie A Quiet Place, why is someone pregnant?

When my husband and I watched A Quiet Place with Emily Blunt and Jon Krasinski, we kept shouting at the screen saying “whyyyyyyy are you having a baby you idiot”! If your planet has been invaded by aliens that hunt by sound, why would you want to have a baby? First off, why would you want to bring a child into that world. Second, babies and toddlers make a lot of noise and they can’t be controlled or silenced. I got the impression in the movie that her pregnancy was intentional, to “make up for” that dumb kid that had that died because he didn’t listen to his parents and got himself killed. My husband and I were discussing that this is exactly the kind of irrationality and selfishness that so many breeders have. The desire to make a new human takes over the ability to get by in life. No money? Have a kid anyway. No support system? Have a kid anyway. No stable job or home? Have a damn kid. Aliens hunting you by sound? Make a meat-suited noise machine that cries and screams uncontrollably. Super smart. You deserve it if you’re killed by aliens dudes.
