Hi Everyone!
I would like to share with you that I have been working on an app that displays OBDII data on car's screen through android auto, and very recently, finally, google accepted it!
You need a Bluetooth OBD dongle (you can get a cheap one from amazon), and that is it.
In addition to displaying the standard OBD PIDs, the app allows you to view (and clear) trouble codes through android auto screen.
Give it a try and DM me with any questions or issues you have with the app. Have safe trips!
EDIT 1: This is a bug/feature reporting form: . Please feel free to write a comment or DM me if this is more convienient for you!
UPDATE 1: Thank you for reporting the issues that you found. I am working on a new release that (I hope) will come out very soon. I am still resolving some unknown issues for which Google Play reject it. I will keep you posted.

When dictating messages, Android Auto records its own prompts. Like this:
Me: "Send a message to Jane Smith"
Assistant: "Jane Smith, sure. What's the message?"
Me: "I am on my way, see you soon"
Assistant: "Here's your text to Jane Smith: 'What's the message I am on my way see you soon.' Do you want to send it or change it?"
Me: "Change it"
Assistant: "Sorry, do you want to send it or change it?"
This issue is affecting a large number of users, as evidenced by The post is from Februrary 2017, has 450+ user posts, and no input from dev aside from this post in Feb 2017:
I can confirm that this is indeed a bug and Android Auto team is aware of it.
Bugs happen, but nearly a year and a half with no acknowledgement that any steps are being taken is frankly absurd. I have left reviews on the Android Auto app, posted in-app feedback, and left posts in the product forms and all communications go unanswered.
