AlphaDream, who worked primarily on the Mario & Luigi RPGs just announced bankruptcy.

There doesn't seem to be an English source yet, but here's an article from Yahoo Japan. I'll try to update with more info as soon as there's an English source.

• Why Didn’t Nintendo just...buy AlphaDream before they went bankrupt?

With Nintendo recently acquiring/buying NextLevel Games - the studio well known for making the Mario Strikers series as well as Luigi’s Mansion 2 and 3, this question popped into my head.

Why didn’t Nintendo just buy AlphaDream before they went bankrupt?

You’d think with AlphaDream creating the Mario and Luigi series - a very beloved Mario sub series - Nintendo would just...buy AlphaDream when they learned of the fact they were going bankrupt.

It would allow the Mario and Luigi series to continue and also save the studio which made the games amazing in the first place!

But noooooo, Nintendo just left AlphaDream out to dry and they ended up going bankrupt, pretty much cementing the M&L series death.

Nintendo is really REALLY stupid sometimes.

Edit: I originally said that Nintendo bought RetroStudios (the people behind Metroid Prime and the newer Donkey Kong Country games) instead of NextLevel Games. My bad, I mixed up the two companies. Thanks to the comments for notifying me of my error!
