Live Discussion (February 4th, 2017) (Kristen Stewart/Alessia Cara)

Welcome to our SNL live discussion thread! This week's host is Kristen Stewart and the musical guest is Alessia Cara. For those new to the show, tune into your local NBC affiliate from around 11:30 PM to follow this episode live.

A quick recommendation to mention the sketch you're referring to in your comment. It's not a hard and fast rule, but it does make the thread more readable after the show finishes.

Since this thread is likely to fill up quickly, consider sorting the comments by "new" (instead of "best" or "top") to see the newest posts. This should be automatically done, but it might not be so maybe check. Enjoy the show!

Alessia Cara appreciation post❤️

Big thank you to this lovely woman for making our 2023 a little easier❤️ she has blessed us with great moments and great music throughout her career and I cannot wait to see what she has for us in AC4! She’s been a little quiet during the making of this album but considering her track record, I’m 1000% sure it will be worth the wait. We are so grateful to have you Alessia! Here’s to (hopefully) many more years of music and many more albums, fingers crossed 🤞✨ Thank you for being such a huge part of our lives and we wish you great health and happiness💖 Happy new year!

Hearing Alessia Cara on the Radio or in public???

Living in Australia, I remember her songs being played all over the radio and in stores from like 2016-2019. Scars to your Beautiful, Stay, Here, 1-800 and even Wild Things were the main few. My favourite song ever (and still to this day) is wild things and have been a massive fan of Alessia since, so I was always happy whenever I heard one of her songs.

Unfortunately today it’s rear I hear her songs. It might be different in places like Canada, but it’s maybe once every 3-4 months I hear either Scars to your Beautiful or Stay. I still listen to the radio daily and often go to retail stores ect. My biggest surprise was when I was on holidays last year on the Gold Coast, and a theme park I went too had a big screen playing music videos and her I Choose You song came on. Was incredible happy to see.

Just wondering how often you all hear Alessia Cara in your daily lives outside of your own playlists. Hopefully she becomes more mainstream, but also happy if we keep her incredible music to ourselves :)

I just rediscovered Alessia Cara, does she have anything new coming out?

So way back, I LOVED Here. I just remembered the song, and finally listened to all of her other music. There’s a lot I love!!

I noticed that it’s been a little bit since she released anything, is there any word of new music coming soon? Obviously it’s okay if not, but I have a lot of catching up to do! I’ve missed a lot

Can Alessia Cara make a come back?

I was thinking about how Alessia Cara had a pretty impressive run during her first era with 2 top 10 singles off of her album and her collabs with Zedd and Logic making the top 10/top 3. Her album also peaked top 10 on the billboard 200, and she won a Grammy for best new artist. It seemed like her career would take off, given she had pretty good success. I remember being a casual fan of her at the time, excited to see what she would do next. And then Growing Pains came out and it flopped completely, peaking at 65. I’m still confused as to what happened. From what I saw some people didn’t like the oversized suit and tie theme she was going for in all of her performances/promo for the album, and I also noticed more unnecessary hate was thrown towards her after her Grammy win. The Pains Of Growing also pretty much flopped, peaking at 71 on the billboard 200 and had no other singles reach the hot 100. TPOG was just okay to me, and I was slightly disappointed, but I did enjoy a few songs and had hoped she would at least find some success with it, but it seemed to make no noise. She released an EP not too long ago called “This Summer” and I really enjoyed majority of the songs and was hoping something would pop off, but again, nothing made noise(Justice for Rooting for you!! :( ). Where can she go from here? And can she make a comeback with her third album? A lot of artists tend to have a sophomore slump but manage to bounce back from it, so I’m wondering if it’s a possibility with her. Would love to hear everyone else’s thoughts.
