That's love island. Different show different network and less money

[–]throawayfIExcuse you what? 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$500k please I'll find my love outside the show

[–]snuffleupagus86 28 points29 points  (2 children)

So basically it becomes the old TV show For Love or Money.

Not gonna lie I enjoyed that shit show lol

[–]juliefryyjesse’s eyebrows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After a quick google search, the girl who was in for love or money seasons 1 and 2 ended up marrying a big brother winner.

[–]juliefryyjesse’s eyebrows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too! I liked the second season too.

[–]Adorable_Raccoonminor idiot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They don’t have that kind of budget

[–][deleted] 49 points50 points  (1 child)

I think i’d be disowned if i chose a man i knew for a total of 20 hours over 500k

[–]koalaplumthank you for your feedback 🌚 10 points11 points  (0 children)

“But mom, I LOVE him” * 1 year later people magazine announces our breakup.* 🤡

[–]areallivelawyer 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Tax free $500k? Maybe...But that Neil Lane diamond alone, wait out the two years and if your social media career can survive...walking out with $750k+ I bet! I take the engagement, wedding special, dancing with the stars, and YouTube series.

[–]overheredear 3 points4 points  (1 child)

There's a show in europe sort of like this, except you show up to an island naked with your two potential love interests. Cash prize is $5000 if you're the winner but you don't reciprocate feelings. I think it's called Adam and Eve

[–]deniedbydanse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know how long they film?

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Joe HalfMillionaire

[–]AnastasiaMoon 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I’d watch the shit outta this

[–]wadupkev 45 points46 points  (2 children)

My first thought is some conspiracy of the F1 telling the lead that they’re going to take the money and they can get together after their contract is up or something post show

[–]TheNewPoetLawyerette 11 points12 points  (1 child)

I mean plenty of them already just decide to get engaged for 2 years so they can keep the ring and then breakup

[–]theskyisfallingomg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

like who? i can’t think of one couple who got engaged and pretended to be in a relationship for 2 years in order to keep a ring that they didn’t want in the first place

[–]pizzaandboba 26 points27 points  (1 child)

I feel like they had a show like this years ago. Not the Bachelor franchise but it was called “For Love or Money.”

[–]keep_everything_good 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I watched that show. It felt ultra-scripted but so much fun.

[–]brittlitt12We are the women of Bachelor Season 25 19 points20 points  (2 children)

This reminds me of Joe Millionaire, that was so long ago.

[–]heyfreesamples 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I loved that show!! Sucks they could only have one season lol

[–]MissReggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was such a piece of shit, too~

[–]munchalug 42 points43 points  (0 children)

This is basically love island?

[–]MasterTurtleHermitBachelor Nation Elder 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This makes me miss Bachelor Pad. I wish they would revive it.

[–]ExcuseYouWhattExcuse you what? 33 points34 points  (3 children)

$500K is too much. Everyone will be potentially leaving lol. It should be something like $50000

[–]giddygiddyupupCan we not talk about that. 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like Love Island!

[–]wowthisisanewone 12 points13 points  (1 child)

I feel like it’s kind of not enough because they can make that amount of money in about a year or two after being f1

[–]the_blogsmith 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It would need to be a significant amount that makes you think 🤔

[–]Liar96Tahzjuan’s friend Mr. Crab 🦀 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Among Us: Bachelor edition.

[–]happyflappypancakes 40 points41 points  (1 child)

Lol we would never get a couple at the end.

[–]likemasalaonrice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not much different than their current success rate... 🤪

[–]pluroon Team Not Right Now Ashley 14 points15 points  (2 children)

Ooooh this is good and would add a very interesting dynamic to the game! Sign me up!

[–]scotchbonnetpeppery 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You said the word - game. It's all a game with contestants.

[–]pluroon Team Not Right Now Ashley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. This ain’t no show about love anymore... if it ever was. It’s just another sporting event.

[–]seraphicfilesExcuse you what? 49 points50 points  (1 child)

OR whether to stay with the Bachelor or become the Bachelorette

[–]frodnewTeam Jacqueline's Hair 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel like almost everyone would choose to be the Bachelorette lol

[–]eatmoreskittles 12 points13 points  (0 children)

500k?! Lol that’s so much for just going on some dates and look pretty 😂 but I get ya there would be so much drama.

[–]batmannatnat 33 points34 points  (3 children)

Take the 500k and get back together and split the cash

[–]napswithcheesepastaExcuse you what? 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They only get to keep it if they don’t talk to the lead for 2 years... just like the engagement ring rule.

[–]steppedinwhat 4 points5 points  (1 child)

The only reasonable answer.

[–]batmannatnat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hehehe call me an entrepreneur

[–]reindeer_ronson🌹 19 points20 points  (0 children)

A really popular contestant could make that back through influencing before too long—wouldn't the tactical thing to do be to pick the Bachelor over the money, win everyone's ~hearts, ride the "winning" relationship/franchise train to a great deal more publicity, then cash out?

[–]hughesbroSo Genuine and Real 29 points30 points  (2 children)

Isn't this Love Island?

[–]buttlover72🌹Team DROWNING IN SOME BITCHES🌹 6 points7 points  (1 child)

that’s what I thought too but LI has the option to stay a couple and split the money, so I guess OP’s vision they don’t get any money if they stay together?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! But I think it’s 50k pounds (I’ve only seen UK version) so it isn’t as substantial.

[–]Vegetable-EmphasisExcuse you what? 33 points34 points  (0 children)

My question is how much does $500k compare to the money you make as a social media influencer? You’d think as an F1 (especially if you’re a woman, as female contestants tend to do better in terms of opportunity after the show), that you would have at least 1mil insta followers by the end of the show. And if you can play happy couple for a while? Even better. Whereas if you take the money and run, people will HATE you, and that might also affect your following and opportunities.

In the end you gotta crunch those numbers.

[–]ScarbieJustice for Joe 35 points36 points  (2 children)

Everyone would take the money. They need to make it like $5,000 so it’s enticing but still insulting if they take it.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s hilarious. If they don’t give a damn about the lead they will take the $5k. But $5k isn’t worth the social media blow back.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

lmao 5k you petty hahaha

[–]ShuGurl 38 points39 points  (3 children)

There was a show like this back in the day called For Love Or Money, but it was $1 million, not $500K.

[–]heinjarway 4 points5 points  (1 child)

And the F1 of season 1 who chose the 1 million dollars over the bachelor returned as the bachelorette on the second season, then won 1M again! Fun fact: she married the Big brother winner and arguably the best player ever Dr.Will

[–]snuffleupagus86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh snap I didn’t realize that was Dr. Will’s wife.

I wish Dr Will had been in this season instead of just the neighbor...this season sucks.

[–]WaitingToExhaleToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about Joe Millionaire...that was a good one

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Nah it would just be like love island where no one ever steals the money because everyone would hate them and they can make more money from being an influencer anyway it would only work if it was a really hated Bachelor

[–]PeterGriffinsChin 15 points16 points  (1 child)

They would just choose the money and “Get back together” after the show

[–]zippy1239Champagne Stealer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the contract would say they cant be a couple for 5 years after the show

[–]GeneLowerAdams Administration 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I would strike a deal with the man. I pick you, take the money, we split it. And maybe date after, who knows.

[–]Realitytvtrashpanda 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Take the money and run

[–]M3rc_Nate 24 points25 points  (0 children)

No one would ever choose the man/woman unless they made big adjustments to how they structure the show. By that I mean you NEED to spend waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more time with the lead, with the ability to speak freely about any topic. But even then, who would pick the man/woman that a casting director and producers allowed to be on The Bachelor? That alone would have me skeptical of 85% of the women that would be on my season. And if I was a contestant and I was F1 I'd have serious logical doubts that they are truly the person I will end up marrying, and therefore 500k to pay off all of my families debts, to buy my parents a house or to have a fund for my future childrens college education... who would pass that up?

But I like the thinking, trying to force the contestants of these shows to prove they value love over money. That they aren't in it for the $$$, that they passed on half a mil to be with the lead.

(Another thought: think about the pressure, especially from the outside public and media that puts on the relationship to work, and puts on the lead to make it work. If he/she [let's be honest, there'd be more pressure on the he] ends things with the F1 then there will be a lot of "Wow, imagine having the opportunity to get half a mil, choosing the lead and then breaking up after just ____ months/years.")

[–]MrAndMrsLesleyKnopeExcuse you what? 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Lol ABC too cheap to shill out 500K

[–]bradwomackcangetit 34 points35 points  (3 children)

This was the basis of For Love or Money. The season I watched back then the guy picked the girl that was clearly not in love with him, and she took the money. The f2 was SO heartbroken, it was sad.

[–]wineandjudgement 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember this! Feels like forever ago! And then they made F1 the lead on the next season.

[–]hnglmkrnglbrry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's also how Love Island ends

[–]moscatodogiscuterest in pizza🍕 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! I came here looking to see if anyone remembered this show

[–]Patisfaction 21 points22 points  (1 child)

What stops them from choosing the money and then starting a relationship with them after the show ends?

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (4 children)

Everyone would take the money

[–]ioughtaknow 7 points8 points  (3 children)

I don’t know, $500k is nothing in terms of shilling money an F1 wild get, and choosing money over love would be bad for their brand. I think “choosing love” would still be the better business decision.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They all choose insta famous over love, otherwise they wouldn’t go on the show

[–]momothickee 2 points3 points  (1 child)

But a guaranteed 500K vs a possible future income that can still be there, just to a lesser degree due to being F2? Idk, the bulk 500K income is more real and so much more tempting.

[–]ioughtaknow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the wave of backlash would be emotionally debilitating for a lot of people. And I disagree, I think the opportunities for $500k of shilling income is almost a guarantee for an F1

[–][deleted] 33 points34 points  (2 children)

This was literally the basis of the Joe Millionaire reality dating show from the early 2000s

The lead was presented to the women as some kind of millionaire and the season takes place at a chateau, but then the F1 gets told that he’s just a normal guy with a normal job. The host then told the F1 that she can either choose to get proposed to by the guy or choose to win $250k and leave the show. IIRC they also bring out a suitcase full of cash and open it for her

It only had two season, but was an amazing and hilarious concept

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (1 child)

I think they brought in all foreign girls for the second season cause everyone in America already knew

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s been so long since I’ve seen it, was season 2 all foreign women?

Also which season did the ‘slurp heard around the world’ occur when the show aired microphone audio from him hooking up with a contestant?

[–]mutherofdoggos 19 points20 points  (5 children)

I love this idea. I gotta say, Megan Wants a Millionaire was the superior dating show, for the few sweet episodes they aired it, and no one will ever change my mind.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Then that guy killed his gf. I remember he was on the upcoming I love Money that same year and they didn’t play the show at all.

[–]mutherofdoggos 5 points6 points  (3 children)

It was his wife!! He killed his wife to go on the show and they had to stop airing it because they found her body right around when episode 3 was airing. Turns out he ended up being her F2 so they weren’t able to air the rest of the season. And then I’m pretty sure he ended up killing himself before the cops could arrest him.

I’ve yet to see another reality TV show situation that tops that one. It was (and still is) mind blowing and depressing.

But the premise of the show was absolutely flawless and I’m sad they didn’t try again with a less stabby batch of guys.

[–]GhostDyke13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really want to see the whole season, just as a lover of trashy reality tv and true crime. It's awful about his wife, but I thought it was something else, like over money or something? I didn't think it was to be on the show specifically but I could be wrong.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Omg. I had no idea it was his wife and he did it just to be on a tv show! So terrible! That was the craziest reality tv moment ever. I hope nothing ever tops that!!

[–]mutherofdoggos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right??? It tainted everything looking back. I recall him telling Megan in episode 1 that he wouldn’t ask her to sign a prenup. At the time I was like “wow you’re dumb my dude,” but now it makes sense, he was prob just gonna kill her too.

[–]Charlie_Runkle69 Queen Magi 14 points15 points  (1 child)

They've sorta had this show before. It was called For Love or Money. I think the only difference is that the contestants got 'randomly' drawn a cheque at the start between 1 dollar and 1 million dollars and they didn't know what amount they would have if they walked away at the end. I never saw the first season, I don't think it ever aired here but the first 'Bachelor' was an ex Navy Dude with a super sketchy rep with women during his time in the military (he got dumped at the end don't worry).

[–]nicholepi1984 19 points20 points  (1 child)

Yes!!!! At least the cost of the ring. I think $500k is a lot to offer. They would dump them for $10k

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dump his ass for $100 and a flight home

[–]msmoonprincess 60 points61 points  (2 children)

This is why I LOVED Bachelor Pad. So epic

[–]tamaracandtate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I miss Bachelor Pad so much. Bachelor in Paradise just can’t compare.

[–]WWCWifeIt's not real gold - it's just pasta. 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So much about Bachelor Pad was problematic but it really was one of the best spin-offs of the franchise. I would 100% watch it again if they could get their act together on some of the major issues.

[–]seceralnofBlack Lives Matter 14 points15 points  (1 child)

I like where your head is at, but there's already issues of people going on for JUST social media clout, which ALSO will earn them money.

I vote keep it how it is.

[–]RandomNewGirl 83 points84 points  (4 children)

So it’s Love Island. That’s already on CBS

[–]Jnm124for the clou-T! 23 points24 points  (2 children)

[–]BridgitaExcuse you what? 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes but the 2nd season of the US has been great!

[–]suraaura 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We may not NEED to have that convo but can we have it anyway?

[–]souroversweetYou know what, Meredith 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was gonna say this is exactly what Love Island is lol

[–]eternititi 60 points61 points  (4 children)

Look, even if I actually LIKED the bachelor there is no way I'm turning down $500k. And idc if I lost a "fanbase" if I chose the money, I didn't have one to begin with lol

[–]bbk8zDo you mind if I pet my dogs? 17 points18 points  (1 child)

Villains gotta vill

[–]eternititi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahahaha I love this

[–]20yowithnolifethat’s it, I think, for me 1 point2 points  (1 child)

But think of all the spon con you’d lose!

[–]WWCWifeIt's not real gold - it's just pasta. 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel like there would be a niche for villan content if you were good enough.

[–][deleted] 31 points32 points  (5 children)

I remember there used to be a few manipulative dating shows on like 5/10 years ago and they were always a shit show. Anyone remember I wanna Marry Harry with the Prince Harry impersonator?

[–]tinygreenbeandisgruntled female 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YES! What a dumpster fire lol.

[–]rose-budsTeam Arie's Unread Journal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

that was so bad but so good

[–]sweetnsassy924 12 points13 points  (2 children)

Yes! And that dude looked nothing like Harry!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And the best part was none of the girls really thought he was Harry.

[–]adderallalcoholweed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But they both had red hair!

Eta: hilariously I just remembered that they actually died his blonde hair red so there really is no excuse.

[–]FindTheRiver80 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Several former F1 found fuming that that wasn't an option in their seasons.

[–]IlluminateWonder 35 points36 points  (3 children)

This would be so trashy I'd never watch it. It would just be who can manipulate the lead the best, as if they don't have enough psychological trauma from the show as it is lol

[–]Charlie_Runkle69 Queen Magi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one ever remembers this show, but back in 2003ish there was a show called Mr Personality where all the guys wore masks when they were around the 'Bachelorette' because it was all about the personality! Anyway there was this guy called Chris who would read psychology and mind control books about how to win her over all the time and would use a lot of this stuff on their dates. He ended up 2nd in the end.

[–]mirandarene07Team Microwave Relationships 8 points9 points  (1 child)

The producers already make it so trashy with the problems they create :/ at least with this idea the trash would be more organic lmao

[–]IlluminateWonder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No Lol. Leave that for mtv and they can make their own show. I at least want to watch manufacturered authenticity, I watch Survivor for people to compete for money, hard pass on a dating+money show, not my thing

[–]Diegobyte 22 points23 points  (1 child)

You could take 500k and then get back together tho. Who wouldn’t do that?

[–]redtablebluechair 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I chose my husband over 500k on a reality TV show he’d be so pissed he’d dump me on the spot. What are they gonna do, ban us from being together?!

[–]beets_bears_bubblegmAdams Administration 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s like a more fucked up version of Schrute or consequences - I love it!

[–]lhcm_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Interesting idea! There would have to be a time limit/contracts until they get the $. Otherwise the F1 that is in love would pick the money, then "reunite" with the lead a few months after the season airs

[–]KRN0622 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Sounds sort of like a similar premise to “For love or money” show

[–]carmellav19 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I like this twist reminds me a little of the OG Love Island😂

[–]Wake_Expectant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This show has devolved to such a degree - and not that its roots were that illustrious- that you might be onto something. And I’d still watch it! Oof.

[–]mymatrix8 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Aren't there TV shows that do this? One on MTV or something? Please don't make this show anything more like MTV than it already is

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (1 child)

My bf and I just had the conversation and we both chose each other over a million dollars. Now as for my ex bf? I’d take another stimulus check over him!😂

[–]DataTheCatLadies, I'm sorry. Kick rocks. 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I asked my bf this, he’d probably get mad at me and ask me “why would you ask that horrid question?? If you have to ask that, we shouldn’t be in a relationship.” Lmfao. He’s a sensitive one.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Only if they do it on the bachelorette too

[–]Wake_Expectant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well sure. I’d hope that was assumed.

[–][deleted] 212 points213 points  (12 children)

Maybe not $500,000. 150-200K. Because who is going to choose a person they've known for 6 weeks over half a million dollars?

[–]kolbin8r🖕 wrong fucking answer 🖕 87 points88 points  (11 children)

real talk...if you think you could tolerate them for a year or two, you could build quite the brand and shill a bunch and do WAY better than $500k.

[–]happyflappypancakes 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Couldnt you just do that same shilling anyways and also keep the 500k?

[–]kolbin8r🖕 wrong fucking answer 🖕 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Potentially. But BN couples tend to get better shills and engagement more than singles.

[–]happyflappypancakes 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Idk, I bet HB makes some of the most money and she is single.

[–]kolbin8r🖕 wrong fucking answer 🖕 0 points1 point  (1 child)

She was a lead. She didn't reject the lead.

[–]happyflappypancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hannah Ann is single and has a huge following. Her "winning" was vasically irrelevant. Madison essentislly rejected the lead and has a huge following.

Point is the you can easily accomplish both if you make it that far.

[–]lefrench75Many of you know me as a chiropractor 37 points38 points  (5 children)

Yeah but you'd have to work for that $500k if you turned down the prize money vs. just getting it immediately. If the F1 is smart, they can invest that $500k and still build a brand and do IG sponsorships.

[–]trytostaySo Genuine and Real 32 points33 points  (4 children)

They’d likely be despised by America if they took the money so they might not be able to build a brand.

Love Island does this! It’s only 50k and you choose whether or not to split it or keep it al for yourself. 500k is a lot different though...

[–]mikessmileisreal 5 points6 points  (2 children)

They also did this first on bachelor pad (RIP best spinoff). The series stopped after the second season when Nick decided to keep it for himself. It ruined the whole romance aspect, which is off brand for the bachelor

[–]snuffleupagus86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was season 3 😉

[–]kamih9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely loved when he did that!!!

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think they need to raise it on love island bc 25k isn’t enough to be hated by your whole country and not make money shilling. There’s gotta be a happy medium in there somewhere.

[–]FancyAirport 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oooh I love this idea!!! But thet would need to make sure they don't secretly split it in the end.

[–]jennywingal 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think a Diffy eyewear of Sugar Bear Hair sponsorship would be enough. Most of the contestants go on for that reason.

[–]insideoutpotato 20 points21 points  (2 children)

This is just Joe Millionaire lol except on joe millionaire they didn’t know about the choice of the money until the very end which I think is better

[–]cloudchaser1011mmm eh na nap bap 7 points8 points  (1 child)

AND they got the million if they chose the relationship over the money!

[–]insideoutpotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but they didn’t know that when they were choosing. Ohh the drama. That was a good one

[–]Veglife108 52 points53 points  (1 child)

5 hundo is too large! The leads only make 100k. Try 50 or 100 lower bar. If they chose it, even more controversial. Shit, I’m married w kids and I’d think of leaving my spouse for 500k 😂😂😂

[–]eatyourslop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love the fuck out of my husband, and I'm sure he'd understand if I left him for half a mil.

[–]bunnytronTeam Microwave Relationships 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Could choose the money and then take the guy later on!

[–][deleted] 28 points29 points  (3 children)

There was show like that called For The Love of Money. Or something. Each girl would be given a ticket when she entered the house. Each one would have a different dollar amount. The highest I think was like 1 million. At the end whoever the guy chose could choose to stick with him or take the money. I think I was like 13 when it came out. I’m 30 now. Lmao. So my memory is very foggy.

[–]IPlanThings 14 points15 points  (2 children)

It was so trashy!!! The show pretended the bachelor was wealthy when he was really a blue collar worker. I don't know of any of the girls were convinced because he could barely string sentences together (that isn't a diss to blue collar workers in general, I think he was a plumber, this guy in particular was just remarkably dim). So in the end he picked a girl and they drop the bombshell that he's actually broke and then let her choose. All I remember of the plot is he went on a walk in the woods with one of the poor girls to escape the cameras for a bit and they edited slurping sounds into the footage to imply she was giving him head off screen. It was the same level of trashy as Flavor of Love so of course I watched every episode at the time lol.

[–]BoozeCrudeTake it to Reddit, sis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good synopsis of the show. I can’t believe there were 4 seasons(I only watched 1 and 2). http://www.crazyabouttv.com/forloveormoney.html

Omg. Lmao. I don’t remember any of that. 😂 I did watch Flavor of Love with my grandma, of all people. Lol

[–]BigBrownBearCub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How would that be any different from today, in reality? The vast majority of these contestants are NOT there for a chance to 'find love', but to build a social media following so that they can shill products for years to come, and CASH IN.

I remember seeing an article at some point about how much a widely followed SM "influencer" rakes in every year. It's staggering, and explains why so many of these people who allegedly went on the Bachelor or 'ette years (and years ago) TO THIS DAY still do not have a traditional job - it's because they're raking in well over $100K / year going to parties, traveling the world, being "seen" and, ultimately, hawking products to bring in the cash.

Net net, they are probably ultimately getting MORE than $500K one-time when you total up what they are pulling in every year after leaving the show.

There was actually a reality show about that in the early 00s, For Love or Money.

[–]jennywingal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember that show. It was trashy gold television.

[–]HematoPoessaTAXI! 🚕 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Maybe they can choose to accept the ring or take it and sell it to keep the drama of the proposal lol

[–]Wake_Expectant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So...exactly the show we have today. 😋

[–]Imperfectlymom 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I remember a show exactly like this, from the 00's. I think the name was "for love or money?" maybe?

[–]SuperSailorSaturnI'm petty. Don't fuck w me 6 points7 points  (4 children)

They did this show already, I think it was called Paradise hotel or something. It was like BiP where you had to be coupled up to continue, new people would come the first few weeks and there were occasionally games they had to play and could face being kicked out. At the end, the last couple could decide to stay together and split the money or one of them could walk away with all of it.

It wasnt too bad of a show. But I think it got cut short so the timing of the last few episodes is really weird.

[–]iwantpizzalogs 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Remember how the guy took the money? I started cheering for him at my TV.

[–]SuperSailorSaturnI'm petty. Don't fuck w me 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He deserved it! She was clearly lying since the first night they coupled in order to just stay on the show. I really enjoyed him waiting til the very last-literal second to drop the ball (literally).

[–]manmanchuck44 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Isn’t this really similar to the concept of Love Island?

[–]SuperSailorSaturnI'm petty. Don't fuck w me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think its a bad American remake before they did an American Love Island. I know on the original UK version, they could sometimes be voted off by watchers, I dont remember the games too much though.

[–]CkEmpressblind to red flags 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is an AMAZING idea.

[–]kylekylekyle8 248 points249 points  (0 children)

Literally no one would get engaged

[–]faillefuck it, im off contract 14 points15 points  (3 children)

Their income potential is so much greater as an influencer

[–]thishasntbeeneasyTeam Pizza 4 points5 points  (2 children)

That's got to be true for the top people, but are there really dozens that make six figures? I have to think there's just a few. Otherwise they wouldn't be doing $50 cameos.

[–]faillefuck it, im off contract 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if the choice is for the F1 and the bachelor, they already are the top people. I’ll bet they can easily make at least 500k the first year with comparatively low effort. Especially if they stay together for that time.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cameos are included in the influencer income though. Ashley and Jared for example charge $75 and they're two pretty big names. They probably get at least ten of those a month and that's just a minor side gig

[–]sarah123yhave you ever considered literally shutting the fuck up 17 points18 points  (1 child)

This takes me back to Bachelor Pad, where certain contestants would make out with and pretend to be attracted to someone when they were actually interested in the money $$$ instead (or in someone else).

[–]rightioushippieTeam Jacuzzi Appointment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m still traumatized

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (1 child)

I feel like it would end up being like love island, everyone on that show splits the money because they don’t wanna be hated I’m sure it’ll be the same on the bachelor where they stick with him bc they don’t wanna be hated

[–]UnexpectedGeneticistBlack Lives Matter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tell that to Nick Petersen! Man was a legend

[–]Napolatesmmm eh na nap bap 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I love this idea, but also I think about Too Hot To Handle where if they hooked up, they lost money for the whole group. One girl did not care about this at all and laughed whenever she lost the group money, and it’s because she knew the exposure from this show and all the airtime she was getting was worth waaay more than the prize money. So real question is: how much would be more than you could earn by getting engaged to the bachelor and shilling?

[–]splash_mom 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Hey, can they contractually keep you from dating the guy/girl in a few months or so? It’s a win-win

[–]thishasntbeeneasyTeam Pizza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't be prevented from dating someone, but they could put terms on the money. Most big prizes aren't actually given all at once, but spread out over 40 years. So they'd just give you $500/mo if you aren't dating them. (Math comes out to $1,000/mo, but prize taxes are usually 50%.)

[–][deleted] 28 points29 points  (2 children)

The problem is I would immediately lose interest if I was the 'Ette and my F1 turned down the 500K. Terrible judgment skills, major turn off.

[–]actuallyanengineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right?! Like, take the money and DM me in a year boo.

[–]pianocat1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

😂

[–]JWilkesKip 9 points10 points  (4 children)

Great idea, maybe 500k is too much lmao. Maybe like 100k ?

[–]AARonBalakay22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like the financial benefits of being F1 in a relationship with the Bachelor has to be more than 100k.

[–]ravenclawrebelthey make sea unicorns?🌊🦄 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Nahhhh, make it $1 million and watch them really struggle to decide.

[–]JWilkesKip 9 points10 points  (1 child)

lol a million? That wouldn't be a struggle to decide for anyone.

[–]ravenclawrebelthey make sea unicorns?🌊🦄 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But I’ve been told love is the most worthwhile thing in the world! 😂

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (1 child)

I would choose the $500,000 and I’m not sorry. There is more than one man out there, ladies.

[–]SuperSailorSaturnI'm petty. Don't fuck w me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I got too many student loans to pay off lol

[–]mindyourownbetchnessOlder Jesus doesn't care 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in

[–]Smokingpenguin 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This gave me Love Island vibes. Lol

[–]cardioishardio1222I'm petty. Don't fuck w me 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Okay good concept buuut what’s stopping them from getting together with the bachelor after they’ve taken the money and the show is over??

[–]ProfessionalCrab5 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Not one person would choose the relationship

[–]poshill 96 points97 points  (1 child)

Omg I would dump my husband for half a million.

I’m kidding I’m kidding, but half a million!!!!

[–]mindyourownbetchnessOlder Jesus doesn't care 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Ha! It's one of those situations where you're like of course I wouldn't......... right??? hahah
