Beau sitting on the floor in his PJs eating his ice-cream was hilarious. I love how they can still make him be such a goober while stuck in a tiny room

    [–]Apple_Slipper[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Quarantine with Beau should be a good series, to be honest!

    [–]producermaddy 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Beau hosting this from quarantine is the best.

    [–]KellyandGeorgia 23 points24 points  (7 children)

Wish the episodes could be longer, you guys are missing out on a lot!

    [–]Apple_Slipper[S] 10 points11 points  (3 children)

Us fans wish to see more of what wasn't shown on TV!

Some teams from some versions of The Amazing Race (USA, Canada, etc.) have produced their own recap podcasts about their time/journey of being on the show, as well as aspects that weren't shown on TV.

    [–]KellyandGeorgia 18 points19 points  (2 children)

Will definitely talk in depth about the race when we are allowed!

    [–]Apple_Slipper[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

    Awesome!

    [–]pantaloonjohnny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Can't wait!

    [–]Myloninja13 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Would love 90-minute episodes consistently but I get there's airtime restrictions. Curious on if they're cutting tasks out of the edit though (Not sure if you're allowed to say regardless haha). Still loving the season!

    [–]jhutch2147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They definitely cut out tasks last season, I remember once two teams swapped places without any reasons or explanation…and it turned out there was a task in the middle which took one team longer. I’d assume they are doing the same here which is unfortunate.

    [–]Cloncurry_fan 21 points22 points  (2 children)

Scotty is absolutely more alive than last ep

Yeah, jetlag is definetly not the best for hosting TAR

      [–]CreswickOctober 22 points23 points  (1 child)

Heath & Toni are such a positive team, I love seeing them smile

      [–]Awkward-Incident-334 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeah..he always has a big grin on 😁

      [–]CreswickOctober 18 points19 points  (1 child)

      Episode felt really short tonight

Sad to see Morgan and Lilli go, they really felt like strong contenders who didn't get their proper time in the limelight

      [–]bmac92 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sucks to see them go, especially when quarantined teams are coming back next.

      [–]CreswickOctober 16 points17 points  (5 children)

Today they're truly draggin' boat mums

      [–]infinitemonkeytyping 22 points23 points  (1 child)

Everyone else - finishing with less than 10s to go

Claire - finishing with over 40s to go

      [–]Apple_Slipper[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

She absolutely killed that challenge! Fastest time for that task!

      [–]Grouchy-Curve-6200 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go us dragonboat mums. We love a water challenge.

      [–]jedrevolutia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And I was literally clapping my hands when Claire was holding that steer. And I shouted, "Go Claire, Go, Go, Go."

      [–]Apple_Slipper[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

      LOL great one!

      [–]DyingMessage 14 points15 points  (2 children)

One of my favorite things about the race so far is how skilled Tiffany & Cynthia are. They aren't great runners or amazing navigators, but skill based challenges tend to work out VERY well for them. They usually move up ranks as soon as they hit a task. They are such a dark horse team, I swear.

      [–]jedrevolutia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just bad that they often lose a lot of time during navigation.

      [–]WittyContribution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

      Their navigation is terrible, though.

In Leg 5, they went from 1st to last mid-race and couldn't recover.

In Leg 8, they started 3rd and dropped to 9th and remained at the back of the pack for the rest of the leg.

They seem to get through roadblocks and detours just fine, but I have zero confidence in their navigation. I like them so I hope they continue to do well, but I think they're gonna need to cross their fingers for quite a few taxi rides if they wanna make it to the business end.

        [–]pakoandmori 19 points20 points  (1 child)

Trust me it was not deliberate lol

        [–]jedrevolutia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, another team of racers on this sub too.

I know it's not deliberate since you guys almost got eliminated because of it, however watching it, I can't help but thinking the same thing since it looks like a cool experience to drive that sea car.

        [–]Apple_Slipper[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lilli was doing many circles as well.

Can't blame them, the JetCar looks really fun!

        [–]CreswickOctober 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Jodie and Claire the amazing walkers, omg. They bring a laugh out loud moment nearly every episode.

        [–]Grouchy-Curve-6200 4 points5 points  (1 child)

We loved being the Amazing Walkers. Couldn’t possibly keep up with all those 20 year olds. 🤣

        [–]VelvetLeopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m watching now on 10 Play and you’re one of my two favourite teams. I love your narration.

        [–]dmoTION8 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Wished we got to see more of Morgan and Lili on the show, seemed like they were a fun team. The editing make it obvious that they were going. Happy to see Jodie and Claire move up the order.

Tasks were just ok; the car ski looked like fun.

        [–]jedrevolutia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't help thinking that Jodie and Claire are older version of Morgan and Lili.

        [–]producermaddy 8 points9 points  (1 child)

The temporary host is actually really good

        [–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's doing the Phil style mat interrogations! Love it

        [–]lola1973lola 15 points16 points  (11 children)

I’m really not understanding this whole covid isolating thing. The lawyers have been gone for ages. If they aren’t well enough to race after 5 days of isolation, the they should just be sent home.

        [–]Awkward-Incident-334 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"gone for ages"..last season introduced teams out of nowhere. I'll take this (unplanned situation) over that.

        [–]EmotionalWeakness892 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If teams catch COVID, then they should be eliminated. That's the risk and consequence of running around the world in the COVID Era. Either just let them Race positive or eliminate them.

        [–]Rychu_Supadude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They realistically would have been well enough in either this episode or the last, but dropping them into the middle of the Turkiye legs was a logistical challenge that the producers weren't willing to handle.

        [–]Apple_Slipper[S] 2 points3 points  (3 children)

In TAR Canada Season 8, Jon Montgomery (host) mentioned that some teams having to self-isolate meant that they weren't really eliminated, and those teams came back for the On Ramp task at the East Park Golf Gardens to get back into the race.

        [–]ToQ-1go 4 points5 points  (2 children)

No, when the COVID teams left the Race, Jon said they were done. That's why they allowed back Cassie & Jahmeek and Jully & Kathy. But then they suddenly just bring back the COVID teams.

        [–]Apple_Slipper[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Ah, ok. Didn’t really know that until now. Thanks for clarifying.

        [–]jedrevolutia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an audience I don't really mind though, because they brought back eliminated teams and COVID teams who I want to see more of them. It would be different if they are boring team.

        [–]SagginBartender -4 points-3 points  (3 children)

Rules are rules. If you contract covid it is unfair that you are DQ'd. It requires you to sit out at LEAST six legs. Plus they are the best racers left in the game. Highest average placing team.

        [–]pantaloonjohnny 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Why do you keep saying this all the time lol are you memeing or trolling

        [–]jfbchelsea 6 points7 points  (2 children)

The guys pushing the Jet Car back into the water after she beached it hahaha

        [–]jedrevolutia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel sorry for those guys. Hope they got paid well by the production.

For reference, the Australia rankings are out of 79 teams, and the world rankings are out of 887 teams.

(See this comment for more information on Pseudo-Elo ratings.)

Well, that just happened. And it seems Pako & Mori's rating record of +2119 stood for all of two days. You have to admit, winning 5/8 legs in a format with this many teams is insane.

        [–]Apple_Slipper[S] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

The Cheap Seats (next show after TAR Australia) talks about Beau being temporarily replaced by AIDA the Robot in İzmir. The robot was able to speak some languages such as English and Spanish.

        [–]Rychu_Supadude 3 points4 points  (1 child)

That was a joke, not a reveal. I actually checked the company's website, the languages it supports are English, Turkish, Arabic, and Russian.

I don't think the episode made it fully clear that it was a native Turkish robot, I thought they'd bumped the local greeter to put in "Beau's replacement"! Bit of a rare lucky break if ADA was the scheduled greeter...

        [–]Apple_Slipper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I see. Thanks for the clarification!

        [–]pantaloonjohnny 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Cool episode! That finish was a massive fakeout I did not believe the Hubbies were going to overtake the girls at the last minute especially with the lack of position changes there. But they did and I'm relieved because they're a strong team and it'd be weird to see them gone just like that.

Still these three Türkiye eliminations have been devastating for me. Morgan & Lilli started doing so well the last two legs but unfortunately couldn't get there this episode. They were really fun and I wish they got more time on our screens. It's only going to get worse from here though as I get more and more attached to these teams.

Jodie & Claire were AMAZING this ep! Both in performance and likeability. Claire demolished the jetcar challenge like it was nothing and I was in awe the whole time. Such a positive team along with Heath & Toni. Rooting for them so much!

Fliss & Tottie getting lost and knowing they can catch up so they can snatch some screentime 💅

Angel & Frankie getting first three times in a row is really commendable and for them not to stuff up once they had the lead is impressive. Another orange team dominating who hopefully won't get U-Turned by everybody else at the Final Four.

Chelsea & Jamus are growing on me tbh, Chelsea is just a hot stressed mess and they both seem to still be fine with each other despite it all lmao. Plus Chelsea wasn't as mad as I feared when forgetting the bags last episode.

Dogs to the pitstop, runaway donkeys, and now cats having seggs

The tasks here were nice. I love the ice cream vendors being included, and the jetcar challenge was beautiful, and as quick as the Turkish delight may have been, it added some variety with the teams' faces getting 'dirty'.

And Scotty's great as a host! I love how he and Beau are trading lines. It's honestly great to watch. I hope it continues. Imagine co-hosting the rest of the way?

Still pulling for Flick & Gabby, Jodie & Claire, Kelly & Georgia, Heath & Toni and Pako & Mori to get far. Even though I actually like all the teams now in one way or another.

Next, Stuart & Glennon and (finally) Kathy & Chace returning for Colombia! Going to be controversial with the teams and the viewers lol I'm glad they're finally back sooner rather than later tho, and I hope it doesn't happen again haha

        [–]glider521al 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah all 3 eliminations have hit quite hard; plus Morgan and Lilli didn't get enough screentime. It looked like the Scientific Sibblings would have done well during this leg given their skill set to.

Agreed that Scott/Beau syncing their explanations/shenanigans is pretty well done.

Fliss & Tottie will likely also be a very powerful team once the race moves to the countryside.

Good that the isolation teams are finally cleared to return.

        [–]CreswickOctober 5 points6 points  (2 children)

The water for the car challenge looks beautiful

        [–]Apple_Slipper[S] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

The coastline is absolutely gorgeous in general! Ideal for some adrenaline fun!

        [–]rymerster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That whole coast is amazing - there's a lot of it. What I was not aware of before going is how many Greek and Roman ruins there are in that region. Further away in Side there is a whole ancient city you can just wander around.

        [–]Cloncurry_fan 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Who knew counting could be so difficult

        [–]CreswickOctober 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The spinning around probably doesn't help

        [–]Expert-Maybe-2532 5 points6 points  (4 children)

The challenge would be better if Scotty got the ice cream vendors to dress up as ninjas

        [–]jedrevolutia 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I guess it's hard for the rest of us to understand this reference if we haven't seen Scotty's other show.

        [–]Expert-Maybe-2532 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Scotty's other show had a segment most episodes where his sidekicks, 'The Ninjas' would go to a public place and film themselves pranking members of the public, similar to how the show was filming the racers getting pranked by the ice cream vendors.

        [–]jedrevolutia 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Where can I watch it? Is it on 10Play too?

        [–]Expert-Maybe-2532 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming since you asked about 10Play that you're in Australia or using an Aussie VPN, you can watch seasons 1-2 of Prank Patrol on ABC iView. I can't find season 3 anywhere on the internet. It could be lost media. The show is just a kid's show and not particularly good, most people's appreciation of it is just due to nostalgia.

        [–]CreswickOctober 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beau is growing a travel beard

        [–]812gnj 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Is the car challenge a roadblock that's been edited as a Route Info in the episode? Looking like it with only one team member driving the entire car

The leg's quite short - but it's quite a toss to new TAR legs with a couple of tasks and the pit stop immediately happens.

        [–]EmotionalWeakness892 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a Road Block. The clue was a regular Route Info clue.

        [–]Apple_Slipper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably yeah. There are no official Roadblocks nor Detours in this episode.

        [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did anyone notice Angel & Frankie that when they got their first place prize, one cut scène of them was with sugar powder allover their face and the next cut scene was them without and then back to with it!

        [–]ICameForTheT 3 points4 points  (3 children)

They started with 4 M/M teams, 8 M/F teams and 8 F/F which tells you that production’s worst-case scenario is another all-male winning team 💀

        [–]CreswickOctober 2 points3 points  (2 children)

At this rate we could still have an all F/F finale

        [–][deleted]  (1 child)

          [–]CreswickOctober 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It first happened in TAR10 I believe

          [–]handinhandkameraden 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I think the edit might have given the ending away this episode.

          [–]Rychu_Supadude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll give them credit in that I thought they were setting up for Angel and Frankie to get beaten tonight, actually played the longer game for once.

          [–]CreswickOctober 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Morgan & Lilli got directions off a guy who looks like Turkish Scott Tweedie

          [–]jedrevolutia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A doppelganger? They should have brought that dude to the pit stop. Lol.

          [–]maukamauka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if they cut any challenges from the edit as this leg seemed suspiciously tame. Hoping to see the race heat up with the return of the isolated teams next week.

If anyone’s curious, there’s currently a 7:3 Melbourne/Sydney split between the ten remaining teams, although the isolated teams will bump that back up to 7:5.

          [–]irl_Juvia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasn't expecting a non-elim tonight, but not disappointed that Pako and Mori survived.

The 10 teams that were left were all pretty good teams anyway.

          [–]frozensummit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If one of the teams in isolation gets one of the first three places, that'll be so fucking unfair.

          [–]Rychu_Supadude 1 point2 points  (6 children)

The car challenge was blatantly a roadblock in everything but name, so I'm thinking there was an actual roadblock cut from the edit. Oh, wikipedia says that the official twitter referred to it as a roadblock, so just a weird-ass editing choice.

Definitely surprised that they spent 3 legs in Turkey without going to Istanbul, but they still showcased the country very well without any iconic minarets.

The balancing of multiple teams in the edit has been better than expected, but I still preferred the greater amount of Non-Eliminations from last season, this leg was crying out for one.

          [–]ToQ-1go 2 points3 points  (4 children)

It wasn't the official Twitter though. It was just Tim & Rod tweeting from the official account. So technically, it wasn't the show that classified it as a Road Block.

          [–]jedrevolutia 1 point2 points  (3 children)

But it looks like a roadblock since only 1 team member can do it and they cannot switch between them, unlike the previous flying carpet challenge.

If it's not a roadblock, why didn't Paco and Mori switch between them midway?

Perhaps racers on this sub can clarify?

It was a roadblock, pretty sure it was in a roadblock envelope as well which is strange

The clue was a regular blue Route Info clue: https://i.imgur.com/qiQIVeI.jpg

Teams read exactly what it said on the clue and the episode specifically showed teams reading that clue while eating ice cream.

There was a quick shot of a red page - it was a super quick shot early in the segment. Just went back to have a look and you can see it flapping away as Toni is running from the change rooms.

Turkey is a big country. It was definitely a choice to show some of the more old-looking areas, the country is a lot more modern than was depicted.

For the next leg they will probably have to transit through Istanbul Airport, which is an amazing place. I suppose tricky for security, but such a large airport with multiple levels could have made for a great challenge. Finding the museum for example with the teeny tiny Ramesses II peace treaty is a challenge in itself - I had to find that with a short layover recently :-)

Kathy and Chace still are dominating these last 6 legs by maintaining the highest race average. Contenders to win it all

LOL But they will be back in the race starting from Colombia on Sunday (Australia timezone).

Honestly thought Pako and Mori would get eliminated today

The confessional about it being a wake up call was too much of a giveaway.
