In order to prove a point to a friend, I've created an exhaustive list of playable characters as of Genshin Impact version 4.8 (Emilie included). If you've got time, please just pick your favorite characters (no limit) and let the stats collect! Your personal information (like your email) will NOT be collected or stored.

The survey has officially closed and it's time for results! Thank you all for participating. In total there were 3680 responses...Here are some of the highlights! (Chart at the end)

Some quick justifications for concerns brought up in the comments:

1. Though Emilie was only available as a playable character for a couple days of the survey, I still thought it valuable to include her as a point of initial interest, and for the sake of having some data for her before we hit Natlan.

2. Lots of people expressed that having no limit on how many characters you could vote for wasn't the best way to go. I did this since the survey wasn't intended to capture the most popular character, but just general perception of the different characters. It didn't matter if that was judging by the meta, the design, or the gameplay, just a general survey to see how people feel.

3. It should be noted that this data represents the opinions of the active members of the Genshin Impact subreddit, not necessarily the entire fanbase in general.

All this to say, I mostly did this for fun and to update the data since it's been a few updates since the last time I saw one conducted! And, TLDR, the beef was who is better Xiao or Xianyun, which came to a discussion of popularity polls which, according to my friend were "too soon after her release." Xiao one by a margin of .8%.

Furina = 55% (2023) ...are we really surprised?

Neuvillette = 37.9% (1394)

Navia = 37.1% (1362)

Nahida = 34.6% (1271)

Zhongli = 32.9% (1209)

Aloy = 1% (37)

Mika = 2% (74)

Dori = 3.1% (113)

Xinyan = 3.1% (114)

Sayu = 4.5% (164)

Misc. observations

Lumine beat out Aether by 7%.

Lynette edged out Lyney by less than 1%.

Gorou was the last character to receive any votes at the beginning. Furina started with an early lead and finished with a significant lead (LET'S GO FURINA MAINS!!!)

Arlecchino started with barely any votes but finished as 6th most voted for, passing Wanderer who had an early lead competing with Nahida.

No Archon had less than 20%, ordered in least to most votes are Venti, Raiden, Zhongli, Nahida, and Furina.

And DRUMROLL PLEASE for the data that sparked this survey to begin with!

Basically, this whole survey was a product of a beef between my friend and me, since neither of us could agree on who was "better" between Xiao and Xianyun. Since the only data we could find had been produced shortly after her release, he claimed that her general popularity couldn't be compared to Xiao's as he'd been around for longer (to which I said, then why are the Fontaine characters d e s t r o y i n g in polls conducted shortly after their release.) So, in order to get data that was "fairer" in my friend's opinion, here we are.
