Hey, thanks for saving us Chief!

Brohammer is basically UNSC Prime

[–]Aquillifer Let People Enjoy Halo 49 points50 points  (4 children)

If Chief orders too many things in a short amount of time it Brohammer might go on strike.

[–]Kellythejellyman 51 points52 points  (1 child)

“I don’t pay you at all”

“EXACTLY!”

[–]MasterHall117 Believe the Hype 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We won’t have a payment if we don’t stop the banished

[–]realbigbob 580 points581 points  (9 children)

I assumed it’s hover mode would kick in but no, just slammed right into the ground lol

[–]LonesomeCrowdedWhest 632 points633 points  (5 children)

Its so passive aggressive. Here's your military plane idiot

[–]Gil_Demoono 275 points276 points  (1 child)

That's the done-ness of someone who's had to deliver three other wasps today because Chief had this really cool idea.

[–][deleted] 96 points97 points  (0 children)

[–]SBAPERSON ONI 73 points74 points  (1 child)

[–]Georgeasaurusrex 510 points511 points  (7 children)

i loved watching it smack the ground and just bounce up slightly

[–]fieldsofgreen 162 points163 points  (2 children)

Seriously! The hogs always used to do this when dropped.

[–]HeyGuysImPresto 169 points170 points  (1 child)

Difference is the warthogs had tires to absorb the drop. And I’m pretty sure they were dropped from about 20 ft lower. Watching the Wasp drop in the trailer is like watching those videos of delivery drivers that just toss your package from the sidewalk lol

[–]ThreeDawgs 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Universal Pelican Service.

[–]Gil_Demoono 62 points63 points  (1 child)

"We deliver!"

[–]Hylia 133 points134 points  (7 children)

Just cause 2 vibes when they just dump a super car in front of you from 50 feet up lmao

[–]Tsudico 49 points50 points  (6 children)

Blowing up those storage tanks reminded me of Just Cause as well, and so did electrocuting a grappled enemy. I'm not entirely opposed, I enjoy that series as well but I hope the game feels more like Halo with those elements added instead of Just Cause: Zeta Halo.

[–]DJfunkyPuddle 25 points26 points  (2 children)

I get that, I was also getting Titanfall vibes too though. Can't wait to tear shit up in a Mantis.

[–]LasersTheyWork 61 points62 points  (7 children)

I know there are tons of folks picking this trailer to death but the only noticeable thing that bothered me in the trailer were the sparks the wasp made when dropped. I personally think everything else looks great.

[–]TookinGlassed planets have bad records 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yeah that was the only thing that I noticed, they were like strangely mistimed 2D sprites.

[–]Mr_Raskolnikov Halo 3 1254 points1255 points  (52 children)

Return of CE Purple Cortana's pretty awesome, a new forerunner villain, graphics looking phenomenal, focus on marines, campaign ability upgrades, and damn the difference in Escharum at the end there was insane! They really took those criticisms to heart, I was already crazy excited for the campaign but now I'm only even more excited, this is gonna be a long month

[–]seanbird 378 points379 points  (29 children)

I think it's a Prelate (Prophet version of Spartan) not forerunner.

[–]Mr_Raskolnikov Halo 3 266 points267 points  (16 children)

It kinda resembles a Prelate for sure but I'm pretty sure it's not, you can see she has 4 fingers while San'Shyuum which Prelates are a part of only have 3 fingers

[–]seanbird 88 points89 points  (2 children)

Hmm interesting point. You're right. Maybe something else then?

[–]Tomythy 23 points24 points  (7 children)

Forerunners have 6 fingers so we can rule them out if we're counting fingers.

[–]Shad0wDreamer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It looks like his left arm is a Spartan prosthetic?

[–]Captain_DuClark 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Because this game is open world, it would be really cool if he's hunting you throughout the game and ambushing you in random encounters and/or in the middle of other fights. I hope he's not simply just a boss with more health.

[–]SwordOfAltair 571 points572 points  (27 children)

Was that a beam rifle?

Finally we get to see the Hunters, Halo CE Cortana for some reason and even the Harbinger. I thought they would keep their identity a secret.

[–]levi22ezHalo: MCC 700/700 360 points361 points  (18 children)

I got major CE vibes from the hunters. Felt like Chief was squaring off with one in the map room on Silent Cartographer.

[–]Ragefan66[🍰] 134 points135 points  (15 children)

As long as you cant one shot them with a pistol I'll be happy. Hunters in Reach were actually fun/challenging

[–]levi22ezHalo: MCC 700/700 62 points63 points  (6 children)

Agreed. No way they’ll return the Hunters to being one shot kills.

[–][deleted] 113 points114 points  (0 children)

[–]TheCrzy1 188 points189 points  (4 children)

[–]IdeologicFire8 282 points283 points  (15 children)

Something about seeing less than 8 weeks makes it feel so much closer than seeing Dec 8. So thanks for that! Hyped!

[–]jackibongo 63 points64 points  (13 children)

Yeah doing it on a week by week basis is soooo much better, 2 weeks tomorrow we get Forza Horzion 5 which will help make the wait for halo that little bit easier!

[–]Rulligan 159 points160 points  (4 children)

And it looks like something that the "average" player could actually pull off compared to the OG Rendezook.

[–]awakemindfulone 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I tried something similar during the beta, safe to say I'm not an "average" player... :( although it was incredibly fun to try!

[–]GabMassa 66 points67 points  (2 children)

The hardest part of the rendezook is going back into your jet.

The grappleshot does lower the skill floor considerably.

Which is a great thing, IMO.

[–]Memo_HS2022 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Yeah but imagine doing multiple Rendezook’s in a row

That’s when the real fun begins

[–]Lettik07UNSC 272 points273 points  (7 children)

[–][deleted] 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I'm doesn't afraid of anything.

[–]DrNopeMD 109 points110 points  (19 children)

I hope they have enough for the player to do in the open world though.

There need to be interesting side objectives and enough variety to keep people engaged. I don't want a big empty world with nothing to do besides travel between objectives and shoot enemies.

[–]Rusted_muramasa 39 points40 points  (1 child)

The most enjoyable part of every open world game:

spending five minutes walking from Point A to Point B with noting in between.

[–]Panaceous 42 points43 points  (7 children)

Reminds me of Farcry in the way that you take out outposts of enemies. I like it.

[–]alanpardewchristmas 291 points292 points  (7 children)

How many guns do you need?

"Yes"

[–]tyler980908 Halo 3 909 points910 points  (62 children)

Delay was so worth it, purple Cortana, fun banter with the new Ai, marine companions, tons of gameplay variety. Hell yes.

[–]zrkillerbush 419 points420 points  (5 children)

Im so glad to have marine AIs, so many games don't have friendly AIs, its been a staple in Halo!

[–]GhostalMedia Halo: CE 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I really hope Bungie adds more friendly to Destiny. It's so weird that they they kind of abandoned it after they handed Halo off. There are a couple missions with some friendly bots, but they're definitely the rare exception.

[–]alanpardewchristmas 391 points392 points  (33 children)

Can't believe the whole "cute" Weapon thing is working on me.

[–]epraider 45 points46 points  (3 children)

The dynamic of her being a straight up childlike clone of Cortona paired with an old, grizzled, and tired Chief should be really interesting, create some good introspective opportunities

[–]tyler980908 Halo 3 258 points259 points  (23 children)

I Love it. Loved her since they first showed her in June. Like a fresh younger cortana, well that's kinda the point I think. But I hope she is with you for the entire ride and has tons of dialogue, like a Johnny silverhand type of deal.

[–]napaszmek Halo: MCC 149 points150 points  (11 children)

Cortana and Chief were friends, I'd like to see Chief mentoring this new AI. You know, someone who is very new, strictly by the book and Chief is just there doing Chief things.

[–]GandalfsLeftNippleSpartan III 112 points113 points  (3 children)

Chief things are basically “I’m technically not allowed to do this but who’s gonna tell me no”

[–]Beidah 35 points36 points  (2 children)

"Did I tell you about the time a ship captain gave the order to have me arrest? Not a single person tried. They even let me take a pelican."

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

"In fact, he ended up removed from command, upon his immediate return to FLEETCOM."

[–]SNAP9287 ONI 38 points39 points  (1 child)

I was kinda nice to see Master Chief guiding the Weapon for a change instead of being told by Cortana exactly what he needed to do…..not that it was a complaint of mine, but it was something I liked.

[–]drkow19 46 points47 points  (4 children)

With a name The Weapon, and that overly cute persona, she's for sure gonna do something crazy by the end, maybe Cortana will destroy her and come home to Mister Chef

[–]Sniper_Brosef 26 points27 points  (1 child)

Or maybe cortana is meant to merge with the weapon and that's the "containment" that is referenced.

[–][deleted] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This one’s containment and this one’s great journey are the same

[–]Jimmys_Rustled 91 points92 points  (0 children)

From the trailer, it did say Chief’s first mission was to “find this new AI” so I believe we’ll be able to have her along with us the entire campaign!

[–]TheNerdyOne_M0aHerder 135 points136 points  (12 children)

Purple Cortana is such a little thing, but one that I've secretly hoped for and figured would never happen. It was such a good choice!

If/when the Prometheans show up, whether it be in the main campaign or future ones, I think it would be really cool for them to have purple lights instead of the orange we're used to.

[–]EwokitudeGruntpocalypse 38 points39 points  (9 children)

The Skimmers kind of had a Promethean look but they could be related to the Harbinger

[–]analbinosyoutube.com/c/alivedinosaur 29 points30 points  (7 children)

Skimmers were using Brute Shock Rifles so I'm a bit confused

[–]LonesomeCrowdedWhest 37 points38 points  (4 children)

We had a brute with a human rocket launcher in the trailer too

[–]ThreeDawgs 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Banished use whatever they feel gets the job done best.

We humans excel at blowing things up.

[–]MustangCraftONI did nothing wrong 16 points17 points  (1 child)

December is not coming soon enough, super excited.

[–]che_boludo_ 386 points387 points  (21 children)

All main campaign story points were left out for the better - but it looks like it’ll primarily be the banished with some forefunner/created antagonists. I can’t wait to see where it goes.

For gameplay, looks like everything we could have wanted and lives up to everything 343 has promised. Boss fights actually look like they’ll be challenging, with health indicators and everything. Can’t wait

[–]Shad0wDreamer 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I think we’re seeing brand new faction action.

[–]arnold_117 410 points411 points  (62 children)

That looks fun ? I am glad they didn't reveal any major story elements.

[–]mrbubbamacYT: 8-Bit Lifts 191 points192 points  (6 children)

Same. I debated watching it, I didn't want to know too much, but this was a perfect amount to show.

Gameplay variety, plenty of teases with no real answers.

Currently reading Divine Wind and I am super pumped!

[–]jbondyoda 12 points13 points  (5 children)

What other books do we need to be up on? I’ve got a bunch of audible credits sitting idle

[–]mrbubbamacYT: 8-Bit Lifts 23 points24 points  (4 children)

Tough to say, we know so little about the plot of Infinite. Here's kinda the best summary I can give you:

The Forerunner trilogy is an absolute beast (and I mean that in the best way possible). Takes place 100,000 years ago. Reason I bring it up is because the 2nd book, Primordium, takes place on Zeta Halo, where Infinite is going to be. Hard to say what kind of connections there will be, but might be worth checking out (or at least reading a synopsis).

Bad Blood, while it is a sequel to the short novel New Blood, takes place right after Halo 5. It stars Buck, and picks up the story after the game and goes a little more into the Created threat and the new state of the galaxy.

Legacy of Onyx also takes place after Halo 5, I wouldn't call it essential, it's very "young adult"-ish, but it is also a post-Halo 5 book.

Point of Light it itself a sequel to Renegades, also takes place after Halo 5, and briefly features Zeta Halo.

Shadows of Reach is likely the most "essential" even though I get the sense that back SoR and Infinite will be able to be enjoyed on their own. Shadows of Reach follows Blue Team, post-Halo 5, as they have to return to planet Reach.

And lastly, there is a book that came out last week called Divine Wind. Literally picks up hours after Shadows of Reach, stars Veta Lopis and her team of Spartan IIIs. I can't speak too much to this one because I am only 150 pages in. But it definitely features the Banished, so there could be some ties to Infinite.

Hope that helps!

[–]EatA11ThePie 363 points364 points  (10 children)

If I dont hear "I need the weapon" in the campaign, I'm gonna riot

[–]Iceman9161Halo Wars 2 218 points219 points  (6 children)

At the same time, if it’s something chief says 20% of the time when he requests an ordinance drop I will probably kill myself.

[–]Negcellent 113 points114 points  (5 children)

100% this, the multiplayer AI made me realise that cool one-liners become less and less cool every 100th time you hear them.

[–]Domestic_AA_Battery ONI 36 points37 points  (2 children)

The AI repetitiveness is really bad. One of the only things I complained about. I said they'd get a lot of money if there was a season pass that included a silent AI lol.

[–]StoBeneStallion 61 points62 points  (2 children)

I like the open world! My only concern is the consistent Pacific Northwest atmosphere. Here’s hoping they are hiding other biomes in the final game, and it’s not one long version of the second level in Combat Evolved.

[–]mrbubbamacYT: 8-Bit Lifts 339 points340 points  (4 children)

Once Chief exited the banshee mid air, blew up the second, then grappled and hijacked the third, I was sold.

[–]Memo_HS2022 130 points131 points  (1 child)

Rendezook: Halo Edition

[–]AFKeeker 27 points28 points  (1 child)

The grapple seems like it’s going to bring us the closest we’ve ever been to Spartans from the novels.

[–]horrificabortionHalo: CE - Halo 3 are the best Halos 174 points175 points  (28 children)

My only concern is that we'll be playing on the same location. I may be wrong, but I would love to see more varied biomes like in Halo CE

[–]Gabacuras 52 points53 points  (4 children)

Tbh im extremely surprised that we didn't see more environments.

[–][deleted] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they said there’d be different locations. And there’s probably gonna be expansions in the future since infinite is more of a platform.

[–]DrNopeMD 80 points81 points  (10 children)

I think they've said there are multiple large maps. It's not truly open world, so hopefully that means multiple biomes.

[–]himynameisneck HCS 216 points217 points  (3 children)

Holy shit it looks incredible.

[–]Insectshelf3 20 points21 points  (0 children)

so worth the year delay

[–]06marchantnFinish the Fight 142 points143 points  (14 children)

looks awesome can't wait to play it. I think the only downside I've noticed is theres a lack biomes or enviroments. Most of the game looks like the halo ce north western america type biome with some forerunner interiors.

[–]DrNopeMD 115 points116 points  (3 children)

I hope they're just hiding the other locations, they've been pretty secretive about story details for a while.

[–]KalebT44 137 points138 points  (15 children)

A lot of good stuff in this.

Vehicle selection, Forward Operating Bases acting as fast travel/rally points/call in for drops is going to be interesting. Definitely tweaks a bit of the open world Far Cry fears but it looks fun enough and definitely still like Halo that i'm excited.

Some of the upgrades seem neat, from what looks like an EMP effect on Grappleshot hit, to going Camo after Thrusters there's a nice bit of fuckin' around there.

Interested to see what some collectibles are, one looks to be the Spartan Cores shown off in the Upgrades screen which... could be a little grim if we pull them out of empty Spartan IV armour, would feel like Doom 2016 pulling out your upgrade cores from other dead soldiers.

The Cinematics look real pretty, and I love how much they're drilling in Chief as hope incarnate. Between these bits, and the MP Trailer of Spartans as a whole representing hope for this generation of Soldiers i'm very keen.

So glad we got more.

[–]Taiyaki11 52 points53 points  (9 children)

Oh god... didnt even think of that possibility for obtaining spartan cores...i love and hate that idea. Grim as fuck but damn if it wouldnt be fitting for halo

[–]KalebT44 15 points16 points  (3 children)

Plus with the UNSC losses and the Banished hoarding of tech.

Even if we don't take them from the Mjolnir the implication is still there I think.

[–]Lightspeed__Champion Halo: CE 89 points90 points  (0 children)

god damn that looks FUN

[–]xCeePee 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I feel like the trailer overview here was executed perfectly. Don’t remember seeing vehicle selection, but that was cool along with the upgrade paths to me.

The gameplay sequence freedom and potential seems cool, and I like being able to save the other soldiers and fighting with them lol.

[–]loafpleb 91 points92 points  (2 children)

Elites and Brutes fighting side-by-side. Mining facilities on a "sacred" Halo ring. Spartan Killers... You couldn't see this from the Covenant because of how superstitious they were and the pointless rivalries that the Prophets encouraged. The Banished just don't give a damn

The Harbinger looks reasonably powerful instead of being massively OP like Didact was

I wasn't expecting "The Weapon" to be so childlike. Looks like Chief is hopping on that "Sad Dad" protagonist wagon

I like that they went to the effort of designing Marines without armor. They actually look like POWs

[–]Snaz5 147 points148 points  (71 children)

i am... intrigued. Was that a Prelate?

[–]mrbubbamacYT: 8-Bit Lifts 113 points114 points  (35 children)

You mean the Harbinger? I don't think so, didn't look like one to me, but I could be wrong.

Almost seems like a brand new species we maybe haven't encountered before.

Edit: Here is what a prelate looks like

The more I look at Harbinger, the more it does look like a San Shyuum body though. So it might be a Prelate even though it has very different armor.

Very similar body to a Prelate. https://imgur.com/yaIuIGS.jpg

It's probably something new, but it would actually be really really cool if this was an ancient San'Shyuum.

Put simply they're the Prophet's version of Spartans.

[–]GREEN_X_118 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I've seen a video about those things they are scary

[–]wolseybaby 240 points241 points  (39 children)

I really hope they can pull off the open world while still keeping an engrossing story, if this is just a far cry clone it will be quite disappointing

[–]Texual_Deviant 170 points171 points  (9 children)

I expect it to function more like Metro Exodus than Far Cry. A bunch of large, but not truly massive, open world zones with their own story beats and side missions that you travel between on the Pelican.

[–]wolseybaby 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Hopefully, would be nice if all the outposts had some sort of story relevance with different characteristics rather than having to liberate the exact same 300 in different locations

[–]DrNopeMD 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's my biggest concern is that there won't be enough mission variety to justify the open world.

I'm hoping there are small dungeons we can find and explore, imagine if you could acquire Legendary weapons similar to the unique items from Warzone but you had to unlock them by exploring.

Halo Infinite really makes you feel like Master Chief.

This actually looks super fun. Can't wait to zip and thrust around killing enemies. Also, banshee rendezook. And the spartan killer. And saving marines. And vehicle drops. And improved brute face.

There's just a bunch of cool shit in here. I'm excited.

The new AI intrigued me, when she said if what Cortana did was really that bad i wondered if in the end she would end up helping Cortana or maybe even get persuaded by her. Super excited to play this.

The weapons is so adorably naive, I love it.

Also Chief talking about the banished outpost and say "let's take it out, permanently" makes me think outposts don't respawn, which is how I favor it. Of course it could be a throwaway line, but I suspect not.

the year delay was totally worth it. looks way, way better

it looks fun as hell. i do get a bit worried about the ubisoft style open world though, i stopped buying ubisoft games because i was sick of that formula. hopefully it being halo breaks up that loop a bit

[–]Spicy_Ahoy86 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ye. I think the new structure kinda lives or dies depending on how fun the gameplay is (weapon variety, grapple hook, dash, etc). I'm definitely excited that 343 is trying something new though and that most importantly it looks FUN.

I’m satisfied. Roll on 8/12.

Gameplay and visuals look solid to me, nice.

I still have no idea what the main premise or stakes are though. The banished have decimated humanity and Cortana is off the grid, but we knew that before. This trailer didn't feel like it shed much light on the motivations of any of the villains or the mythos of Halo, just name dropped some new targets for master Chief's holiday hunting resort with his new AI.

I hope the campaign explains the missing elements well enough through gameplay this time, it would be a shame to make it a hat trick on that aspect where 343i seems to often exclude major events and character development from the mainline games. That said, I'm still looking forward to playing it and judging it fairly on what we end up with when we can play it on release.

Genuinely seems like they are embracing what makes halo fun. I'm definitely hyped now.

Halo: Breath of the Wild

No but seriously, this looks amazing. Massive dub again, hope it delivers.

PS: I hope we can finally say goodbye to Cortana, I already like Weapon and it would do wonder for the series if she were to stay, shaking up thing.

PS: Jen Taylor still has the voice of an angel!

Feel like not enough ppl are talking about the music. So glad it’s back

Really can't wait to rewatch this at 2160p on my TV at home. The stream at 1080 looked compressed as hell, but I still enjoyed it.
