Frank Vogel
It was all Frank Vogel’s fault! No point guard, no rim protection, and a 50m new piece who missed 1/3 of the season like he always does and then CRATERED in the playoffs. Oh and no bench cuz they traded everything for 2 guys. And ran against the best D in 20 years. #blamevogel
Vogel wins the title in 2020, then within a year Pelinka turns KCP and Caruso into Russ, complete disaster, somehow it’s Vogel’s fault, so they fire him and “upgrade” to Darvin Ham … who just got fired. Just have your best player coach the team. Bring back player-coaches.
PS: Last week cuz who else could do it? Well - maybe KD should coach the Suns? Would be fun if this became the league’s new strategy zag — player-coaches. Why not?
-
Pelinka never really seemed like he had faith in Vogel as the long term coach (lowballed him with his contract + only a years extension after the bubble)
-
Everyone knew Vogel was out. Nobody can deny it needed to happen
-
Pelinka should be ashamed and embarrassed that he fired a coach through a tweet from Woj
-
No coach worth their salt should want the job seeing that (mentions Nurse, Snyder, Rivers)
-
Magic Johnson leaving left Pelinka with a reputation as a backstabber that he has been fighting hard to shed. Does not believe that will change now
-
Vogel still has had no contact with Pelinka or other hugh level staff since the report
-
Demarcus Cousins "The man didnt even make it to the fucking flight!"
-
Despite his many faults, Vogel should be proud. He won a ring and handled the Kobe Bryant tragedy with grace as the defacto spokesperson for the Lakers
-
Vogel was very close to being fired in January. A win in Utah kept him safe
-
He believes that the Lakers will have to go for "another Vogel" I.e. a coach who has spent a year + out of the league or out as a HC - Joerger, Stotts, Mike Brown mentioned
I understand Udoka has a relationship with most of that roster, but this organization is shameless. Joe Tsai should be ashamed. There are so many other qualified and good coaches available that don't have Udoka's off the court issues

Reggie Miller on the Clips: "You can’t tell me it was all about chemistry. Their cross-town rival has a brand-new coach in Frank Vogel. They’ve got, what, 6-7 new players as well? Avery Bradley is not even in the bubble? … So everyone’s dealing with chemistry in the restart."
Thoughts? George Paul in his post-game interview said the lack of chemistry is the biggest reason they lost but other teams have had to adapt to new players and coaches too.
Jared Dudley talking very candidly of Lakers' journey to the 2020 Championship in the bubble and praising Frank Vogel in comparison to other coaches he's had (mentions Doc Rivers), highlighting his top tier preparation being the best he's ever had since being in the league.
Vogel is underrated as coach and I think he did everything right during the Finals and wasn't afraid to continually change strategies, starting lineups to give his team the best opportunity to succeed.
(around 52:30)
Frank Vogel on benching Russell Westbrook in OT: "Hopefully the response is that player plays better."
Lebron’s post game interview was a message to Westbrook about accountability to the coaching staff…
Frank Vogel on benching Russ for the last 4 minutes: "Playing the guys I thought would win the game."
Vogel has never said something like this about Russ since the beginning of the season. Is this a sign that Vogel is most likely gone now?
"I've never had issues with any coaches," Westbrook said, sharing a story of how he sent Frank Vogel and his wife a bottle of champagne for their anniversary.
"I'm not sure what his issue was with me... That's something that he has to answer."
Russ is so delusional as if Vogel is the reason he played so poorly. Sigh
