I do, because I wouldn't be able to play multiplayer

[–]mrlol125 10 points11 points  (2 children)

There are some existing cross play servers

[–]Invalid_Word 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think when people say “version” they mean like 1.8, 1.12, 1.16 etc. Bedrock and Java are edition

[–]Mr-villager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not servers. I mean local

[–]Invalid_Word -5 points-4 points  (6 children)

What does version have to do with multiplayer

[–]Mr-villager 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Can't play multiplayer with between different versions

Maybe it's only a MCPE thing I don't know about the rest

[–]kuodron 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's the case with most versions. Some java servers like hypixel pull some plugin magic that allows anyone to play on any version between 1.8.9 and 1.20

[–]ImpossibleEvan 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Java needs servers, bedrock doesn't

[–]Luko04 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Not true, you can install hamachi and invite your friend in your single player world

[–]ImpossibleEvan 1 point2 points  (1 child)

So you have to install third party applications, doesn't count.

[–]Luko04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarely, you can change your router settings too but it,s not practical cause you must change them wvery time you open your world to lan, hamachi is just to make things easier

[–]DizzyE48q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah you can play 1.18 1.17. 1.16 on most multiplayer servers

[–]comicalben 25 points26 points  (19 children)

Yeah the Bedrock vs Java debate is kinda dumb

Just let people play the version that they want

Bedrock is a bit buggy, but it has better performance on lower-end devices

And bridging with blocks is way easier on Bedrock

Java is really laggy if you don't have a high end pc or optifine, which is a serious issue the devs need to work on.

I'm a Java minecraft player, but I still admit we got some problems to work out. We need optimization like Bedrock has, and Bedrock needs more bug fixes

Also some parity updates would be good. Give us Java players the posable armor stands, better bridging, camera angle commands, tipped arrows with cauldrons, and the big salmon

[–]Metson-202[S] 18 points19 points  (3 children)

B I G S A L M O N

[–]Elijah_ManMinecraft? I'm not building a mine!?! 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Big salmon has to be the biggest tragedy that it's not in java. Like just give us big salmon.

[–]NamelessOneMCD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BIG SALMON ENERGY

[–]Ketchoop_Cheeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actual official avatar maker in the game, with 3d accessories

[–]Jess_4126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't forget being able to dye water in cauldrons and mixing the colors to make custom ones, one of my favorite bedrock features

[–]Invalid_Word 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I think when people say “version” they mean like 1.8, 1.12, 1.16 etc. Bedrock and Java are edition

[–]Numerous-Future-2653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No the OP said himself he meant edition. Edition just doesn’t roll of the tongue as well, and no one cares what version you play on

[–]ImpossibleEvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And give bedrock display entities, /setbiome, hardcore mode, and building on the nether roof. (Also maybe revamp the glowing arrow so they can be added to bedrock)

[–]AlchemyScorch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Your wrong, nobody wants to be playing edition, it’s the buggy shitty version of the game that corrupts and breaks all the time, I’ve played on bedrock since the day it released and I can tell you I’ve never gone a month without a world corrupting a pack breaking or some other ridiculous issue which is still in the game today and it’s genuinely one of the least optimised games of all time, sometimes I’ll load into the game and and be averaging 10 fps on a series X until I restart and it’s magically fixed. Bedrock absolutely sucks, it’s one of the shoddiest games I’ve ever played.

[–]x_Mr_burns_x -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

i feel completely disconnected from this debate because java with no mods runs better than bedrock on my (potato) pc, and no matter how hard i try i have only been able to bridge on java. to me bedrock is the version you have to play with your console friends because they dont want to put the effort into buying a PC. its the version that makes you pay for basic features, and it is inherently inferior to java in basically every way. do i care if people play it or somehow prefer it? couldnt care less honestly, though, it seems pretty clear that the goal of the people in charge is to remove java entirely. this debate didn't exist when "bedrock" had a different name. now we're at a point where people think they're the same or similar quality. not because they actually are the same, but because it's the version that most people use. I couldn't blame java users for their opinions of bedrock, but bedrock players aren't to blame. it's the people in charge of the game that overmonitor and overmonitize because they can. with a game this big though, you can't please everyone. their goals are earnings, which is fair..

[–]Numerous-Future-2653 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I mean, we don’t pay for basic features. There are lesser known websites that allow add on creators to publish their stuff, and people only watch some ads for that. Tell me, how do you join peoples worlds in Java? Essential mod? Lunar client? Well here it’s built in that anyone you friend, they can join your world and you can join theirs. That’s honestly one of the best things about bedrock. Try lowering your bedrock render distance, bedrock render distance is automatically really high because it can just run that easier.

[–]x_Mr_burns_x 0 points1 point  (1 child)

umm. we do pay for basic features. skins, texture packs, world downloads. all free, basic features on java that we have to pay for on bedrock. i dont need tech support. been playing Minecraft since it was a demo in a browser window. the game just does not run as good in my experience. ive definitely tried everything there is to try when it comes to optimization on bedrock.

on java, hell its been years because everyone i play minecraft with uses console, but iirc i downloaded the minecraft server jar from their website, dropped it into a folder, and ran it. i give the ip to my friend and they join. nowadays java has realms too i think. though.. wouldnt you think a friend system click to join on java would be a good thing to develop? i wonder why they havent done it.. its almost like they have a different version of the game that they prefer you using because you're paying them for basic features there...

[–]Numerous-Future-2653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m saying that there are lesser known websites that offer those for free. It’s a common misconception. Try MCPEDL, don’t click on any adfly ads and search up linkvertise skipper extension for your browser. Not any less complicated than the Java mod installation method. And even better you can have these mods on multiple worlds, and some without those mods

[–]One-Hat-9764 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Actually I found out from a java player you can pose armor stands if you have used the command for giving them arms in java. I never knew that before. Also can I ask how bridging easier on bedrock?

[–]comicalben 0 points1 point  (2 children)

On java you have to crouch and walk backwards

On Bedrock you can just walk and place blocks in front of you

[–]One-Hat-9764 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Wait what? Why you have to walk backwards which crouching in java???

[–]comicalben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you can't place a block on the side of another block without seeing the side you want to place it on

[–]Luko04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but the poster didn't specify if they meant to say java/ bedrock or 1.8.9/ 1.20.1 and about the java vs bedrock debate I absolutely agree, about the other versions I think 1.8 players are ruining build battles on hypixel, letting player use just the blocks of 1.8.

[–]ThyTeaDrinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only issue they might see is that by giving Java the good features and less lag, no-one would play bedrock on PC (which is less money)

[–]KittyQueen_TenguReceived: 0 11 points12 points  (15 children)

both versions of minecraft have their pros and cons and it’s up to your personal preference. i personally prefer Java but there are some bedrock features i’d love, like allowing skin items to be 3d

[–]One-Hat-9764 2 points3 points  (11 children)

Come again? Wym but skin items to be 3d???

[–]KittyQueen_TenguReceived: 0 3 points4 points  (10 children)

some of the cosmetics in bedrock are 3d objects that go outside of the regular blocky shapes of the model

[–]AlchemyScorch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if you spend monnnnneeyyyyy. You can’t create your own it’s just a cash shop thing.

[–]One-Hat-9764 -2 points-1 points  (8 children)

I am gonna be a need a example to understand what you mean by that.

[–]KittyQueen_TenguReceived: 0 1 point2 points  (7 children)

like the wings and some of the hair styles

[–]One-Hat-9764 -3 points-2 points  (6 children)

Oh like that, is that not what they look like in java???

[–]KittyQueen_TenguReceived: 0 1 point2 points  (5 children)

you can’t have 3d cosmetics in java i think, at least not without mods

[–]One-Hat-9764 -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

How does elytra look in java then if it not 3d?????

[–]KittyQueen_TenguReceived: 0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh yeah the elytra is 3d, but that’s an in game item not a part of your skin

[–]EarthTrashCreeper hissing noise 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Java supports 3d skins without mods, though maybe not everything that's possible on bedrock.

[–]Splatoonkindaguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can have a second layer but I don’t think you can have 3D?

[–]KittyQueen_TenguReceived: 0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it does? huh i didnt know that

[–]Invalid_Word 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think when people say “version” they mean like 1.8, 1.12, 1.16 etc. Bedrock and Java are edition

[–]EarthTrashCreeper hissing noise 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Java skins have been 3d for a while now. My current skin has sleeves and pockets that pop out. I have previously done skins with a beard that sticks out. Download the template and make your own in your pixel editor of choice.

[–]KittyQueen_TenguReceived: 0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah they do have that one layer of 3d, but not the whole objects thing

I don't care what version of Minecraft people play on... But the bedrock wither is harder.

[–]Shadeersosoo2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is more true than ever since the deva have been speed running Java features into bedrock with every update. I am not mad at this by any means. I have always owned an Xbox but only got a PC 2 years ago, so naturally, I grew up with 360 edition, then Xbox One edition, the bedrock edition. I still only play on bedrock for this reason, even though I play minecraft more on PC now. I see both sides. Some of the arguments Java players used to make against bedrock no longer stand.

i kinda do… bedrock redstone SUCKS

[–]Metson-202[S] 4 points5 points  (11 children)

What's the difference, I only know that chests are movable on bedrock which is positive.

[–]Odsoone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the technical side is that some things with close timing work differently in even/odd ticks

[–]One-Hat-9764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any tile entities, or whatever storage blocks like chests and barrels and whatever lectern is considered, can be loved with pistons and sticky pistons In java btw.

[–]Pignity69Custom user flair -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

bedrock redstone doesnt make sense, same contraption can work a few times and suddenly completely break, I tried redstone on bedrock and it is hella pain

edit: and there is no zero tick pistonand quasi connectivity which is rly useful

[–]ImpossibleEvan 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Bedrock Redstone is just simpler and follows logic, if it breaks, it is your fault, I have never had my redstone break from a bug, but I have on Java.

[–]Pignity69Custom user flair -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

tell the redstone and technicalmc community this, java redstone is way more stable

[–]National-Bison-3236MCSM remastered when -1 points0 points  (3 children)

No mods, texture packs and maps cost money and multiplayer costs money too (realms)

[–]ImpossibleEvan 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Multiplayer doesn't need a realm or server on bedrock. Also add-ons and resource packs, can be gotten the same way they are on Java, the marketplace is optional to buy from and there are other ways and better add-ons online.

[–]National-Bison-3236MCSM remastered when -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

You seem to forget about the fact that Bedrock is mainly for consoles and not PC

[–]ImpossibleEvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play on pc

[–]EarthTrashCreeper hissing noise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Timing is the big one. Java redstone ticks are faster than game ticks. Bedrock game ticks are redstone ticks. There's also some useful bugs in Java that were never imported to Bedrock. Machines that are too fast, or rely on block drops, or quasi connectivity just won't work in Bedrock.

[–]YEF-Moment13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's inconsistent, which is probably the worst thing to happen on an electrical system. I suggest you watch Mumbo Jumbo's Bedrock video

[–]BluePotatoSlayer -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Just because you don’t understand it or can’t find a tutorial for Bedrock (not java) doesn’t mean its bad

[–]Odsoone -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I do understand it and I don’t want to have to look something up every time I make something. In case your wondering why it sucks. I believe it’s that when things have close timing some things only work on even/odd ticks. And if things have the same tick (like 0 tick machines) the thing that works is chosen at random which means you have to have an excessive amount of delay for everything

[–]Invalid_Word 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I think when people say “version” they mean like 1.8, 1.12, 1.16 etc. Bedrock and Java are edition

[–]RamoPlayz -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

[–]ZuphCud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play heavily modded for all I care.

[–]DarkFluo Cave update sucked, fight me 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Doesn't mean a version can't be bad tbh.

Bedrock edition isn't the wrong way to play, but it's not the best either. For sure.

[–]ImpossibleEvan 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Bedrock is the better option for most people if you have a mid-low tier device due to the massively better performance than Java even with optifine. Java has better mods though which is the only reason I play Java.

[–]DarkFluo Cave update sucked, fight me 0 points1 point  (4 children)

It's not because it's more accessible that it better though

And honestly the Java version runs more than decently enough. If you need for the game to run at 120fps with massive quality to play, you can't really be considered the "average player"

[–]ImpossibleEvan 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Not everyone has a computer worth more than 500

[–]DarkFluo Cave update sucked, fight me -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Always cool to have people assuming stuff they shouldn't

And yoy don't need a 500 bucks or more PC to run Minecraft at 30 to 60fps

And honestly I love hearing "500 pc". It's incredible, do people just assume consoles are free? Current price for a PS5, Nearly or even more than 500.

[–]ImpossibleEvan 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You didn't say 30-60 you said 120

[–]DarkFluo Cave update sucked, fight me -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I said thinking that Minecraft should run at 120fps is unreasonable. If you don't take the time to read what I say there's no point in replying

[–]YEF-Moment13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only option*

I'm telling you, if consoles had java, nobody would play bedrock on them (at least the current gen ones)

[–]Sir_Toaster_9330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play Minecraft, how can you tell?

[–]CelticRaider9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Giga Chad argument is “maintaining the Java vs Bedrock debate forces the developers to improve both versions, as seen with the parity patches”

[–]ImpossibleEvan 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yep, they both have features the other doesn't. Java has better mods, hardcore, nether roof building, setbiome command, and you can go out a million blocks if you for some reason need to. Bedrock has: Faster performance, nonlocal multiplayer without needing a server, 4d skin, and the camera command.

[–]Metson-202[S] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

What the hell is 4D? It's 3D because 4D can't really be seen because how complex it is.

[–]ImpossibleEvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why don't people just Google this? Everytime I say 4D skins I always get a "erm akshlualy 🤓 4d ❌ real!!!" I didn't choose to call it that, Mojang themselves call them 4d skins (new dimension is creativity or some dumbsh*t) pleas for the love of God people search it up before downvoting.
