I mean obviously she is a real human being and I'm really glad that they are showing her actual self in this season - it was definitely numbed down in season #1. But does anyone else not like her at all?! She's so rude, ridiculously classist, etc etc. I'm watching it anyway because it's an important part of British lesbian history, and everyone is complex with their own stuff going on - but goodness I fancied her like mad (ok maybe still do haha) at the beginning of this season and now I'm like.... meh.
It's lovely to see Ann Walker come out of her shell though. Her bit about motherhood was so beautiful and I remember feeling similar before I realised I could in fact have children with another woman.

The tv show portrays their story as a romantic story, but really A. L. was only with A. W. because she couldn't be with the love of her life, and she was rich. On the other hand A. W. might have been truly in love, and it makes the story sadder.
And I know that they were real people with real flaws, but I still feel, that they relationship isn't what you would consider a true love story.

I'm only on season 2 ep 1, so please no spoilers beyond. And SPOILER ALERT for episodes until season 2 ep 1.
Does Anne actually love Ann? When she was in York, she visited a friend, didn't catch her name, but she bought a pint of the friend's husband. While there, she all but said she wasn't in Love with Ann. I thought we settled all that last season. I thought she came to realize she actually did love her. All that affection and agony she had wasn't just for someone she's just 'fond' of. I hate that I can't help feeling like she's using her just as much as the rest of her family wants to use her. Like I know a part of her has genuine concern for Ann, but I don't like that a significant part of her also really wants her money, ya know? Anyway, just wanted to vent lol

Okay, loving the show!! I re-watch it all the time. Do we think a modern day Anne Lister would be a physician? Or a powerful business woman?? Politician? What is her biggest passion? I am so inspired to think of her in the year 2022.
Also, what would Anne Walker do today? She’s low key my favorite character guys. Such a sweetie!
Tell me your thoughts!

Okay I know a lot of people say Anne Lister did not love Ann Walker but just settled for her but I think Anne loved Ann. She left her the shibden hall in her will. That place was the singular most important thing to her and she could have left it to her sister or other members of the family if she wanted to. She left it to Ann because she trusted her and loved her.
Does anybody want to discuss this with me?
