I noticed that the show is glamorizing Anna Delvey so much. Many of the casts there calling her "pretty, barbie", but let's be honest she is not that pretty! Yes I understand beauty is subjective. But she is not Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston, or whoever blonde-looking celebrities out there you name it. I looked at all of her Insta posts and she is just a plain looking girl. I honestly think there is a race-biased in this world that associate wealth with being blonde, barbie-like (even though she doesn't look like a barbie at all). Do you think Neff, Val and other people would have fall for the scam if it was a Black/Asian looking Anna Delvey claiming that they are trust fund babies? I don't think so.

p.s. call your Senators/Representatives to deport her back to Germany immediately.

Was hoping for a deep dive listen, kinda fascinated by this case.

Every day she spirals more and more and I’m realizing this is a person who actually has no idea how to cook, no nuanced understanding of flavor or cooking technique and really no passion for food or culture at all. Just throws things together that look nice, which I will say she’s an amazing food stylist, but how has she duped millions of people into thinking she’s a cooking superstar?!?!?

The most recent grifter I can think of was , the 40something fake Iraqi general who murdered his 90 year old wife. Completely fabriated his backstory, diplomatic connections, and actually made it into Georgetown society for a bit before the ruse fell apart.

Also this , who somehow ended up on a first-name basis with Donald Rumsfeld?? During the aughties he frequently appeared on Fox News to tout his--completely invented--distinguished intelligence career. Interestingly enough, the fake agent's family still lives in the area. According to the podcast, his son is a real Secret Service agent (another occupation that grifters love to claim).

Murderers notwithstanding, there's lots of little ones who fly under the radar & never make the news. Fake White House staffers, fake Navy Seals, fake Pentagon admirals, etc etc. Some of them are more prosaic, run-of-mill grifters. At least those ones are smart enough to keep the ruse believable. Those of us who've lived here long enough, we've all run into a few.

They lie to their roommates or hinge dates, claiming they hold a TS & work at the State Dept when actually they got booted during the clearance process & are just temping at some (much less prestigious) federal agency (true story, this was one of my old roommates).

Sometimes they just seem to be motivated by the attention? Some insufficiency inside themselves that they're trying to cover. Others are way more manipulative, after sex/money/power. Who did you meet, and what was their motive(s)? How did you sniff out the lies?

who nominated [Mina Chang]() Appears to have stayed in the DMV, which is an intriguing choice when your grift has been outed so publically (though Wallmelter points out that there was such a deluge of scandals under Trump that hers flew under the radar)

who nominated [Stephen Glass]() Interesting case of a grifter failing upwards--even after getting caught out in a big way.

The only thing that kept me watching this show was because I was so curious as to why Anna did what she did. If she had an eidetic memory then she could learn anything she wanted and be successful in life. Why didn't she go to college? Why did she leave Germany? I am also really curious about how she got funds for leaving her home country and staying abroad. People says the show is glamorizing Anna so much but to get to where she had, she must really be something. I understand the obsession of the lawyer and journalist with Anna because what she did is really fascinating. A story to be told indeed.

Did you all see this? Not sure if she counts as an influencer, but Anna Delvey just signed a deal for a reality show where she'll host dinner parties with "esteemed guests" while she's on house arrest. Can't wait to see what influencers score invites to this train wreck.

Just went to her Instagram and there is just DRONES of Anna Delvey fanatics, and mind you fanatics of the "Netflix's version of Anna Delvey", is just mindlessly attacking this woman over a show.

It's just disgusting. Honestly, I don't see any problem with what Rachel did. She made lemonade out the of the lemons she was given.
