Are there any cults in the Ankeny area specifically that people need to know about and steer clear of?

Almost everyone I talk to acts like Ankeny is the best little place on earth. Like a little slice of heaven right in our metro. Everyone talks about how great the schools are, how nice the houses are, how clean it is, how much there is to do, and how it’s wonderfully located.

Ankeny is just as mediocre as any other suburb in this podunk metro

Edit: I’m not from the metro originally, and practically everyone from the more rural areas and southern end of the metro just live ankeny and tell me how nice it is. And ofc ankeny residents themselves

My family had a big family dinner Saturday night at the Ankeny location. My father in law and I had the same thing (The Jethro) and we both woke up Monday morning feeling horrible. I’ll save the messy details but it got bad. So maybe just stick with wings next time.

So Kimberly Reicks got arrested (again? I don't think this is the first time). She was booked for destroying someone else's mattress and clothing. With her kid there. Then apparently bragged about it at the time and made a TikTok video about it later.

Ankeny, Iowa. Our future. This is who our state government publicly allies with. Totally balanced and normal people like her.

Since there's no longer an Ankeny subreddit, I thought I'd post here:

After much consideration, I am excited to announce that I am running for reelection to the Ankeny City Council.

Serving on the Ankeny City Council these past 4 years has been the honor of a lifetime.

We have accomplished so much over these past few years, keeping up with the city's infrastructure needs while still keeping taxes low.

I am especially proud of the new Ankeny Senior and Community Center and the new High Trestle Trail bridge over Oralabor.

There is still much left to do, though, as Ankeny continues to be one of the fastest growing cities in Iowa.

In fact, as of a 2021 estimate from the U.S. Census Bureau, Ankeny is the 6th largest city in the state of Iowa. At the current pace, we could overtake Iowa City by 2030, becoming the 5th largest city in Iowa.

With new growth comes new challenges and new possibilities.

I have the experience to meet these new challenges and the vision to explore these new possibilities, which is why I am asking for your vote on November 7th.

My husband, kiddos and I moved to DSM last month. We are currently renting in the Urbandale area and love it. We are wanting to purchase a home and have been searching in the WDM, Urbandale, Clive and Johnston areas. Someone recently suggested Ankeny, and we’ve heard some mixed things about Ankeny.

What are everyone’s experience’s and thoughts, if any… on Ankeny?

Two employees involved with an after-school drag performance that caused controversy this spring are still employed with the Ankeny Community School District, following an internal investigation.

Tomorrow evening is when Ankeny hears from the community regarding masks and the lawsuit.

They’ve made it so those who are at high risk can only attend. . . at significant risk.

The meeting is being held indoors, no Covid mitigations will be taken, and the QAmoms will be there maskless with their maskless children to “prove a point.”

What?! Does anyone see the irony here?!

They literally got sued for this exact situation in the schools. The premise of the lawsuit, as I understand it, is by not requiring masks, kids at high risk are being left out per ADA act.

I am not getting my hopes up that they’ll mandate masks.

And they’re pulling over everybody.

At least 5 pulled over on Oralabor, 4 on HW69. Saw squad cars from four different surrounding cities. Would imagine they’re all over i35 as well.

Any idea what’s going on in Ankeny? There’s around 8-10 patrolling magazine (district side).

Is anyone aware of the MLM scheme going on at this gym? My bf has been approached twice now by two guys, telling him there’s a couple that’s teaching them how to make “passive income”. It’s strange and I wonder if any of y’all have had an experience like this?

The Des Moines metro growth is because of the suburbs. Des Moines proper actually lost residents

The metropolitan statistical area that covers Dallas, Guthrie, Jasper, Madison, Polk and Warren counties continues to be the fastest major growth center in the Midwest.

added about 9,700 residents from April 2020 to July 2021, a 1.4% increase, putting Des Moines among the top 20% of fastest-growing metros. It ranked 74th in population among metropolitan statistical areas in the United States.

In the Midwest, it added population at twice the rate of the second-fastest growing metro, Indianapolis, which saw a 0.7% population increase.

Of the 16  Midwestern metros in the nation's top 100, Des Moines was one of eight that  gained residents.
