r/RetroFuturism

This subreddit focuses on the futurist visions of eras past. However posts may also contain contemporary art with a retrofuturist theme. Futurism was born out of humanity's sudden thrust into technological revolution. To the many that witnessed the dramatic, rapid change, it seemed a technological utopia was fast approaching. This unbridled optimism caused the collective imagination to run wild.

Andrei Tarkovsky’s ‘Nostalghia’ 4K Restoration Flies At Film Forum As Repertory Draws Audiences – Specialty Box Office

TIL that upon its release 'Stalker', a film by Andrei Tarkovsky, was criticized for being slow. In response to this Tarkovsky replied "The film needs to be slower and duller at the start so that the viewers who walked into the wrong theatre have time to leave before the main action starts."

I got my ticket already but thought I'd post here in case any other movie/cinema/film folks are interested! I've only seen a couple of his films and they definitely leave me with plenty to think about after... Kinda "long and boring" for most of my friends but I'm happy to enjoy my long and boring films solo if I gotta.

I haven't been in Seattle very long and I'm trying to find some art/creative community out here. I'll see it at 7pm so say hey if you're around :)
