Edit: to be clear, I'm not calling Kaleb--nor Karl Pilkington--an idiot. Ricky Gervais was just being an absolute asshat to his "friend" Karl with that title. I just want to see someone who's extremely well traveled arrange a world tour for someone who's extremely not traveled. And get Kaleb's fresh takes.

I just hope that the Asian community knows that not every foreigner is like this absolute chum-bucket of a human. I was in Tokyo earlier last month and was treated with nothing but respect by everyone I encountered. It was clean, orderly, quiet and friendly. To think that someone like Somali could ruin relations with the Japanese people just because he wants clout is reprehensible. I like to think that Japanese people are smart enough to separate all of us, but I wouldn't blame them a bit if they just called it a day when dealing with anyone even remotely associated with Johnny and his kind. Again, I appreciate how my family and I were treated there, and hope relations will continue to be positive, regardless the impact of people like Somali and his ilk.

I don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion or not but I find Karl way more funny in the XFM shows than in an Idiot Abroad, does anyone else agree?

I began watching this show based on a recommendation from a friend of mine. I went into it as something to watch while I wrote my thesis paper for Grad school..... Around 2 episodes later i snapped out of it while loading the 3rd episode and none of the paper had been completed. If you are looking to legit laugh out loud and a person (Karl Pilkington) who you will adore, i suggest starting this immediately. Also Stephen Merchant and Ricky Gervais are the producers in the show and are the ones who give Karl takes as he travels the world learning new cultures. Click to watch on Netflix

I used to be able to find it on Netflix, but it has since disappeared there. I also haven’t been able to find it on Hulu or any other platform like that. Where can I watch an idiot abroad in the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand and Twenty Three?

…is the joke is supposed to be how ignorant and moany Karl is in these situations and how Ricky and Steve are the broad minded ones but i guarantee if Ricky had to do the stuff Karl did, he’d be just as bad if not worse. I think Steve would’ve been okay and adjusted but we know Ricky is a nightmare when people eat too loud, he would’ve hated every second.

Just been re watching it again…. It’s so simple yet comedy gold. Not only that, it’s got a feel of mates being mates taking the mick out of each other. Priceless
