American Horror Story: Asylum

AHS: Asylum holds up remarkably well and makes me sad they never attempted anything that ambitious again.

I remember when the first season aired I was kind of lackluster about the series, stopped watching halfway through. Then I heard it would be an anthology show and the second season hit. It had everything I wanted, great sets, actors, storylines, practical effects.

Now it kind of feels like they used up every cool idea they could think up in this season. Aliens, Nazis, Santa, monsters, possession, serial killers, 60s mental hospital with the terror of the time fully realized. Sure, it went off the deep end a few times but it keeps the atmosphere and tension going right to the end. And damn it got some amazing performances from everyone, especially Jessica Lange in probably her greatest role which, considering her amazing career, is impressive.

It’s a real shame they leaned into camp for much of the subsequent seasons. There are some great moments in Hotel and Roanoke but mostly the storylines fall apart and they focus more on style and cheesy homages than the insane level of quality they put into Asylum. But season two stands alone as a great addition to horror television, and maybe that’s enough.

AHS: Asylum Sister Mary Eunice

So I’m rewatching AHS Season 2 Asylum: We all saw Sister Mary Eunice gets possessed by Satan. But i’ve always wondered why she acted so normal (and evil of course). Previously, all people that Satan possessed went crazy (E.G jed potter, ate a cows heart and his was face was all ugly and scarred . by the end he was on death’s door. screaming and struggling)

How how sister mary eunice never became ugly, scarred or even went crazy screaming everywhere. It’s almost like she accepted Satan and was thriving with him inside her! Maybe she wanted to be that way??

AHS Asylum main characters ranked

So I just finished watching AHS Asylum and I’m going to be ranking all of the main characters worst to best

8. Arthur Arden Not much to say about him other than him being a nazi and a creep to Mary Eunice he’s just a villain and not much else

7. Grace I her story is super tragic but there’s not much else to talk about

6. Timothy Howard Now where getting into the really good characters Timothy a jerk but he’s a realistic jerk he is horrified by what he’s done but also keeps doing it due to his lust for power

5. Mary Eunice Poor girl went through so much her struggle with the Devil was guinenely heartbreaking

4. Kit I love Kit so much he’s such a kind dude the degree of stuff he went through is insane I’m glad he got a happy ending also we love a poly icon

3. Bloodyface This right here this is what Tate Langdon should have been pure evil yet sympathetic without being romanticized just a really good character and really shows what I lack of love can do to a child not that he’s a victim of course not but he is sympathetic

2. Lana Winters She went through so much this season and had insane character growth

  1. Sister Jude Had even more development than Lana and might have sufered more even if it was probably deserved I also love how at the end of her story it sort of left up to the viewer if she’s truly paid for her actions

AHS Asylum: What is with Grace’s accent?

I’m doing a rewatch of all the seasons and I’m currently on Asylum. Listening to Grace speak, her accent is just- it’s French one second, then she sounds like she’s from somewhere in New York like Kit. What’s the deal? Is it a character choice by the director or could the actress not do the right accent constantly?

AHS ASYLUM- what was the deal with all them alien things?

I’ve watched Asylum 3 times now and I just can’t understand the deal with the aliens and the microchip thing that had legs in Kit’s neck?? Please don’t judge if I have missed the whole point of Asylum but I was more interested in Dr Threadson and Lana than the aliens.
