AMD Ryzen 9 5900X vs Ryzen 7 5800X3D. Do they have a big difference?

Or did I mess up by buying the 5900X? My rig's not gonna see a ton of high-end/AAA gaming (honestly CS2/Dark Souls might be the hardest I'll push it or so) and I'm curious to see what the difference between the two really is.

I could drop my parts list here if anyone's interested in my build also.

Edit: To clear confusion, the GPU that will pair these CPUs will be an ASUS RTX 4070 TUF Gaming gaming OC which I specifically avoided as I'm not a fan of OCs, but was the only 4070 tuf gaming model they had :/

also it won't be used for gaming only. I plan to stream/edit videos on it also.

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X OR Intel i9-10900K CPU in 2021?

Hi Friends

Comparing these two CPU's the Ryzen 9 5900X is the more expensive CPU. Is it wise to got for the Intel i9-10900K CPU and save some money or should I go with the Ryzen 9 5900X CPU?

My system will be having an RTX3080 GPU and will only be Gaming + Streaming (Simultaneously) and will be running video editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro and other software. Simultaneous tasks will only be in gaming and streaming and not other things. In Gaming, I prefer to use a minimum 2K resolution and 4K also.

Are there any considerable differences between the two CPU's for me to consider the Ryzen 9 5900X over the Intel i9-10900K?
Also on the userbenchmark.com website, i9-10900K CPU is Rank 1 and Ryzen 9 5900X is Rank 3.

Please provide your inputs.

Thanks in advance

Would you recommend using an AMD Ryzen 9 5900X in 2023?

Hey, I am thinking about upgrading my system to an AMD Ryzen 5900X since on paper - at least for me - it looks very decent. With twelve cores running at 3.7GHz standard clock and up to 4.8GHz on turbo, it seems like a good option, especially for the money.

Do you agree?
My graphics card is an "older" 1060, but the PC doesn't have to be able to do everything, it's just used for a bit of uni and occasional gaming, nothing special.

Because I have to replace the mainboard anyway, I would also take an Intel processor, I don't really care. So if you have a better idea, please let me know.

The budget is 350€/$ for the mainboard and CPU together (I would buy both used).

Thanks in advance

Amd Ryzen 9 5900x CPU. SOLIDWORKS runs very laggy. Please help 🥺

Update. I fixed this issue with resetting solidworks settings. The old settings were copied with sw wizard from my 2015 version of solidworks - didn't check at all sw 2020 with default settings.

Hello. I am in real trouble so any help is most welcome. I have bought this pc configuration for solidworks.

It was during the pandemic and there was a large scarcity of computer parts So I found these parts based on my budget.

I am not happy at all with the performance. It interferes with my job so badly. Could you please 🥺 help me with some suggestions. Should I overclock the CPU? Should I add some other part. Thanks.

Edit : I work mostly with sheet metal. Sketch edit and dimensioning is one of the most laggy operations. Solidworks 2020 sp05

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X temps?

I just installed it. Work load so far is updating things such as Razer, iCue, GeForce Experience and things like that. It is at 60c... just wondering if this is okay? And what I should expect and what is ideal. I just upgraded from Ryzen 7 2700 so I’m expecting more heat obviously but that seems a little high. Also it is naturally running at 4.5ghz out of box. No bios changes besides ram because I can finally run 3200mhz

PC PARTS:

CPU: Ryzen 9 5900X

GPU: 3070Ti Gigabyte GeForce RTX

PSU: 1000W

RAM: 32 GB 3200mhz Patriot

COOLER: H150i Pro XT

MOBO: B450-F Gaming ASUS ROG

Edit: Fixed the problem. Removed iCue and things like that. I do believe I would still run fine with those programs but saving some power is always good. I just was boosting 4.9ghz constantly in the bios. Fixed a couple things and now I’m all good. Around 40c idle with 4.3ghz. Just a noob at first.

I just bought a 5900X and a new mobo to support it. Compatibility wise, everything checks out on PCPARTPICKER, but I’m questioning whether or not my (slightly) dated CPU cooler is sufficient for a non-overclocked 5900X. Can happily give more details if needed!

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X but what´s next?

Good day everyone

To make this clear I´m not looking to mine for profits I want to support the network because I belive Monero has huge potential.

I´m not that much of a tech guy I build my PC´s based on a step by step guide to save some money but that´s about it I barely have any hardware knowledge.

So I´m planning to buy a Ryzen 9 5900X for Mining Monero but what Mainboard, Ram and Powersupply is the most cost efficient to get for Monero Mining?

Thanks for every recomendation have a very nice day :D

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X mce Hardware Error

Hi,

I have recently purchased an AMD Ryzen 9 5900X to replace my 5800X. The old 5800X was working fine. With the new CPU I experienced WHEA errors and BSODs in Windows 10 and so I RMAed it and the new one seems to work fine.

I like optimizing my computer before using it so I tinkered with PBO settings and curve optimizer and tested the system to be prime95 stable (per core and multicore test) in Windows 10. The computer worked fine in Windows 10 but I was only using Windows for stress testing. My main OS is Arch Linux and I am on linux-5.11.13-arch1-1. I pined the kernel version because of an Nvidia driver issue. This happened before I swapped the CPU. Everything was working fine in Windows 10 but then when I switched to Linux, I got random reboots. journalctl -b | grep Hardware gives two different kinds of hardware errors.

This is the kind of error that I get after the system randomly reboots, I think. I can't remember exactly.

I reset the curve optimizer and it seems to fix the random reboots but then I still get these.

Typically the problematic CPUs are 0, 12. (It also happened on CPU:16 but it seems fixed when I reset the curve optimizer)

which suggests that CPU 0 and 12 are the virtual processors of the same core.

I don't think there's issue with my other hardware because they were working fine with my old 5800X. However, I did recently updated the motherboard BIOS so that might be an issue. I don't know how to trigger these error. I ran stress tests and can't reproduce them. They seemed to appear from nowhere even when my computer is idling. I tend not to RMA my CPU because I have already done it once. I will do that unless that's absolutely necessary.

Here are my hardware specs

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X

  • Motherboard: Gigabyte B550I AORUS PRO AX (BIOS F13i with AGESA 1.2.0.2)

  • Ram: Corsair VENGEANCE LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16 Memory Kit

  • Storage: Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 1TB

  • GPU: Gigabyte RTX 3070 Eagle OC

I read online and some suggested memory issues. I have now reduced the FCLK in my BIOS and will observe if the problem persists.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you very much.

Edit 1 [2021-06-06]: Got the same Hardware corrected errors with FCLK decreased to 1567. These happened at random intervals at idle. Will try downgrading the BIOS to F13g.

Edit 2 [2021-06-06]: Switched to F13g, with PBO auto and D.O.C.P. on, still received corrected errors. Will try disabling D.O.C.P.

Edit 3 [2021-06-07]: With D.O.C.P. disabled, I haven't seen any hardware error in 13+ Hours usage. This suggests to RAM issues, possibly unstable RAM overclock. I then re-enabled D.O.C.P. and ramp up the DRAM voltage to 1.37 V (BIOS shows cha A/B volts 1.452 for some reason). Running the computer for 12+ hours. No issues so far. Will try to re-enable curve optimizer.

Edit 4 [2021-06-07]: Re-entered the previous curve optimizer prime95 stable negative offsets. Got corrected errors very quickly after boot. Will try lowering the offsets.

Edit 5 [2021-06-07]: Curve optimizer all core -10 and -5 resulted in hardware errors. Will disable curve optimizer once again and keep monitoring.

Edit 6 [2021-06-08]: With curve optimizer disabled, an hardware corrected error occured even with DRAM voltage set to 1.37 V. I honestly ran out of idea. My baseline is to have PBO and D.C.O.P enabled. I will try lowering ram frequency to see if there are any improvements.

Edit 7 [2021-06-09]: With the curve optimizer disabled and with lowered Ram frequency, hardware error still persists. I ended up dialing +5 all core in curve optimizer and re-enabled the stock D.O.C.P. It seems to have worked and I haven't seen an error with 1day+ uptime. I will occasionally monitor the journal log but if I don't update this post anymore, consider this as a solution. Thank you.
