RX 6750 XT / 5800X3D

Building my daughter a rig and decided on a 5800X3D with a 6750 XT. Does anyone out there have this setup? Was trying to stay around $1200, which kind of limited my options especially when needing a monitor and Windows license. She plays Minecraft, Wizard 101, Sims, etc. I’m hoping this setup will be sufficient for 1440 gaming. I picked up all the parts yesterday, figured I’d ask the question before I started building it. Thanks for the feedback.

Stuttering Issues with RX 6750 XT

Hello all,

I recently purchased and installed a Gigabyte Radeon RX 6750 XT in my PC. I upgraded from a EVGA RTX 3050 and have had anywhere from minor stuttering to major stuttering in most games since the upgrade.

I have had my PC for around a year now, with pretty much no complaints, no major technical issues and ran most of the games I like around Med-High settings at 1440p in the 70-100 fps range depending on the game.

A few weeks ago when I got my 6750 XT in the mail, I installed the card and Adrenalin software, enabled SAM in BIOS settings and really loved the jump in graphical fidelity. The games look great, run at high frame-rates but sadly I have been unable to resolve the stuttering I have experienced and I'm a bit at my wits end.

I will include some of the games I've tested, the degree at which they stutter and troubleshooting I have tried throughout this process.

My full build:

  • CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 (stock cooler)

  • RAM: 16GB G.Skill Trident 3600 mhz (set to 3200 mhz)

  • Motherboard: MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus

  • GPU: Gigabyte OC Radeon TX 6750 XT

  • SSD: Samsung 980 NVME M.2

  • PSU: Corsair RM 650x (80 Plus Gold Rating)

  • OS: Win 11

List of Games I have tried and their level of stuttering (minor meaning playable but noticeable, major meaning unplayable due to stutter):

  • Red Dead Redemption 2: Minor

  • Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War: Major

  • Elden Ring: Minor to Medium

  • Doom Eternal: None

  • GTAV: None

  • Portal: Medium

  • Destiny 2: Major

  • Resident Evil 7: None

  • Cyberpunk 2077: Major

  • Minecraft Java: Major

  • Diablo 2: Resurrected: Minor

Now, I'll get into some of the troubleshooting I've tried to resolve this stuttering:

  • Changing graphical settings (some cases improved stuttering, but did not remove it entirely, case-by-case on whether it helped or not)

  • Updated Bios

  • Updated Chipset

  • Reinstalled every game after GPU swap

  • Plugged PC directly into wall

  • Reduced number of monitors used (no change)

  • Reinstalled Adrenalin software

  • Re-seated every component and power supply cable

  • Uninstalled Nvidia Programs/Drivers

  • Turned off Game-Bar

  • Fiddled with a combination of settings in Adrenalin software

  • Set FPS cap (Only game this worked for was RDR2 but stutter was minor to begin with)

  • Changed Power plan

  • Turned SAM on and off

  • Turned SAM off*

  • Turned on PBO*

  • Turned on XMP*

  • Ran DDU and reinstalled AMD Adrenalin*

  • Installed another 8(6+2) pin power for GPU*

  • Undervolted GPU in Radeon settings*

That is pretty much everything I can think of for right now, if anyone has any suggestions please let me know I would greatly appreciate it.

Edit: Thank you to everyone that has commented, I greatly appreciate the help! So far your suggestions have resolved most of the troubles I was having, gonna do some more testing but for now setting this post as solved!

Edit 2: I have opened the post back to troubleshooting. While some suggestions have already made some clear improvements with the stuttering, it still exists in some form. I will be working on getting BIOS settings, a video of the stuttering and a benchmark uploaded and attached to this post. Thank you all for your help so far and for your continued patience:)

My Experience With The RX 6750 XT, Updated.

I'd like to once again document my experience with the RX 6750 XT.

It's been great. I have been gaming at 4k 60hz perfectly fine. Recent driver updates fixed most of the hardware acceleration issues in browsers.

I would like to point out that YouTube benchmarks are good at comparing different GPUs but not good at representing a realistic gaming experience. They use maxed out settings (Ultra presets etc), and no upscaling. This is why the RX 6750 XT might appear to not quite be capable at 4k, but it is.

I have recently been playing Hogwarts Legacy at 4k High settings, Ultra textures (thanks to 12GB of vram) and FSR Quality. It looks majestic. I get 60 FPS with some drops in heavy areas but it doesn't matter. (I play on an older patch for reasons I can't discuss in this subreddit if you get what I mean). THIS is what represents a realistic gaming experience. Ultra Settings are dumb, and not using a little upscaling at 4k is also dumb, since upscalers like FSR do better the higher the resolutions.

Ray Tracing isn't perfect, but Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition managed it just fine with the FSR mod.

Recording footage is great using the Radeon Software (which I might mention is a lot better than the outdated garbage Nvidia offers).

I do still experience some bugs (such as Radeon Software closing unexpectedly), but I used to have the exact same issue with Nvidia's software.

Edit: I forgot to mention i undervolted and tuned the graphics card and it only uses 160W while gaming.

Bonus Points: AMD link is cool, Drivers are only ~600 MB in size compared to Nvidia's larger driver packages. This means they are lightweight, help in CPU bottlenecked scenarios, and also, for someone like me with 25Mbps download speeds, are faster to download.

Conclusion: The RX 6750 XT is a great GPU if you can find it at a good price, and can do 4k as long as you play with sensible settings and not Maxed Out settings that have no visual difference and are only good for benchmarks. Driver Updates always fix issues and bring better performance (this is what is known as AMD fine wine).

RX 6750 XT or RTX 4070

Hi, I am in the market for a new PC and am choosing my GPU right now. I have a 1440p 144hz monitor.

In my country I have the fallowing prices:

RX 6750 XT - 485$, RTX 3060 ti - 500$, RTX 4070 - 775$, RX 6800 XT - 730$, RX 7900 XT / RTX 4070 TI- 1050$

RX 6900 XT and RX 6950 XT are out of stock, or over 900$.

I have a Ryzen 5 7600X CPU, 650W PSU and an AM5 MB with DDR5 in my build. I mainly wish to keep this PC for around 6-8 years, maybe more and play at 1440p ultra for now, and later make use of either FSR or DLSS and perhaps frame generation regardless if via DLSS 3 or FSR 3 to play on high I guess. Games that I wish to play are mainly RDR 2, Witcher 3, God of War, Control, Cyberpunk, FF XIV, FF XVI, Plague Tale. This is probably the most expensive PC I've ever built so I would want to be able to play at least for now with RT on wherever possible.

Any idea which GPU to pick?
