What's Aged the Best: The chest busting scene. The slow tension building through the movie. The ensemble piece.
What's aged the worst: Nothing of this movie strikes me as aging badly.
Dion Waiters: Hard category because this is an ensemble piece. Maybe we can just go with John Hurt for being in the most memorable scene of the movie.
Apex Mountain: John Hurt-No(The Elephant Man). Sigourney Weaver-No, but the whole Alien series is her Apex Mountain. Yaphet Kotto-It's got to be Live and Let Die. Ian Holm-Chariots of Fire. Harry Dean Stanton-Paris Texas. Tom Skeritt? Veronica Cartwright? Ridley's Apex is Gladiator.
Joey Pants: Helen Horton as the voice of Mother. She is the grandmother of Lily James.
Recasting couch: Nobody should be touched. This is a perfect cast of unknowns and fabulous character actors.
Who won the Movie: This is Ridley Scott crowning achievement, even if this is the definitive role of Sigourney Weaver career.

We lost John Hurt, Harry Dean Stanton, Ian Holm, and now Yaphet Kotto. In the movie it was Kane, Brett, Dallas, Ash and Parker. However in a cut scene Dallas was cocooned but still alive. He doesn't die until second from last when Ripley mercy kills him with the flamethrower. Almost like a final destination style pattern only with classic actors instead of doomed teenagers. Just a creepy observation about one of the best horror and science fiction movies of all time.

Basically perfect movies in their genre, but which one would you choose as the better movie if you had to pick one?
Personally I think Alien slightly edges out The Thing. The claustrophobic, atmospheric location of the Nostromo, the sense of isolation, you can pretty much feel the grime when you watch it. And while The Thing has some awesome creature designs, the Xenomorph stands in a league above the rest. It's iconic in its design.
