A gaming sub free from the news, hype and drama that surround current releases, catering instead to gamers who wait at least 12 months after release to play a game. Whether it's price, waiting for bugs/issues to be patched, DLC to be released, don't meet the system requirements, or just haven't had the time to keep up with the latest releases.

Alien: Isolation is too damn scary.

I'm a little bit of a baby when it comes to horror, and as I sit here writing this post with aliens on in the background, Alien: Isolation is too scary.

I have done about two missions with the xenomorph, and even thinking about doing another one sends a chill down my spine. This is my first horror game ever, and I have it on easy, and I have yet to die, but oh my god this game succeeds at being scary.

The tension is just insane. It feels like a panic attack (in my experience). You're sweaty, focusing super hard and on edge all the time. It's a fantastic game. But Jesus, it's too scary.

I've tried thinking of it as a game, like oh yeah they'd put a jumpscare there, but it doesn't work with Isolation. The alien is an AI and unpredictable. And I just want to be left alone!

it's enjoyable, I guess. great game. but I can't bring myself to play it. did I mention it's too scary?

Anyone have any tips to not make me such a baby?

Just finished Alien: Isolation

Holy shit, what a game! What an ending! A true love letter to the fans of the series, and I love how it adds to the lore of the series in a big way. Amanda Ripley went from being a deleted character from the series, to a full fledged character in her own right. I really loved her character, and I really can’t wait to see her story continued in the comic.

The Alien AI is brilliant, and really does a great job showcasing how intelligent the Xenomorphs are. Even though it could be really annoying trying to navigate and avoid it at times(looking at you, Medical Ward).

Working Joes were a pain in the ass. Honestly worse than the alien itself. Those ones in the hazmat suits were awful. Thank God for that bolt gun. Human enemies were more manageable, thanks to the Xenomorph killing them for me.

Fuck the facehuggers in general. Literally had to reload an earlier save to conserve my flamethrower fuel after trying to kill it by melee and other means failed.

Overall, a really amazing game with great level design, a scary atmosphere, and brilliant AI. 8/10

Side note: Is it weird that of all the ways the Alien killed me(I got the “100 Times Too Many” trophy), I never once died inside the vents?
