Alice In Borderland Season 2 Ending Explained!! MAJOR SPOILERS
false

So I've just finished Season 2 in one sitting but some of my questions are still unanswered:

- It's still not clear who made the games?? Or why??

- Does the Joker card at the end hint that they are all still in a game, and they're being decieved?

Overall, it was a 7/10 compared to Season 1. It seems a bit rushed

[DISCUSSION] Alice in Borderland Season 2

Currently on ep 3 but, FINALLY!!! I love that they're showing us more background about the players, and hopefully more about the "world" they're playing in while still maintaining the action and suspense of the series.

EDIT 1: So basically everyone this season is like "is this how you wanna live?" or "What is your purpose for living?" They're full of existential angst fr!!

EDIT 2: ok FINAL THOUGHTS... I just finished it, and what the fuck was that final 2 episodes 😭 It was a lot to take in. BUT THAT ENDING THOUGH!!! Might leave a room for another season? Hehe

So disappointed with Alice in borderland season 2

Ridiculously bad dialogue that dragged the show on; characters that are dead (but not dead) and alive again; a main male lead that only has one pained expression through his upturned lips; extremely slow and long shots on weird stuff that added to the minutes; un-satisfactory explanation for almost everything...I could go on and on but, my gosh, please let there not be a season 3!

[Discussion] Any idea when Netflix is going to release anime blood of zeus season 2,Squid game S2,All of us are dead S2, hellbound S2, and what about Alice in borderland S3(will it release) any idea?

Spoilers ahead for near the end: So it left of where the jack, queen and kings and not uncovered and from the trailers they look like not that deadly of like games as it shows a dodgeball looking game which could be a survive this long or only x amount can survive which doesn’t look that deadly for now as there could be a lot more to uncover there’s also a bit where it says “if we eliminate all the card members we could be able to leave” which could make it look like the last game which I don’t think it is as it doesn’t look like a king of hearts which is probably the last game for the suspense.

Right if you’ve read this far hi and how excited are you for S2.

theory of alice in borderland season 2 ending.

I am open to any interpretations on this - it is purely for fun.

As we all know, the season ends with the joker card being shown on the table with all the other cards blown away. Many have speculated that this can mean the end of the games, and hence show. Others have said they were happy with the ending until this card, as it can symbolise it was all a joke. This is my take:

The joker card can have 3 possible meanings. 1) The wild card (anyone can do what they want, open to interpretations) 2) A new beginning (life/reality can be the last game) 3) The card to avoid.

Now let’s talk about the last meaning. The third meaning is derived from the Old Maid game. The Old Maid game is a CHILDREN’S GAME. This is important, because it is referenced many times in AIB that these games are children’s games, e.g: tag, hide and seek, etc. In the Old Maid game, a solitary Joker represents the Old Maid, which is the card to be avoided. Notice how I said “solitary” - in a usual card deck, there are 2 jokers. But in this game, there’s one, which matches the single card in the episode.

A significant rule of this game is that whoever ends up with the Joker card, dies.

There’s an alternative version of the Old Maid, called Chase the Joker. This is where the Joker replaces the Ace. My theory was this: Mira, the Queen of Hearts, is also an Ace. In a card deck, there are Aces, however in the show, it stopped at Queen of Hearts. That led me to think that the people behind this game, could be Aces. But we have no proof of that. However the reason why I thought Mira was the Ace, was because of the camera. I think the camera was watching Mira and Arisu’s game, to see if Mira would defeat Arisu and become the Joker, which can be seen as the ‘top’.

If Mira kills Arisu, she would be proven too powerful to the higher ups. This means we can assume she would advance to the Joker role, which would ultimately kill her.

However Arisu defeats her, which surprises the higher ups, who then send him back to the real world, to “retry” the games again, but this time as the Joker. I put Retry in quotation marks as this is the name of the sequel. Because Arisu defeated the supposed final boss, he is extremely powerful, and therefore becomes the Joker as they need a player who will be the king/queen of the final game. I say player because all of the other ones have been players too. If Arisu becomes Joker, and wins the game against the other participants, he will die.

I also think Mira’s VR theory is partially true, which can explain why the meteorite happened - as a way to cover up that deaths actually happened in the game and not in their version of “real life”, which isn’t actually real - but is the joker game.

So I just finished binge watching season 2 and the title in this post is exactly how I felt. Overall I enjoyed season 2 but season 1 as a whole is still better. Note that I'm not a manga reader so everything in this post is based on the Netflix series.

  1. A lot of the actions and decisions that the characters makes no sense.

  2. Chishiya has more plot armor than our male mc. Surviving the prison game(Jack of hearts) and the balance scale game(King of diamonds) through luck.

3.The group fight with Kings of Spade is so dumb in so many ways. There're a plenty of chances to kill the King of Spade but they have to fight in such a dramatic way and drag it till the end. Like the dudes head is right there can't you just fking shoot it, why are you shooting his bullet vest. The bow girl, why do you have to close up to him and then shoot your arrow when you can shoot him in a range. The last part where they lure the King of Spade into the shop, there's a chance that Agni can shoot him from behind but no, he's just gonna save the bullet and sacrifice himself to blow up with the guy. And finally the dramatic finish, using his saved bullet to shoot the explosive smh.

4. The red and blue game(Queen of clubs) is very flawed game. The players can just overthrow the Queen easily by just joining the other team and win.

5. Oh boy the last episode, somehow the Queen of hearts have memories manipulation power to trap the mc and fmc wtf is going on. I get that she trying to make them give up but still.

Somehow, the ending is perfectly fine for me. I guessing that the choice given to the surviving players when they complete the game is about choosing to wake up in the real world.

Tldr: Plenty of overdramatic and unnecessary actions. Season 1 have better games. Few unanswered questions. To prolonged the last fight with Kings of Spade and to make it more dramatic, a lot of actions that doesn't make sense is added.

Just Finished Alice in Borderland S1+S2!!!

I’m sad to see it end and I have been searching for projects similar to it. I know others like me are interested in more content or content similar to it as well so I am going to list it here so everyone has something to refer back to!

Alice in Borderland adjacent Projects:

  1. Alice on Border Road (spin off w/ complete new set of characters and multiple games)

  2. Alice in Borderland Retry (direct spin off to Alice in Borderland and involves only one game)

Similar Projects

  1. Squid Games: Is better than Squid Games but S.Gs is similar to it.

  2. Kakeguri (Compulsive Gambler): similar but Kakeguri is still ongoing and there isn’t as much action or death, but has games involved as well.

  3. Tomadatchi Game: kind of similar but tomadatchi games seem more elaborate

  4. Danganronpa Series (Both video games and Tv): similar due to horror, and Murder solving but doesn’t have games for characters to solve

  5. Battle Royale: included bc of it’s similarities to THG

  6. The Hunger Games: not anime related at all or created in any Asian country but similar.

Update!!!!

I have read both Alice on Border Road and Alice in Borderland Retry. If you are looking to watch them play more games Alice in Borderland Retry is the way to go.

My Reviews:

  1. Alice on Border Road (spin off w/ complete new set of characters)- someone said there was multiple games in this and they lied. Read this if you want more elaboration on the borderlands and how they work. The cards are utilized but this is more lore than games.

  2. Alice in Borderland Retry (direct spin off to Alice in Borderland and involves only one game)- whoever recommended this to me correctly reviewed it. You get to see arisu and usagi again and the game involved is just as high stakes as the ones in the show. However this spin off is too short to make into a season on Netflix.
