Alejandro Bedoya - One-year contract

Sources: The Philadelphia Union and Alejandro Bedoya have come to an agreement on a new one-year contract. After seven years, 247 appearances, and 27 goals, Alejandro Bedoya will return to the Union for the 2024 season and continue to build his legacy.

He will join the first team for the second phase of the preseason.

Alejandro joined the Union from Nantes in 2016, where he made 96 appearances and scored 14 goals.

Bedoya, 36, was a key part of the rejuvenation of the Philadelphia Union and helped the Union on a run that saw the team achieve its first playoff victory, Supporters Shield, Eastern Conference Final victory, and first-ever MLS Cup Final.

Internationally, Bedoya appeared 66 times for the United States while scoring two goals. He was part of the 2014 World Cup Squad, where he featured in all four of the nation's matches.

Outside of the field, Alejandro is also well known for being an advocate for the Latino population in Philadelphia, as well as a key figure in the bid to bring the 2026 World Cup to Philadelphia.

Additionally, his moment in 2019 will forever be remembered when he asked Congress to act on gun violence after the two mass shootings in Texas and Ohio that year.

Welcome back, Alejandro!

An amazing thing just happened in the DC United vs Philadelphia Union game. The Union's Alejandro Bedoya scored in the 3rd minute, ran to the corner where the on-field mic is located, and screamed, "END GUN VIOLENCE NOW!"
