I can’t think of a non regular voice over artist who was imo better than Albert brooks and I include Jon lovitz.

For those who are into PDD, Lonely Island, cartoons by Robert Smigel, or just really good absurd comedy, I highly recommend the new Albert Brooks documentary. Brooks was instrumental in the early years of the show, and was supposedly asked to be a permanent host, but turned it down. Lorne then suggested a different guest host every week which is where we are nearly 50 years later. His pre-recorded films were a part of SNL from episode 1. He isn't mentioned much with the original not ready for primetime players, but any comedy fans should definitely check this out.

Great acting! I’ve never seen him as a villain before so I was caught off guard. But wow, I was actually disturbed by his performance. The way he can kill without a second thought or remorse over money is portrayed perfectly. I just recently watched it again after years and forgot how much i enjoyed the movie.
The Albert Brooks documentary on HBO was quite good. Featured Chris Rock, Larry David, Sarah Silverman, Jon Stewart, Apatow and many others talking about how Albert inspired them.
I’m a long time fan on HSS and my memory is that Howard mocked Albert’s movies in the 90s though he might have had him on once.

ICYMI, Larry appears in Rob Reiner's new documentary about Albert Brooks. If you have seen it, did you think Larry looked a little haggard. Larry pretty much hasn't aged in the last 25 years, but I think his age is finally starting to catch up with him.
What do you think?
Why aren't the films directed by Albert Brooks more known? What I mean is I think Albert Brooks is one great American filmmaker whose work is appears to be completely fargotten to the general public. And I truly believe his films are very original and funny and provicative, great satires but no one, even in film buffs groups and circles, talks about them. Defending my Life is hilarious and a very creative aproach to the after life scenario. Lost in America is a brilliant take on the drop out of society/Easy Rider gone wrong. And Mother and Modern Romance fantastic films too or even The Muse, a very original take on writers block, almost mocking the things that artists are willing to do in order to get new ideas, a film that has a rating of 5.7 on imdb (what?!).
Do you agree with this or is it just me?
TL;DR : I think Albert Brooks' films deserve more appreciation.
Rob Reiner directed a documentary about Albert Brooks that will premiere on HBO in November.
As everyone that frequents this sub knows, Albert Brooks has been a white whale for Marc.
Its entirely possible that Brooks or Reiner will be doing some promo for this doc and one of them very well may end up on WTF. One can only hope that Brooks decides to take Marc up on his offer.

It's such a good documentary. I love Albert Brooks. That said, it was interesting they brought up Harry Shearer (who I also love) as an early writing partner on some movies. They skidded right over that and spoke about the other lady writer. Barely a mention of his brother Bob Einstein. Also, love him. Do you think he doesn't want to go down any negative path? Very worth watching. It reminded me how funny his comic routines were.
