This subreddit focuses on the futurist visions of eras past. However posts may also contain contemporary art with a retrofuturist theme. Futurism was born out of humanity's sudden thrust into technological revolution. To the many that witnessed the dramatic, rapid change, it seemed a technological utopia was fast approaching. This unbridled optimism caused the collective imagination to run wild.

Alan Parsons Project

I know this isn't about Floyd, but it will still probably be something many in this sub will care about since the fandoms seem to overlap heavily...

Alan Parsons Project just released an instrumental compilation today of their instrumental music from their albums...

It is what one would expect it to be 😁

Alan Parsons

Ever since I started listening to Pink Floyd, I have always been hunting for similar music. But nothing ever compared… until now? I am aware Alan Parsons engineered DSOTM, yet I never realized how similar his work was to the band itself. It’s no Pink Floyd, but is The Alan Parsons Project the next closest thing?

Now, Grand Funk Railroad paved the way for Jefferson Airplane, which cleared the way for Jefferson Starship. The stage was now set for the Alan Parsons Project, which I believe was some sort of hovercraft.

Is there a connection between Pink Floyd and Alan Parsons?

Alan Parsons has a song called "Mammagamma" on his album "Eye in the Sky", which heavily features a women's choir, quite similar to Atom Heart Mother.

Is it an hommage to Umagamma? Anyone know?

IMO, without Alan Parsons DSOTM would not be the iconic Masterwork it is. I would love to hear what fellow members think.

  • Snoo thought he heard a subliminal message on the latest cassette he was playing. He eagerly unscrewed the screws on each corner of the tape. It didn't take long to put the reels on backwards. When he finished it wasn't much of a surprise it was telling him to share pictures of his cassette tapes, cassette players, analog equipment on Reddit. It also wanted him to promote tape labels, make tape compilations, and share the love of the format. The tape self destructs. Snoo eats the magnetic tape! members
