Al Jazeera English biased?

I always has an impression that Al Jazeera English is a news channel that offers neutral and no nonsense news.

But their coverage of the Israel-Hamas war changed my opinion about their reporting. It is normal to cover pain and suffering in media because violence sells newspapers and gets online views. But it only discusses the rongs of Israel and not the wrong doings of Hamas. Well they show the October 7 attack but that's all it is, an attack.

Al Jazeera English criticizes Israel all the time but never Hamas. I hope I am wrong and just missed those moments. Bit as of current, they reel of biased reporting.

Your thoughts?

Is Al Jazeera English reputable?

The other day, the Israeli Defense Forces claimed it killed four Hamas fighters in a gunfight. Oops. Al Jazeera's investigative unit was able to use satellite imagery showing the men were unarmed and executed in cold blood after being ordered to sit on the ground. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDb2-UuinaI&ab_channel=AlJazeeraEnglish

Do professional journos consider Al Jazeera English a credible source on this?

My name is Sami Zeidan and I host a program called Essential Middle East on Al Jazeera English. Earlier this month my organization was rocked by the death of Shireen Abu Akleh, a long time journalist who covered Palestine. I'm here in the West Bank with a few of my colleagues reporting on the tragedy that took our colleague. We are determined to keep a spotlight on the story.

Edit: It's getting late in Israel and time for me to sign off. Thanks everyone for the great questions, and apologies to anyone I didn't get to answer.

I’m Maziar Motamedi and I cover Iran for the Al Jazeera English digital team from Tehran, where I’m for now mostly confined to my computer at home since the country continues to battle the deadliest COVID-19 pandemic of the Middle East.

From its 2015 nuclear deal with world powers to its friendships and rivalries across the region and its internal politics, Iran produces a non-stop stream of news that could at times make even a journalist feel like it’s too much to follow.

Most recently, I’ve been covering the lead-up to the June 18 presidential election, which could be unprecedented in its lack of competitiveness and low voter turnout. Ongoing efforts in Vienna to restore the nuclear deal (the JCPOA) have also been in the spotlight for months, and many have eyes on direct talks with regional rival Saudi Arabia that are hoped to resolve some differences. https://www.aljazeera.com/author/maziar_motamedi_190127060358086

But there is much more to talk about: how United States sanctions have impacted every aspect of life in Iran, how rampant inflation is making people poorer by the day, and how everyone seems to have become a cryptocurrency trader overnight, just to name a few.

UPDATE: It's almost midnight here and I'm going to get some rest. Thank you for your questions, I hope my answers helped. I'll try to check back one more time tomorrow to answer any remaining questions. Please note that I'm here as the Iran correspondent for AJE, and so I answered questions that were related to my position as a journalist.

Hi! I've recently discovered IAmA. This is great. I guess I've had an interesting enough ride over the last few years to justify putting myself out there.

Here's my story in brief: I host a show called Fault Lines: www.youtube.com/joshrushing. I helped launch Al Jazeera English. I was a Marine for 14 years. I wrote the book Mission Al Jazeera. I've been in GQ, on the Daily Show and featured in tons of other press: www.joshrushing.com. I was featured in the documentary film Control Room. I've been all over the world. And I look forward to your questions!

Hey Reddit, I'm Chris Arsenault, a journalist for Al Jazeera English reporting on the current turmoil in Venezuela. AMA!

Hey Reddit! I'm Chris Arsenault, a journalist for Al Jazeera English currently reporting from Caracas, Venezuela.

With the world's largest proven oil reserves, there are billions of dollars at stake in Venezuela's ongoing turmoil. Supporters of Nicolas Maduro's government say their lives have improved since the socialists won their first election in 1998 - but opponents of the government have been demonstrating since February over violent crime, massive inflation, corruption and what they consider to be government repression.

You can check out my articles on Venezuela here.

I cover events in Latin America for Al Jazeera English online, and my work on Venezuela was recently nominated for two One World media awards. Before that, I worked at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and a series of newspapers.

I'll be on at 10AM EST to answer your questions about the situation in Venezuela - or about anything else you might want to ask.

Here's proof.
