Fresh off the conclusion of Amazon’s long-running sci-fi series The Expanse, actor Wes Chatham is heading back to space as the latest addition to Disney+’s live-action Ahsoka series.

Chatham (The Expanse, Hunger Games, Tenet) will play the right-hand man to Lars Mikkelsen’s Admiral Thrawn in the series, multiple sources have told Deadline.

Has Disney forgotten that the Ahsoka show is a TV-14 series primarily for adults? Why is the action and violence so neutered?

This has been a growing annoyance for all of the Disney+ Star Wars shows, but it feels like I'm watching a young children's show when the creators just refuse to depict violence and action like a TV-14 show would allow. The lightsaber fights and general action in Ahsoka is so limp and unthreatening, even when compared to actual child-centric Star Wars TV shows of the past. The lack of meaningful action hurts the overall stakes and tension of the show.

Lightsabers aren't allowed to slice off limbs or heads, even when it would be a sensible solution for zombie stormtroopers. So many fight scenes involve punching or kicking despite both assailants being armed. Lightsaber hits are indirect glancing blows with a puff of sparks, somehow resulting in a dead trooper.

The target audience for the Ahsoka show is certainly the generation that grew up with the Prequels and Clone Wars (and maybe Rebels), I'd estimate 18 to 30 years old. The Ahsoka show is certainly not targeted at Timmy the 10 year old who thinks Mr Vader is cool. So why is the violence and action so neutered and bland?

The Clone Wars TV show was aimed at a younger audience, and it had significantly more impactful violence and action in certain scenes. Remember when Ahsoka beheaded 4 Mandalorians in one attack? Remember how Ep 1 and 2 of the Prequels are rated only PG, but feature several dismemberments? Even season 1 of the Mandalorian featured baddies getting cut in half in closing doors. Where did Star War's grit go?

All of this action and violence becomes boring white noise when it's so nonthreatening. It doesn't raise the tension for our heroes when they can survive a full Lightsaber impaling, and it doesn't give the audience a thrilling power fantasy to see the villains getting what they deserve. It's just so boring.

Now with Ahsoka finished, where do you rate it among the Disney+ live action shows? ***potential spoilers in here***

For those who finished Ahsoka, where do you rate it among the live action shows?

I love the show so much but I really can’t decide where to rate the show. I feel like it’s so unique and different than most other shows that I don’t really see a general consensus on this show (like Andor being amazing and Boba Fett being meh).

I still rate them all 10/10 though, because I’m that fan but I do have them listed in an order what I think is the better/preferred/enjoyable show.

Ahsoka has been awesome thus far. That being said, with all we've seen so far and all that's left to resolve in a single episode, I sort of hope that Ahsoka is going to leave me feeling like I did at the end of the Empire Strikes Back : a bittersweet ending.

It seems more and more obvious that Thrawn is going to succeed going back to the main galaxy. Now I think it would be awesome if he could do so and also get a massive victory over Ahsoka and the gang, leaving them desperate but with a touch of hope by the end of last episode.

I think it would make Thrawn even bigger a threat, and would set things up just right for what is to come.
