I wanted to share some good news. A week or two ago the Diocese of Agrigento in Sicily digitized what appears to be the records for all of the churches under their domain. That brings the total count in Italy up to three I believe (Reggio Calabria-Bova, Bolzano Bressanone, and Agrigento). If anyone knows of any other dioceses that are fully digitized or of any digitization projects that are in progress, feel free to mention them!

Stage Breakdown
On this last day of the week we take on the south part of the island, starting from alcamo, not too far from Palermo where we left off. The start of the stage is pretty bumpy, perfect to set up a breakaway, in those first few hills we also have the first KOM of the day at km 37.5. After those bumpy first 50 kms we have a long flat part until the last few kms and the final climb. But before that final climb we do have a bit of a bumpy terrain once again, for 20 kms or so.
The interesting part is the last few kms and the climb towards Agrigento.
Now for the gramps of this subreddit, you may remember Agrigento as the location of the 1994 World Championships (I'm not even sure was watching cycling then, so that tells you how long ago it was), so you know Agrigento is on a hill. So to get there, you have to climb. However we are not using the worlds circuit here (which was also used on the last visit of the Giro in town, when Il Cobra won the stage) but rather a climb coming from the seaside. It's a "hard" one at 3.7 kms at 5.3%.
With that in mind here are our predictions:
★★★ Matthews, Ulissi
★★ Thomas, Yates, Fuglsang
★ Battaglin, Sagan, Clarke, Guerreiro, Visconti, Bilbao
Stage and rider discussion
It's a pretty open one. First off, no breakaway win, not happening. We have two obvious favs, Ulissi as THE Giro Puncheur of the last decade and Matthews who is the sprinter who can take climbs like that. The opening TT may shake things up tho. A lot of guys lost a lot of time for the GC, so maybe, instead of playing it conservative, we may see one of them try to move aggressively, but it's still very unlikely and the climbs seems to suit Yates with his puncheur profile and Thomas who is able to power through those regular climbs. In the one star category we have a bunch of rider who can always take a surprise win, puncher profiles, including veterans Visconti and Battaglin, which you can never count out in a Giro stage like that.
That's it for us, what are your opinions and predictions?
