Why Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is not cannon.

It sucks, but AoS is not a cannon. Why?

From wiki:

"A cannon is a large-caliber gun classified as a type of artillery, and usually launches a projectile using explosive chemical propellant. In the past, black gunpowder was the primary propellant before the invention of smokeless powder during the late 19th century."

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. however, is, according to wiki: "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is an American television series created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen for ABC, based on the Marvel Comics organization S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division), a peacekeeping and spy agency in a world of superheroes. It is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and acknowledges the continuity of the franchise's films and other television series. The series was produced by ABC Studios, Marvel Television, and Mutant Enemy Productions, with Jed Whedon, Tancharoen, and Jeffrey Bell serving as showrunners."

It is unfortunately, not cannon. It's a TV show set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it is not any kind of a cannon. Sorry, fans of cannons.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is soo good, you guys! OMG

At first, I avoided this show like the plague, because there was a detail in its conceptualization that I despised: The entire point of Coulson's death was to motivate The Avengers to stop being petty a-holes; without that death, the movie loses all meaning. When many were speculating that this show was not canon, I actually felt delighted. Well...now I feel like crap! Over the seasons, I stopped giving a crap about the problems with Coulson's resurrection and I actually saw the benefits of it. I find it admirable how the show worked with the changes the MCU constantly brought not only to increase the stakes, but also to explore cool science fiction scenarios with interesting introspections on technology, government surveillance, discrimination, etcetera. The show is actually filled with interesting themes and ideas, resulting in an awesome science fiction experience. This combination of grounded realism, superhero scenarios, and tense atmosphere is unique compared to the rest of the MCU. Just think of this show as the experience of the normal people in an insane comic book universe; Daredevil does not count since that show barely mentions movie events. At the same time, the show keeps all the way through that serious tone that Phase 1 had, avoiding the saddening flanderization the MCU suffered towards the end of Phase 3 (Sorry, not sorry!), making its theme exploration to not seem inappropriate. Finally, the characters are all great. At first they may seem to be bland archetypes, but they get so engaging as the show progresses. Obviously season 1 is the weakest, but the last season introduced a lot of concepts that feel a little out of place with the down to earth approach they had for the wackiest concepts of the comics, which gave the show a unique edge, in my opinion. Still, the ending is satisfying all things considered. If the first season did not hook you, just stick with the show, just like Clone Wars, it gets better.

Now, is it the best MCU show? No; Daredevil, Loki, and Moon Knight are still objectively better in my opinion. Those shows are just more consistent, mostly due to them having less seasons, but hey, fourth place ain't bad at all. However, that is the only valid point of comparison since these shows are so different in their approach and storytelling, which makes it hard to believe that they all technically happen in the same world, but that is the awesome thing about comics, isn't it? At the same time, look at shows like She-Hulk, or Secret Invasion, or Ms. Marvel, or Gotham Knights, or Gotham, or Supergirl, or The Flash; is AoS known to be really bad considering those other shows I just mentioned exist? Heck, just compare it to Legends of Tomorrow, which has a similar dynamic and presentation. Yeah, it is night and day! Anyway, that is my two cents on this topic. Thank you for reading.

Just started Binge-watching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on Disney Plus... And Wow.

I recently started watching this show. Just finished watching the entire show.

I went in with low expectations because this Series wasn't discussed much or isn't talked about much in this sub.

But the series blew my mind. The characters, the storylines, visual effects, and the tie-ins to the MCU were all amazing.

I loved how they touched the various MCU movies all the way till Civil War.

They even made one of the main characters the Villain in one of the seasons.

The introduction to GhostRider in Season 4 was also phenomenal.

I hope Quake (Daisy Johnson) gets to appear in one of the other MCU movies or ties into future MCU storylines. Also possibly a rebooted GhostRider movie.

Why did Marvel decide to ignore AOS? Is there a chance they are incorporating it back into the MCU, or a reboot?

EDIT - After reading all the comments, I agree that it's better that they are not fully intertwined with the MCU. We get to see a parallel universe. Besides, SHIELD saves the world multiple times without the Avengers. So that was good to see how they did it.
