I felt like this movie touched my soul. I’ve had it in my collection for over a year and am kicking myself for not watching it sooner. How does everyone else feel about it.

Wow, really good movie that made me think about what I take for granted. I’d give it a 3.5/5.
Anyone else watch it yet?

Tea! This subreddit is for discussion of beverages made from soaking camellia sinensis leaves (or twigs) in water, and, to a lesser extent, herbal infusions, yerba mate, and other tisanes.
Colin Farrell is a tea purveyor (who refuses to deal in tea crystals, can only assume it’s a new thing because it’s left unexplained) and we only ever see him with broken leaves and stems. Then there’s a gongfu cha moment, but none of the ritual characteristics.
All said tongue firm planted in cheek, but it’s a good movie. It’s also a study in Orientalism, but give it a name.

For fans of the Blank Check Podcast, with Griffin Newman, David Sims, and Ben Hosley. Is Ben "Professor Crispy"? Will Griffin and David ever get the premise of the show down to 30 seconds or under? Let's listen together and find out! #thetwofriends
Curious for any fellow Blankies not based in NY or LA--is After Yang actually in theaters for you? Obviously I am no fool and am aware of the idea of limited releases but the fact that no reviews, advertising, etc. has made any indication of this being a limited release, along with the otherwise completely wide streaming release, just has me fairly baffled, especially the tweets and such that are like "After Yang is here...see it now!!"

I know EEAAO is (deservedly) getting a ton of love here, but don’t sleep on After Yang. Like Kogonada’s previous writer/director effort (Columbus) AY’s direction and visual style lend a subtle, almost hypnotic quality for a result that’s equal parts beautiful and poignant. The slow-burn leads to an emotional gut punch but it comes with an aftertaste of hope/optimism. Can’t recommend it enough.

I just watched it last night, and now I'm in the grips of After Yang fever! Didn't know it was by the same filmmaker that did Columbus, or I would have watched sooner. 10/10!!
A basic income guarantee is a system that regularly provides each citizen with a sum of money. Except for citizenship, a basic income is entirely unconditional. A basic income guarantee would radically simplify the welfare state, and truly ensure that no one has to live in poverty. Its necessity will become increasingly obvious as more human labor is replaced by machines.
