Xennials and the Iraq and Afghanistan wars

The wars on Iraq and Afghanistan occurred throughout our 20s and well into our 30s. I am curious about how you saw the wars then compared to now, and their effect on your lives.

For those of you who protested or even simply opposed the wars: did you remain involved in anti war activism in some way? Or did you give up and focus on other things. If you moved away from activism, have you felt any remorse or sense of self abandonment? Did the views you developed in opposition to the wars inform your choice of career or stamp themselves on your life in some way? Have you become more prowar/pro military as you’ve aged?

For those of you who favored the wars: did you remain in support throughout or did you change at some point. Do you stand by your prowar stance today or regret it? If you could go back, would you still support the invasion? Have you become more pacifistic as you’ve aged?

For those of you who fought in the wars: would you choose to do it again or do you regret it? How has the experience affected your life? What did you think of anti war activists back then? Have you become anti war?

I'm honestly shocked about the last post alconcerning women's education if Afghanistan.

I got down voted for saying that women need to have segregated schools to study. Why don't you guys want your women to at least have elementary education? I'm a woman, I have elementary school finished and I'm considered uneducated in a Muslim community . If I had to do job (due to husband being abusive, father, brother dying, it can happen to anyone and it's been happening), I can work as a cashier, cleaner, not much than this, actually. And you want your daughters to beg on the streets in case something happens to you or her husband abuses her? Because she has 6 grades finished?

Have you not noticed streets in Afghanistan and Pakistan full of begging women with no education

How can you support Taliban not opening girl only schools ? (Free mixing is Haram, I understand, so why aren't they opening women only schools?)

You're mixing up being a traditional Muslim and being a misogynist women hating man.

I'm honestly shocked that I got dowvoted for stating that Taliban is doing wrong by not opening women only schools.

Have you guys noticed that your trumper friends/family now pretend like they never supported bush or the Iraq and Afghanistan wars?

Have you guys noticed that your trumper friends/family now pretend like they never supported bush or the Iraq and Afghanistan wars?

I started to notice this back in 2016 when Trump started clowning on low energy Jeb and humiliating his brother over the Iraq war being a big fat mistake.

But now, it’s like they never ever supported bush and they just get all quiet when I ask about who they supported in the past.

Anyone else running into this?

I am trying to put in a claim ptsd. I have a deployment to Afghanistan but I don’t have a combat infantry badge.

On the operation that is my stressor, everybody had CIB’s from previous deployments except two of us and I feel like my leadership just forgot to put us in for our CIB. Another stressor was the fact that we found over 100 land mines on my deployment and the constant fear of stepping on one of those damn things, which I have no proof of in my military record. I’ve been seeing a therapist who has diagnosed me with ptsd and adjustment disorder with anxiety. Is it possible to still get the claim approved? Should I put a claim in for anxiety instead? Thanks

Modern Iran vs 1991 Afghanistan and Iraq.

Can modern Iran win in a war against two Middle Eastern rivals?

Each country has 1 month to prepare.

Will Iran win with 33 years worth of development or will the 4th largest military at the time and Afghanistan win?

Zan Times has launched an archive documenting violence against public women in Afghanistan

Zan Times has launched an archive intending to hold accountable the perpetrators of violence and murder of women in Afghanistan. With its launch, Zan Times aims to inform and raise awareness about the human rights situation in Afghanistan, specifically the systematic violence against publicly active women in Afghanistan.

This archive, with financial support and open-source mentoring from the Centre for Information Resilience’s Afghan Witness project, is an effort to document the violence, including the arrest, disappearance, and killing of public women in Afghanistan since the Taliban regained power in August 2021. For the last six months, 10 journalists have worked on creating this archive. In doing so, Zan Times has been able to document 49 cases of violence against women. These cases include 34 arrests, one disappearance, and 14 murders of women. The crimes occurred in provinces across Afghanistan. The archive’s website was created by the Center for Advanced Defense Studies (C4ADS).
