Adobe XD

Curious to see how many of you use Figma or Adobe XD, or both. I've been seeing a lot more Figma mentions on job boards, and XD seems to get much less love.

I'm personally an XD guy. Since I have the full CC suite, might as well use it. But should I switch over?

I am learning figma and came across adobeXD I searched online and it said adobexd is losing its relevancy on front of figma

So is it still useful to learn XD deeply!?

I’m a multimedia designer specializing in graphic design, video edit, and motion graphics. I’m just wondering why every almost employer are expecting every designer to know everything (graphics, video, motion graphics, website, ui/ux etc). Handling graphic design & video in my full time job is already a heavy work yet, they are expecting me to study Figma and/or Adobe XD during my free time, not during my shift. I barely have time to upskill yet as I’m fully loaded with my 2 jobs (sadly artist’s salary is low here in my country).

Edit: i’m rephrasing my sentences. Apologies if it seemed negative, but I’m genuinely curious & kinda wanted to rant as well.

Since Adobe acquired Figma, I have not read any update about their plans for Adobe XD. In our firm, we use 100% Adobe XD for all our projects. I am worried that Adobe will soon decommission its Adobe XD. Do you think this will be possible?

Also, until now, I am still not confident about Figma, and I am jealous whenever I see people talking about Figma. Do you think this will be the 'main' tool in the future? Do I really have to learn this tool?

To date, there are no plugins (official) or anything that can help convert Adobe XD to Figma or vice-versa.

As a dedicated Figma user, I've found it to be a powerful tool, but there's one feature I miss from Adobe XD: the ability to share individual layouts.

In my workflow, I often need to share specific sections with colleagues or clients, rather than the entire project. While Figma's sharing options are robust, individual layout sharing would greatly enhance collaboration efficiency. I'm aware that Figma offers some sharing options, but even as a Pro member, users have access to the entire workspace.

I believe implementing this feature would streamline collaboration and empower users to manage projects more effectively.

Which is the most popular, which is the best and which would you recommend learning first?

So I begin using Adobe XD first but then I realised most clients used figma so I switched there. The thing is I want to settle. I don't like to use many different programs that do the same thing. So. Who's the king of ui design? Feel free to write a 10 page rant about why you love or hate each.

I’m very new to ID, working on my first mock project. I have a general understanding of everything in my design process and the tools I want to use - except prototyping. I’m afraid to sound totally stupid with this question but I feel like I’m missing sth. I can’t understand why Adobe XD is such a big deal. I understand it’s a tool designed specifically for experience design and it’s convenient but is it worth it when there are free tools like Power Point, Figma, Canva, etc.? What makes Adobe XD stand out? Is it the wireframing and how you can visualize all the interactions? Does it make a big difference for you in your ID work? Also, could someone please explain how exactly you go from prototyping to development on Storyline? Is there an easy way to convert an Adobe XD file into Storyline or do you rebuild the whole design piece by piece? It seems like there is sth very obvious here that I don’t know, so again, sorry if the question is dumb

Thank you all so much for the replies! I’m glad I can just use Figma instead because I do already know how from my previous job. I know XD and Figma are fairly similar but the amount of new tech I’m learning to use for ID is a bit overwhelming so this was a relief.

About a week ago, we teamed up with Adobe and Google to announce v2.0, and I thought it was a good excuse to hop on here to answer any questions and solicit feedback.

Quick intro: XD to Flutter is an open-source plugin for Adobe XD that exports your designs to Flutter. The latest version supports almost anything you can create in XD: vector shapes, gradients, shadows, background blurs, blend modes, images, rich text, responsive layout, grids, stacks, scroll groups, parameterized components, onTap parameters, prototype interactions, and more.

Rather than write a wall of text here, I'll provide a few links where you can learn more:

Now that we've mostly caught up with XD on features (at least the ones exposed to plugins), I'm planning to shift focus for v3.0 to developer integration. I want to make it easier to consume the exported code in a real project.

I'm also planning to create an example showing how best to utilize exported widgets in a larger app, and hopefully knock out a couple articles on our about best practices.

The goal is definitely NOT for devs to build their apps with this plugin. Instead, we want to reduce the barrier between design and dev. That could be as simple as grabbing the code for a gradient. Or, exporting a whole view so you can quickly toss it in an app to prototype. Or, outputting a fully responsive widget with parameters and interactions, which can be reused throughout your app.

Okay so hear me out.

I'm only a recent graduate and can't code enough to make my own website (+ it's expensive to host it) and I read on here that behance portfolios aren't the best option either. I use Adobe Portfolio now but apparently those don't work anymore when you don't have a subscription to the creative suite. The subscription from my school account will expire soon and I have yet to find a job. I already sent some companies my adobe portfolio link so I hope it will keep being online until they've seen it.

What if I make my whole portfolio on adobe XD, and send out the sharelinks to hiring managers?

I think the sharelink will still work even if I don't have a subscription anymore.
