Summary:

When teenage Yi encounters a young Yeti on the roof of her apartment building in Shanghai, she and her mischievous friends Jin and Peng name him “Everest” and embark on an epic quest to reunite the magical creature with his family at the highest point on Earth. But the trio of friends will have to stay one-step ahead of Burnish, a wealthy man intent on capturing a Yeti, and zoologist Dr. Zara to help Everest get home.

My younger kids heard the Goo Goo Dolls song “Long Way Home” on the radio the other day for the first time and said “hey, that’s from Everest”... which is what they call the Abominable movie. After they mentioned it, I could have sworn I too remembered seeing/hearing that song during the movie trailer back before it came out, but I cannot find it online anywhere. Was there some sort of dispute possibly between Dreamworks and Goo Goo Dolls and they had to change the trailer or are we all just imagining it?

Everest is a young yeti from the Himalayan Mountains. He was captured by Burnish Industries and held in a research facility in Shanghai, but he managed to escape. He befriends a girl named Yi, who names him Everest and sets off to bring him back home, with the help of her friends Peng and Jin.

Everest has a curious personality and is generally friendly, but he can be fierce when he or his friends are threatened. He has the ability to manipulate plants and natural forces through his vocalizations.
