I watched the Mitchells vs the machines on Netflix a few days ago and It was amazing and awesome. Abbi Jacobson was fantastic, charming and hilarious in her role as Katie Mitchell. Abbi has had a wonderful career. She created Broad City with her partner in crime Ilana Glazer. For 6 wonderful seasons, they made NYC their playground.
Since then Jacobson has gone on to appear on Crank Yankers, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Bob’s Burgers, Bojack Horseman, Portlandia, RuPauls Drag race and lip sync battle. She also stars in the Netflix animated series Disenchantment from Simpsons and Futurama creator Matt Groening and she’s producing and starring in a league of their own reboot for amazon. I also forgot to mention that she was a member of the Upright Citizens Brigade, the place that served as a breathing ground for comics like Amy Poehler, Adam McKay, Kate McKinnon, Bobby Moynihan and Jacobson’s best friend Ilana Glazer. I think with that said, she would make a great SNL host in the future.
I was shocked she didn’t get to host during her broad city days but with Disenchanment, a league of their own and the miitchells vs the machines on her belt, isn’t it time she gets a chance to come to studio 8H? I think so. She would do great with the cast and would be very funny. I hope we get a cameo from Ilana Glazer. She could appear in a couple of skits. Lucia Aniello and Paul Downs who both worked on broad city and wrote rough night, could serve as guest writers for her episode.
If it happens, Imagine dragons should be the musical guest for her episode in my opinion. They have new music coming and it would be their second appearance on the show. I hope it happens soon. Abbi could host sometime and next season would make sense IMO.
