7.4 / 10.0 - EVERSPACE 2
Oct 3, 2023

Everspace 2 is a solidly successful sequel, offering players more of what they loved from the first game while shifting away from the rogue-like trappings. The game provides a larger world with higher stakes, improved story, and more ship customization options.

The core gameplay hook of shifting reality via photography is incredibly well implemented. This results in an incredibly fun experience from start to finish.

With the Black Ops Cold War Campaign having multiple endings and Zombies / Multiplayer requiring you to grind a lot, you will definitely get your money’s worth. We do recommend that you wait until the game is patched a bit more before you buy it. The game has the potential to be a top Treyarch title but it’s just not there yet. Maybe by the time the first DLC releases, the game will be worth its price.

8.6 / 10.0 - Gotham Knights
Oct 20, 2022

Despite Batman’s absence, the story provides a glimpse into how Gotham might rise or fall without him, and the storytellers did a fantastic job bringing it to life.

Destroy All Humans! 2 Reprobed does a great job remastering Destroy All Humans 2 but clearly shows its age. The game looks great but the large variety of bugs really detracts from the overall experience. The game’s story is comedic despite not aging with the times unless you look at it satirically.

9 / 10.0 - Cyberpunk 2077
Jul 7, 2022

Playthrough Cyberpunk was made easier due to the similar controls of other popular shooters and RPGs. Players who are looking for hours of gameplay can find themselves easily lost in this game either through side quests or by trying out different fighting styles. Overall, we enjoyed our time with Cyberpunk 2077 and it is worth giving the game a second chance.

When it comes to Sucker for Love: First Date, we feel its charm but don’t fall in love. The story’s overall premise is cute and playful but a lack of choices really holds back the game. The developers attempt to make the player feel like there are multiple choices, but at the end of the day, these choices only come into play at the very end. We can admit that we have been spoiled by other games that have a narrative-driven story such as Catherine: Full Body, Detroit Become Human, or Doki Doki Literature Club. With that in mind, the story is still enjoyable to play through but lacks depth.

TMNT Shredders Revenge reunites Millenials with an arcade-style that they grew up with. The story is an enjoyable throwback to a variety of aspects of the 90sTMNT franchise. Playing through the story really showed us how much the developers love the 90s series and their work reflects that nostalgia, love, and passion. The gameplay and graphics are a refreshing take on the TMNT arcade fighting style without making too many modifications. Players of all ages can easily pick up the game and play it with whoever is willing. With the availability of couch co-ops either locally or online, players will be able to share this experience with their friends and loved ones.

9.1 / 10.0 - Kao the Kangaroo
May 27, 2022

Our small taste of Kao the Kangaroo at PAX East left us craving more and we can say that we have not been disappointed. That taste gave us enough to get a feel of what the game has to offer and thankfully the rest of the game lives up to those expectations. If you’d like a modern platformer with subtle pop culture nods then you will love KAO the Kangaroo. This game is easy to pick up whether you are 4 or 13 going on 30. Honestly, for never hearing of the franchise before PAX East 2022, it makes us want to go back and play some of the older titles. We might just have to do that or wait til the other two games get a reboot. If you like platformers and/or kangaroos, you should enjoy this game.

We Were Here Forever was a great experience even if the ending was devastating. The game’s puzzles are thought-provoking and each side of the puzzle has its own feel; you will need to play the game twice to experience each side. The game’s visual bugs, although annoying, were easy to fix and get around. The game’s music was enjoyable and alluring often setting the mood for the level. Control-wise, playing with a keyboard and mouse is an easier time, but for those who like using a controller, you will still need a mouse. The game’s replay value is there especially if you plan to play with random people and is still worth buying if you have a specific person in mind.

Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga is great for children who haven’t experienced the Star Wars movie. Die-Hard Star Wars fans will probably put this game down after a few hours and return it. The game does offer a lot of gameplay but the mechanics and controls hold it back. Even though the game’s graphics are polished, the game’s system feels out of date. Loading screens should not exist on the Xbox Series X. If you have a child or partner you want to introduce to Star Wars then Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga can be a good entry point. However, if you are a moderate or Die-Hard Star Wars fan, then the game will get old quickly. If you are on the fence about this game, it is better to wait for it to go on sale. A good purchase price is somewhere between $5 to $30. For a Lego game, it doesn’t feel like a Lego game; the game is missing the typical Lego comedic moments.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is fun to play through the first time or even while helping friends complete their campaign. Sadly, the game does not live up to the overall expectations that the team set. Yes, it still has the same Borderlands feel, but as a whole comes up a bit short. The story is enjoyable and the chaos dungeon does give players end-game content, but at the end of the day, it is rather lacking due to limited missions and overall exploration. Why buy a $60 game you can perfect in under 35 hours when you can pick up Horizon Forbidden West or Elden Ring and get double or more gameplay for the same price? If you love the typical Borderlands art style and humor then it will be an enjoyable time, but if you were looking for a massively open-world look elsewhere. The game’s overall story is enjoyable but the Dragon Lord still lives in the shadows of Handsome Jack. Despite playing through the campaign, there was no moment that really stood out to us. Yes, there are comical moments but not ones that you talk about at parties or ones that will carry on for years to come. As a stand-alone title, it’s more of an expanded DLC rather than an actual game.
