[–]AttackDuck 1243 points1244 points  (30 children)

Christ, how bad were that Derby team

[–]OnePieceAce 851 points852 points  (8 children)

They conceded 4+ goals nine times including 6 goals four times. Plus their manager had a sex tape leaked which makes me think a Wilder sex tape is the last thing I ever want to see

[–]itsbraille 377 points378 points  (5 children)

Where is your sense of adventure?

[–]Garad- 127 points128 points  (3 children)

He clearly has no passion for the game

[–]KakaReti 55 points56 points  (2 children)

My dick is tired, Robbie

[–]Garad- 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Well that’s too darn bad! Here’s a second viagra, go watch the second half tiger.

[–]derpnessfalls[🍰] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What I'm hearing is that leaked sex tapes are a 50/50 chance of either having the worst season in history or the most unexpectedly best a la Leicester

[–]Maleficent_Resolve44 212 points213 points  (18 children)

Even worse than Sheffield and Burnley. The top 3 are just having historic seasons so these bottom teams look worse than they are.

[–]Millie070 249 points250 points  (17 children)

There's not really anything historic about an 85+ pt pace. City and Liverpool have both gotten 90+ points multiple times in the past 5-6 years.

Looks like a great title race but these guys will likely all be 10 points off the recent title winners totals

[–]sophandros 139 points140 points  (0 children)

The last time three teams finished over 80 points in the same season was about a decade ago. A legit three-horse race doesn't happen that often.

[–]FlyingMocko 75 points76 points  (0 children)

3 teams on 85+ pt pace is definitely historic

[–]fergalroche 101 points102 points  (12 children)

Yes but this year it is but a season with a close top 3 will mean the average will go down.

[–]Grouchy-Ad-2085 14 points15 points  (0 children)

These 90 points seasons are not normall lol

[–]dave1992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah but almost all of those title race is competed by 2 teams. if 3 teams got lots of points, there will be less points available for most others.

[–]david_of_rivia 369 points370 points  (11 children)

Absolutely bizarre that the top 3 teams are the only teams who have conceded less goals than Everton this season.

Dyche doing a madness defensively.

[–]starmonkart 141 points142 points  (3 children)

We're actually good offensively too, just that we're absolutely shambolic in front of goal. Even Sheffield United and Burnley attackers are more clinical

[–]alexrepty 22 points23 points  (2 children)

Now you’re being hyperbolic. Everyone knows Sheffield United doesn’t even have attackers.

Or defenders, apparently

[–]AdminEating_Dragon 1927 points1928 points  (22 children)

Sheffield United at -50 GD, threatening an all time worst defense (in a 38 matches season, record held by Derby with 89 goals) and collecting several home humiliations.

One of the worst teams to ever appear in the PL, and they had to complete against two of their own seasons - last time they got relegated while scoring only 20 goals.

[–]zorfog 624 points625 points  (6 children)

At least they’ve beaten the infamous 11 points

[–]rScoobySkreep 348 points349 points  (5 children)

gift from Luton genuinely, one Luton must be absolutely kicking themselves for.

[–]Least-Outside7752 95 points96 points  (2 children)

Think about how we feel? 14 game winning streak at Villa Park… along come the worst team I have ever seen in the league… We just about scraped a draw

[–]LeftHandDriveBoC 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Least you beat them 0-5 in the away fixture though!

[–]ucd_pete 345 points346 points  (8 children)

At the rate they’re conceding goals they’ll the threaten Swindons record

[–]MajimaKun 125 points126 points  (7 children)

Only fitting from former Swindon number 1, Foderingham. Genuinely one of the worst starting keepers ever in the PL. Grbic has only challenged him to see who can concede more.

[–]reborndiajack 29 points30 points  (2 children)

His best performance was agaisnt us 😭

[–]MajimaKun 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I have the flair but I'm a Spurs fan too. I could only think about him getting subbed after 20 minutes and laid into by Di Canio back then and wondered how he got here haha. I blame myself for inspiring that performance out of him karmically.

[–]itsmetsunnyd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The entire home end was out for his damn blood. Those two late goals turning bloodlust to joy was pure magic.

[–]bambinoquinn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"League one Wes" as DiCanio used to call him

[–]taenerysdargaryen 106 points107 points  (3 children)

Only 18 more goals to go before they break the record. Genuinely conceivable with 11 games to play. If they're not careful they'll even beat Swindon's 100.

[–]parksideq 66 points67 points  (1 child)

They’re conceding 2.6 goals per game. There are some blowout outliers of course, but the fact that they have nonzero odds of conceding 100+ goals is borderline unfathomable.

[–]lolzidop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, hitting 100 goals would require them to concede 2.54GpG for the last 11 matches. So they're on track for exactly 100 as it stands.

[–]:england:OwnedIGN 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Still beat Luton, man. I honestly cannot believe it.

[–]TurnItOffAndOnAgain- 668 points669 points  (5 children)

Fellas im starting to think Sheffield United might be relegated

[–]ArmiinTamzarian 362 points363 points  (4 children)

I don't know. 10 or 15 clubs go into administration and we might have a chance

[–]Every_Pass_226 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Project Everyton

[–]AnnieIWillKnow 60 points61 points  (2 children)

Points deductions for Everton and Forest for PSR

City's 115 charges stick

There you are

[–]xaviernoodlebrain 14 points15 points  (1 child)

They would probably still go down despite the points deductions.

[–]Putrid-Initiative809 1070 points1071 points  (42 children)

City have Liverpool, Arsenal and Aston Villa in their next three games

[–]CuteHoor 1295 points1296 points  (30 children)

Watch them get 9 points and end all hope of a title race by March.

[–]Labhran 744 points745 points  (9 children)

I hate this, but this is how they do it most seasons.

[–]ElectricalMud2850 193 points194 points  (7 children)

It really is sickening. I hope it goes to the last day at least, this is shaping up to be such a good title race.

Honestly the whole table is shaped up really nicely for a fun stretch. 3rd relegation spot with looming deductions, title race, 4th place are all tasty.

[–]Labhran 104 points105 points  (6 children)

They’re just so deep. We’re hanging on by a thread with squad fitness and relying on youngsters and they can just bring the next class player in.

[–]verdevase 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Arsenal fan here, it's the same for us. Last season was a clear demonstration of how we don't have a solution for key players injured while City won without their best player...

[–]ConfusedVader1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Wdym they have 11 players on the field like everyone else /s

[–]Skaloplin 138 points139 points  (8 children)

The maximum number of points City could possibly be clear at top come end of March is 5. And that’s reliant on Liverpool losing home to Brighton and Arsenal losing home to Brentford

[–]CuteHoor 252 points253 points  (7 children)

To be honest, if City are even a couple of points ahead after the Arsenal and Liverpool games then I don't really see it going any other way. The only way to beat them in a title race is to keep them constantly in your rear view mirror.

[–]Skaloplin 65 points66 points  (5 children)

In 21/22 City very almost bottled it from like a 12 point lead over Liverpool at this stage of the season. Held on after the win against Villa but I do think City’s late season form in title races gets exaggerated a bit, twice they’ve done very well to see out a race in 18/19 and 22/23 but 21/22 they very nearly choked it

[–]DavidSilva21 140 points141 points  (1 child)

It was never 12 points, liverpool had 2 games in hand.

[–]ivc09 51 points52 points  (0 children)

it was 8 points if we had won those 2 in hand. 8 is still plenty and everyone had written a title race off.

[–]Zolofteu 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That's the thing though, when their lead got cut down to 1 point they protect that damn 1 point with their lives. In 21/22 near the end of the season Liverpool dropped points against Spurs and give a little breathing room for City and what do you know, a week later City dropped points as well, but never enough so they keep that 1 point lead. It was the same in 18/19. Oh Liverpool went on a winning streak after they dropped down to 2nd? City was like alright, we'll go on a winning streak too.

Sure in 21/22 they almost bottle it but in the end they didn't so it doesn't really mean anything other than it shows even when they drop points they drop points just enough so that they will still be top. I genuinely don't think City will lose the title if they at any point after this go top. Liverpool fans experienced enough how futile it is hoping for them to drop points when chasing them.

[–]CuteHoor 15 points16 points  (0 children)

But even then, the only example in recent years where they looked somewhat vulnerable was still a season where they won the league, and came back from behind to beat Villa when it was critical to do so. Mentally they're just on another level, and the only clear way to beat them is to stay ahead of them consistently rather than hope they'll drop points.

[–]RichardBreecher 39 points40 points  (1 child)

Come on goalless draw! You can do it!

[–]KakaReti 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ditto

[–]Koulidaddy123 115 points116 points  (8 children)

man if there wasnt the international break between city playing liverpool and then us, i genuinely think we would smash them in our form

[–]septicdeath 111 points112 points  (3 children)

Yeah was thinking that recently. The break benefits us but not really Arsenal this time around. City probably don't mind.

Personally, I hate international break. Especially this one where most teams are just playing friendlies

[–]Logster21 58 points59 points  (2 children)

I normally hate int breaks too but this one could work really well in our favour if we get Jones, Grav, Trent and potentially Ali and Jota back. Having Szobo and hopefully Salah back for City could prove crucial, an Endo, Mac, Szobo midfield is a really good midfield still even if our bench options are just Elliot and Clark

[–]awood20 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Jota back? He'll be lucky to play the last few games of the season. He did his PCL remember.

[–]Putrid-Initiative809 162 points163 points  (2 children)

We’re playing so well but city away might be the hardest fixture in football. I’m optimistic though.

[–]etan1122 61 points62 points  (1 child)

We all give city shit but I remember a couple years ago when it was Liverpool city going down to the wire that away game at city was hell. They were proper up for it. Stadium was bumping.

[–]ivc09 17 points18 points  (0 children)

it's the best I've ever seen any team play against us.

we still managed to get away with a draw, but it was terrifying. I would be stunned if arsenal won there.

[–]GhostofBobStoops 83 points84 points  (0 children)

You guys have won your last 5 league games by a combined score of 24-2. And that included Liverpool, West Ham, and Newcastle.

I’m obviously not the one that should be pointing this out lol but holy fucking shit

[–]ke_0z 875 points876 points  (27 children)

Still a lot to play for everywhere in the league.

3 teams fighting for the title, race for top 4 between Spurs and us (which could end up being rather meaningless if England gets that 5th CL spot), relegation battle between Luton, Everton, Forest and Brentford and a race for 6th place where arguably even Bournemouth (with a game in hand) in 13th place still have an outside chance.

Crystal Palace is the only team that is pretty safe and has nothing to play for. So very much in character for Palace.

[–]mathbandit 104 points105 points  (3 children)

Can't tell if it adds to or takes away from the drama that there will likely be 9-10 Europe spots in the league. I guess it will depend on if all of that 6-13 stay clumped or if a few fall off.

[–]Livinglifeform 50 points51 points  (2 children)

Max of 8. 7-8.

[–]f4r1s2 30 points31 points  (0 children)

If England gets extra spot then it's 8 and if either Brighton/West Ham finish outside the top 8 and win Europa then it's 9 spots

[–]mathbandit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Default 4+2+1 is 7. 8 for the UCL Coefficient spot. 9 for winning Europa. 10 for winning UECL.

[–]OnePieceAce 134 points135 points  (14 children)

Can you please wrap up top 4 before May 11th? I'm absolutely dreading that game if you guys are still in a top 4 race. Just beat Spurs and nick draws at the Etihad and Emirates thanks

[–]Wishbones_007 107 points108 points  (4 children)

It's Aston Villa so we're gonna make it hard for ourselves of course.

[–]HoneyIShrunkMyNads 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Wait that's spurs thing

[–]mrpink57 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's going to be tough you play Thursday, Sunday then the following Thursday. Welcome to our Leicester chase of old.

[–]itsbraille 127 points128 points  (4 children)

We win at the Emirates and Etihad that will wrap up Top 4 and get us back into the title race by May 11th. Wish granted!

[–]OnePieceAce 78 points79 points  (1 child)

No wait I take it back

[–]doggies_brah 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Fuck it we ball

[–]Millie070 13 points14 points  (0 children)

By the time that game is played it should be clear whether 5th gets CL, and the odds look pretty strong for England

[–]Therinn 21 points22 points  (2 children)

How are you putting Bournemouth who is 12 points off with a game in hand in the convo for 6th but us not in the convo for 4th?

[–]ArmiinTamzarian 433 points434 points  (4 children)

There is no hope. Fuck everything. Up the Blades

[–]Stranger2Luv 10 points11 points  (0 children)

How do you ku guys keep coming back the Championship must be ass

[–]wjdbfifj[S] 658 points659 points  (4 children)

The title race is on

Also yeah, Sheffield may have a chance of getting relegated

[–]dugxigfhi 129 points130 points  (0 children)

Burnley aswell

[–]jfkk 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Retrocessioned

[–]BrotherSeamus 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Everton should have let the full ten point penalty stand, and applied the remaining four toward a future offense.

[–]satanlikesyou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But imagine if they didn’t? Would be hilarious too ngl

[–]paprikalicous 910 points911 points  (40 children)

kompany is shit for being on the same points as sheffield utd, i do not care

[–]MegaMugabe21 582 points583 points  (20 children)

Kompany just is not pragmatic at all. Like I get playing your style, but realistically if you don't have the quality to pull it off, you gave to adapt.

[–]xsandrov 389 points390 points  (18 children)

It’s obviously more important for him to sell his style for the future of his own career

[–]SoWhatNoZitiNow 207 points208 points  (3 children)

I think it would be much more impressive if he managed to adapt and coach a style of football that works for the players he has and in the league he’s in. Would show that he’s not one-dimensional. To show he has that in his toolbox would be more impressive to me.

[–]strattele1 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It’s not so simple. If burnley want a hot shot at escaping, it’s better to stick to their guns and hope they can pull off a miracle. If they don’t, well they go down to a league they just completely obliterated with that same style and with parachute payments in hand.

[–]rwsen22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is the key difference between Thomas frank and Iraola, who both adapted their style massively and guys like kompany and slavisa jokanovic who never do, and therefore probably won’t have a long term premier league career

[–]PartrickCapitol 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The royal comrade of Guardiolaist ideology

[–]GaryHippo 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Mate his style of football is shit. They barely press at all anymore.

[–]Mahatma_Gone_D 66 points67 points  (1 child)

Kompany has the same GD as City, what you talking?

[–]itsbraille 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Absolutely.

[–]ArmiinTamzarian 70 points71 points  (0 children)

All I see is we are equal to Pep's successor. Pep should come around Bramall Lane and show Kompany how its done

[–]FloppedYaYa 190 points191 points  (4 children)

Kompany being under no scrutiny despite spending millions and millions on shite and never adapting is so bizarre.

[–]Riperonis 53 points54 points  (9 children)

At least Sheffield has tried to switch things up, Burnley persisting with Kompany given what he’s done this season is pretty embarrassing tbh.

[–]RepresentativeBox881 46 points47 points  (7 children)

Burnley persisting with Kompany given what he’s done this season is pretty embarrassing tbh.

Maybe because they think he'll promote them again next season. After all they bossed the Championship last year.

[–]MarcosSenesi 33 points34 points  (0 children)

yeah he's obviously not interested at all in being more pragmatic because he has (or at least thinks he has) his philosophy figured out and is looking at getting to work with better players to make it work.

Very surprised Burnley haven't moved him on yet because he definitely doesn't care if they go back down or not.

[–]fajdexhiu 1172 points1173 points  (18 children)

Arsenal has a higher GD (45) than Manchester United has points this season (44)

[–]RoetRuudRoetRuud 400 points401 points  (0 children)

I can't believe you've done this

[–]johnnygrant 334 points335 points  (14 children)

The fact that we have a GD of 10 more than City is crazy to me.

This recent run came out of nowhere. We'd looked worse in attacking compared to last season til they went on that Christmas break. They must have met some genie in the desert.

[–]spurs_fan_uk 144 points145 points  (3 children)

That’s what a run of like +20 GD in the last month or so will do. Crazy.

[–]rdldr 128 points129 points  (1 child)

+28 since Jan 20, it's nuts

[–]xepa105 36 points37 points  (0 children)

If you take just the 7 matches Arsenal played since Jan 20, they'd have the third-highest GD in the league and would not be in the relegation zone with 21 points.

[–]skyline385 68 points69 points  (0 children)

31 goals in last 7 matches, if someone told me this at the end of last year I would have laughed at them.

[–]AnnieIWillKnow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It was Salt Bae, clearly

[–]PartrickCapitol 46 points47 points  (3 children)

City always get into the cruise mode, after having a comfortable lead, played their tiki taka training session in the midfield and don’t have a lot of forward intent. Especially this season, we often stopped playing after 2-0 and 3-1 leads.

Honestly this annoyed me a bit, maybe Pep instructed the team to just rest on the field and don’t waste too much energy, to prevent fatigue and injuries?

[–]kakarot12310 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Considering the fixture congestions & how many injuries out there for teams, can't blame him

[–]ConfusedVader1 30 points31 points  (1 child)

I mean Arsenal also go up by 3-4 goals in like the first half and then just stop scoring. Both teams prioritize keeping their players healthy and less tired over a high number in the scoreline.

[–]crookedparadigm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically has been Klopp's approach as well, just something all those top teams have to consider with fixture congestion, if you can treat the second half as a light training session, why not? There's also the risk of teams getting humiliated and lashing out. Look at the United 0-5 Liverpool game a couple seasons ago, we probably could have put 10 past them that day but they started deliberately playing to injure us with disgusting tackles flying in from half their "stars". We stepped off the gas to protect our players.

[–]deathbladev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some times it just clicks and can be very amazing like this.

[–]BumbotheCleric 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Heartbreaking: your least favorite person has just embarrassed your second least favorite person

[–]Caboose_Juice 10 points11 points  (0 children)

what he say fuck me for

[–]FloppedYaYa 386 points387 points  (3 children)

All the worst team ever hype about Sheffield United and Burnley are on level points with them lol

[–]squeezecake 206 points207 points  (0 children)

That -50 goal difference is brutal though lol

[–]Youutternincompoop 86 points87 points  (1 child)

because Sheffield United actually try to shithouse draws and wins by any means necessary, Burnley just get outplayed without changing their tactics at all.

[–]Huggly001 137 points138 points  (1 child)

Villa on pace for 77 and comfortably behind 3rd goodness. And they’re not even separating from 5th. The bottom clubs are absolutely shipping points to the top.

[–]AffectionateArt2277 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Err, we drew with Sheffield United thanks to a last minute of stoppage time equaliser. Sheffield United aren't that bad you know...

[–]nba2k16 133 points134 points  (8 children)

Wow. Chelsea fighting for that 10th spot huh?

[–]northerncal 39 points40 points  (0 children)

If they can win their game in hand they'll go top half of the table!!!

[–]TravisKOP 129 points130 points  (0 children)

Arsenal goal diff in the league since the new year is +28. Kicking everyone’s teeth in

[–]crazy_bean 372 points373 points  (9 children)

That goal difference

[–]Vitosi4ek 275 points276 points  (7 children)

Unironically this. It might matter at the end, you never know.

[–]ArmiinTamzarian 377 points378 points  (2 children)

Scenes when we stay up on -70 goal diff

[–]LookitsToby 177 points178 points  (0 children)

Honestly inspiring that you still believe it'll stay double figures

[–]HiroLegito 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I guess the likelihood of staying up is with the fact that there might be teams that get deducted points.

[–]Underscores_Are_Kool 20 points21 points  (0 children)

8 games played, 25 points gained

[–]Sinistrait 30 points31 points  (2 children)

I mean if Liverpool draw City this weekend (likely) and Arsenal win (also likely) then Arsenal go into the April top of the league on GD. It definitely does matter, even the psychological pressure makes teams break sometimes.

[–]lynxo 249 points250 points  (11 children)

Exciting for everyone - City, Liverpool, Arsenal and neutral fans alike.

Let's hope it a nailbiter until the end, it's much more fun everyone that way and way more memorable.

[–]lclear84 189 points190 points  (0 children)

Think the storylines are the most exciting this year. A wounded Liverpool clinging to their lead by the most impressive B team we’ve seen in a long time, and a Arsenal team that took some poor December form on the chin and have looked like terminators since. And both of these teams sandwiching ole reliable who’s getting their big guns firing now

[–]DaffyDingo 115 points116 points  (9 children)

It’s my first year watching the EPL and football in general. I’m afraid, between Premier, Bundesliga, and La Liga to an extent, my expectations have been set too high for seasons to come.

[–]MarcosSenesi 73 points74 points  (8 children)

Bundesliga should be fun for years to come, it'll take a bit for Bayern to get rolling again

[–]WorthPlease 123 points124 points  (0 children)

And Bayern celebrate their tenth Bundesliga title in a row!

[–]UnexpectedVader 58 points59 points  (0 children)

You reckon they are going to pull a Juve? Idk, I feel like it's just Leverkusen have been having a historic season by any club's standard. Can't see this happening again.

Would love to be wrong, though, Germany has some great clubs and it'll be amazing to see it be more open.

[–]Skaloplin 27 points28 points  (0 children)

We did also think this when Dortmund were clear at top last season. And with Leverkusen likely raided for players and manager status quo likely resumes

[–]DaffyDingo 22 points23 points  (2 children)

I have my doubts. Assuming Xabi goes to Liverpool, who’s really standing in Bayern’s way?

[–]alexrepty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Time to bring back all out attack football at Werder and win the league with a bunch of 5-4 score lines.

[–]OleoleCholoSimeone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No it won't, it will be like in 2012. This will make Bayern really take their gloves off and do whatever it takes to improve

In a paradoxical way Leverkusen isn't doing anyone a favour by running away with it this much, similar to Dortmund spanking Bayern 5-2 in the 2012 cup final. Watzke himself said that they were too dominant for their own good and it poked the bear

[–]rScoobySkreep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bundesliga genuinely doesn’t have anyone to step up is the issue. The top 6 are currently all shit besides Leverkusen. Then the next 12 are all shit too.

Genuinely feels like Augsburg, Stuttgart, Leverkusen, and generously Bremen are the only teams overperforming expectations. The rest are either playing poorly and lucky or just outright doing very shit.

[–]suzukigun4life 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Excited for Sunday

[–]Fraldbaud 103 points104 points  (5 children)

Any other United fans quite fancy a go at the conference league? With a bit of luck and a decent draw I think we could probably get out of our group

[–]PartrickCapitol 48 points49 points  (3 children)

West Ham walked the conference.

If United take it seriously, that would be a guaranteed trophy at least to save Ten Hag

[–]I--Pathfinder--I 27 points28 points  (0 children)

dunno if they want to be saving ten hag

[–]stogie_t 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends if he’s still there for next season.

[–]LDLB99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Andy Mitten is desperate for some new European away days, he’ll be secretly pleased

[–]No-Zucchini2787 33 points34 points  (2 children)

Luton town - the unlucky team of this season.

That -17 doesn't represent their true gameplay.

[–]Bd_3 21 points22 points  (1 child)

If matches were 70 minutes i think they’d be well clear of the relegation zone

[–]ukrnffc 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If your grandmother had wheels, she'd be a bike

[–]Love_Long_Lost 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Somehow, historically bad Burnley isn't even the worst team in the EPL.

[–]PipBoy19 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Sunday.

We have to play Spurs, City, Arsenal, and Liverpool again while also focusing on our own Champions League ambitions. There’s a lot of pressure but I trust Emery to guide us through.

[–]alexrepty 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I’d appreciate it if you lost to Arsenal and won the other three. Cheers.

[–]thezaland 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s actually so frustrating to be so utterly dominant at times this season, and score an astronomical amount of goals, while improving in nearly every facet. Yet we are still in 3rd.

[–]No-Cockroach4736 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Sheffield united almost averaging 3 goals conceded a game and only 1 clean sheet in the league all season ☠️

[–]elkking 70 points71 points  (3 children)

Unai Emery take a bow

[–]ben-hur-hur 36 points37 points  (2 children)

massive respect for Unai considering where Stevie had Villa when he got sacked

[–]KakaReti 29 points30 points  (1 child)

Stevie for Liverpool 24-25 onwards

[–]punk_salad 16 points17 points  (2 children)

Arsenal scored the most and allowed the fewest goals, and they're sitting in 3rd

[–]GodEmprahBidoof 8 points9 points  (1 child)

That's what happens when you stat pad against teams like Sheffield utd and Liverpool

[–]Soberdonkey69 60 points61 points  (0 children)

This Sheffield United team is the worst team ever in the PL. They genuinely play like headless chickens, even more embarrassing is seeing Saliba complete more passes than their whole team. Bringing Wilder back to destroy his reputation further must be nice though.

I find it even more amazing how Luton have performed so well despite nearly everyone writing them off at the beginning of the season - including that idiot Garth Crooks on BBC Sport.

Loving the title race, I just hope I don’t get to see Man City sweep through it again like they’ve done in recent seasons. Liverpool are showing grit and experience through a title run, slightly over-performing but going that extra yard for Klopp’s final season. Arsenal are in scintillating form, crushing any opposition in their way and casting aside the doubts that many had shown at the end of 2023.

Villa continue to impress, as Watkins reaches new heights that should earn him a deserved spot for the Euros squad and hopefully a CL spot for his team next season. Emery shows his class, going from strength to strength and finally entering the mix to break the big six.

Positives:

We're top of the league after 27 games

We've been the best team in winning (4 points fewest) and losing (22 points most) positions. Which shows our versatility and mentality

Negatives:

Injuries

Man Utd and Chelsea have a better record vs the current top 6 than us. We've done an amazing job at beating bottom half teams but we need to win our remaining top 6 games (City H, Utd A, Spurs H and Villa A)

[–]nicheshogaze 19 points20 points  (2 children)

What would Old Trafford at Home look like?

[–]OnePieceAce 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Not sure but knowing those pricks they'll be up for it. They know we can equal their league titles

[–]etan1122 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It’ll be tight unless Liverpool get the first goal then Liverpool win 3/4-0

[–]_deep_blue_ 17 points18 points  (3 children)

On the flip side, we’ve taken 7/9 points from our three games vs Liverpool and City but we’re still behind you both. It’s more annoying to have dropped silly points to the lower-ranked sides.

[–]shlam16 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This was Liverpool back before Klopp. They'd often finish like 4th or lower, but would lead the mini-table up top. The seasons were wasted on 0-0 draws against relegation sides.

[–]doubleoeck1234 5 points6 points  (1 child)

It's the same for the other teams as well though. Liverpool Drew to Luton and United and got robbed against Spurs.

City have drawn twice against Chelsea, once to Palace and lost to wolves

[–]_deep_blue_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m aware, but we’ve done it more often—hence why we’re below you. We’ve taken 3 more points than you did from our two games but we’re behind you. We beat City but are behind them.

[–]KakaReti 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Damn. Could go 12/12 or 0/12. Tough games

[–]BurceGern 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Season of transition and rebuilding btw

[–]Ajax_Trees_Again 40 points41 points  (11 children)

5/6 as europa league? Google has it as 5 only

[–]iiiba 56 points57 points  (1 child)

its technically not fully decided yet, theres still a chance liverpool may finish outside the top 5

[–]mathbandit 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Plus we don't know how many Europa spots there will be or where they'll start. Could be anywhere from just #5 making it to all of #7-9 making Europa.

[–]mathbandit 12 points13 points  (8 children)

Europa League could reasonably end up being 7-9 this year lol.

[–]HCHLH 35 points36 points  (0 children)

11 MD left and Sheffield is just 28 goals away from receiving +100 goals during a season. Derby got 89.

[–]ScrawChuck 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Everton’s goals against is outrageous for their position

[–]starmonkart 8 points9 points  (1 child)

That's what happens when you have 6 points deducted and have the world's most useless attack

[–]tiford88 19 points20 points  (3 children)

6th-11th is getting spicy

[–]jacktk_ 39 points40 points  (1 child)

May as well include Fulham if you include Chelsea.

[–]tiford88 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Could do, Chelsea have the game in hand though

[–]Classic_Scientist901 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Why does the premier league have two europa league spots while the Serie A only has one? (There was a simimilar post but with Serie A before and it only showed one europa place)

[–]mikedude7 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I think the second Italian Europa league spot goes to the Coppa Italia winner and only goes on league position if the winner finishes in the top 5

[–]Soren_Camus1905 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Up to 11th, and people are Poch out smh

[–]TonyMartial786 3 points4 points  (0 children)

crazy that arsenal have been as good as they have, and are 3rd 😭. what an insane title race.

[–]WealthyBigWang 17 points18 points  (0 children)

United having a negative goal difference after 27 games is still possibly the funniest thing in the league table, that’s more embarrassing than whatever the relegated teams end up on

[–]Critical_C0conut 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sheffield being this poor can only mean one thing

Sheffield 2 - 0 Chelsea

[–]JessicaSmithStrange 8 points9 points  (1 child)

When was the last full on 3 way title race?

Not talking about teams entering for a few weeks and then vanishing again, like Tottenham, but instead pressuring each other for large portions of the season.

[–]SaintArkweather 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really hoping Luton can stay up! They seem like they still have a shot but it will be tough

[–]stupidwhysostupid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How we score more than Man U? LMAO.

[–]The-Berzerker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Remember when people were talking about Tottenham being a title contender lmao

[–]GarfieldDaCat 74 points75 points  (27 children)

Arsenal have been missing Partey almost all season as well as key players like Tomiyasu and Zinchenko missing big time as well.

That’s not even counting Timber who looked fantastic either.

Arteta is doing an incredible job this season

[–]No-Pension-7977 97 points98 points  (2 children)

I mean, City have missed KDB and Haaland for extended periods of time. We have missed Salah, Trent and Jota for extended periods of time. Dont get me wrong, Arsenal are doing great this season, but all three teams are doing that and all three have had injury problems

[–]YaqootK 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Klopp and Pep have been at it for years though, nobody questions their abilities as managers because of what they've acheived and how long they've been at the top.

It's a talking point with Arteta because he doesn't have the experience and success of the other two and there is a constant discussion on whether or not he is/can be an elite level manager.

[–]Chemical-Oil-9336 38 points39 points  (0 children)

They had Saka, Rice, Saliba, Odegaard healthy 95% of the time. Not something either City or Liverpool can say for their 4 most important players.

[–]MrConor212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Three horse race so far

[–]CriticismMission2245 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Burnley really shows how huge the gap from the Championship to Premier league is. Respect for playing their style of football though.

[–]cactus_toothbrush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im not convinced Sheffield United are going to win the league this year.

[–]SmilingNevada9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Luton survives bc of Forest's point deduction 💀

[–]bigdicnick52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arsenal run made their goal difference crazy. What a new year for Arsenal

[–]stogie_t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Newcastle fix their midfield, they might just get that sixth spot
