Obviously this is just my opinion and I love every actor on this show. They are all terrific

I just still look back and think about the performance Mckean gave as Chuck Mcgill and it gives me goosebumps. Chuck is such a complex character. He is an asshole, mentally ill, right about jimmy, a sympathetic character, etc. He was a character that was just hard to form a true opinion on because of his illness and I know for me i was very sympathetic towards him especially when he died. I felt empty because i Just look at him as a mentally ill guy whose life was ruined by Jimmy, even if he wasnt the best brother and there was jealousy brewing, he was never wrong about Jimmy and the type of person he was.

Mckean just played him beautifully. I just cant really put in words of how great Mckean was as Chuck. A truly master-craft performance, not just in the show but of all time. Well done Mckean and its to this day its still a damn shame that you didnt win an emmy, let alone get nominated

Michael McKean is my name. A native NYer, I still live here part time, elsewise in LA. I act, write, sing, laugh; I dig old movies, music of every vintage and variety. You?

Michael McKean does such a good job as The Clown in the Star Trek Voyager episode The Thaw. He brings the perfect mix of humor and serious psychological disturbance to the character, while raising the acting level of everybody around him. One of the best episodes. It's a long way from Laverne & Shirley.

It's a truly wonderful performance. There's so much going on underneath his cold exterior. The way he struggles with his illness, the way he rationalizes to himself why it's okay for him to pull heartstring con jobs on his brother in the effort to expose him. Lots of subtext and lots of unanswered questions. And after he passes away, his presence never truly leaves the show IMO. You forget about him from time to time in the more heated moments, but his absense is felt.

I cried when he appeared in Saul Gone. I cried a lot during Saul Gone but he really got me.

Michael McKean just posted this. He’s cold and it appears to be the New Mexico desert with a green/blue screen on set. Could this mean a kind of surreal Jimmy dream sequence?

I don’t think we talk often enough about how the broken relationship between Chuck and Jimmy stems in large part from their relationship with their parents. Chuck believes Jimmy’s skimming from the shop drove their father to an early grave and Chuck conceals their mother’s final words from Jimmy out of spite. But in the famous Chicanery monologue, there’s a moment that always stood out to me as the only moment Chuck isn’t thinking of his own hatred of Jimmy but rather about what Jimmy’s actions did to their parents. The way McKean delivers the line “stealing them blind” is so heart wrenching with the way his voice cracks on “blind” as if he’s truly holding back tears in that moment. It’s the only time when the monologue shifts briefly from anger to sadness. It’s quick and easy to miss, but it adds so much to the level of pain Chuck is in and the amount of trauma they share. It’s as if Chuck is saying “never mind what you’ve done to me, look at what you did to them”. It’s a really crushing moment elevated to greatness by McKean’s phenomenal performance.
