I just watched "10 Cloverfield Lane" for the first time since it was in theaters. Man, I forgot how absolutely incredible John Goodman's performance was. You spend one third of the movie being creeped out by him, the next third feeling sympathy for him, and the final third being completely terrified of him. I've rarely watched a performance that made me feel so conflicted over a character.
I know it's a longshot, but I would really love to see him at least get an Oscar nomination for his role.
Here's a brief scene for those unfamiliar:
Nostalgia is often triggered by something reminding you of a happier time. Whether it's an old commercial or a book from your past, it belongs in /r/nostalgia. Here we can take pleasure in reminiscing about the good ol' days... times we shared with loved ones, both humorous and sad. So grab your Pogs, Surge cans and Thriller cassettes, and we'll see you in /r/nostalgia!
Absolute Unit : an Animal or Public Figure, who is larger than we should normally expect.
Is anyone else bothered by seeing John Goodman getting older? I feel like I'm watching my dad get old and weak, and I kinda hate it!
Dan is NOTHING like what my dad was... but just watching the show throughout my childhood and now adulthood, it just feels like Dan is a father figure that's always been there. And I really dislike seeing him age!

He's in two scenes, less than 10 total minutes. Denzel Washington is the lead. One of the greatest actors in history. Cheadle, Greenwood, Reilly, Badge-Dale. Non-trivial actors in supporting roles. But Goodman. Wow. Simultaneously funny, sleazy, scary, intimidating. When he's walking into the hospital, Sympathy For The Devil on the soundtrack, "I'm on the list babygirl". Holy shit. He overtakes the scenes. Admittedly in both his scenes, Denzel's character is out of it (first, due to his injuries, second, due to a drunken stupor). But still, Goodman fucking crushes it.

In this season's debut I couldn't help but notice how obvious it is that something is up with his teeth. He's even having trouble speaking properly without you hearing it. Was this glaring to anyone else?
