Hinduism is also referred to as the Sanātana Dharma (Devanāgarī: सनातन धर्म meaning "eternal dharma"). It is the oldest living religion in the world. It is often said that Hinduism is a religion as well as a "way of life", and anyone sincerely following that way of life can consider themselves to be a Hindū. Hi everyone,
My fiance just had surgery, and I was supposed to be on a plane from Dulles to Amman last night. I was texted that the flights are canceled for now til the situation is more stable. Has anyone been given additional information? I was told things MIGHT clear up by May. Being separated like this is rough!!
Hello everyone, I’m new here. Decided to post here cause I saw this community is more open than its other counterpart.
Can someone give a brief overview on the job market in Amman (preferably tech)? What’s the salary situation like? Do I need to speak proper Arabic to work here? My Arabic is broken and I struggle to read. Noticed a lot of Arabic is used (products and shop signs). Can I manage work here with broken Arabic? I noticed that basic expenses are quite high compared to what I’m used to, for crappier quality. Not a big fan of fast food but to be fair I was shocked at the sample portion size of Schawrma sandwich meals costing 5 JD from 2 shops in Abdoun. For that price, you get a much bigger portion where I lived. Maybe that was an expensive area, since I observed people dressed up fancy and driving a Tesla, but then I went down town “Wast Al Balad”, a rotten area (I apologize for the word used here), and was even more shocked at the prices. 3 JD for a pint of Ice cream? And what’s going on with the grocery prices? Went to Carrefour.. Never again.
Please recommend a reasonably priced supermarket with okay meat products.
Thank you in advance.
This is my first day in Amman. Since the morning I got two men asking me to “be friends tonight”, tens of signals from the cars, many people staring at me and taxi drivers texting me on WhatsApp. First, it was funny, now I’m scared. I’m now at my place when it’s only around 8 pm but I don’t want to go out (I rented an apartment in Jubaiha, which I was told is a good option for students).
Since I’m going to study here for four months, please give me any tips to survive here.
