I urge you to refund Arizona Sunshine.

Today I discovered that unless you have and intel I7 CPU there are parts of the game you cannot play because the developers have locked. For this alone is a scam by Vertigo games and they should be ashamed of them selves for such shady scam. I understand marketing for the I7 but locking content to those who don't have the specific hardware is horrible business practice. I do not want to support these developers at all now or in the future and I suggest everyone does the same.

Edit: Well done guys it appears that Vertigo games have reverted their locked content and have released all locked content. The game modes should be playable to all now. I'm glad they listened to us but if you do not agree with such business practices, like myself, refund or continue to boycott. Our VR market is so small and we cannot let companies do this to us. Thanks for all of your help I appreciate it all!

Who is still getting Arizona Sunshine 2 tomorrow?

Despite the reports of short runtime and the truly lazy and abysmal hoard mode i'm still probably going to be playing this tomorrow.

Curious as its definitely getting alot of mixed reactions since people learned the short runtime compared to price point. There was huge hype a few weeks back but its definitely soured and been way overshadowed by Asguards Wrath 2 looking amazing.

Anyway - mostly curious because as a coop game i'm wondering how active it will be.

Critic Reviews

CGMagazine - Justin Wood - 9 / 10

Arizona Sunshine 2 brings much welcomed changes and evolutions to the formula of the first one. With the inclusion of its adorable Buddy, Arizona Sunshine 2 is a great VR zombie game.

Digital Trends - Tomas Franzese - 3 / 5

Arizona Sunshine 2's technical problems prevent an otherwise solid zombie VR shooter from reaching its full potential.

GAMES.CH - Nico Schluchter - German - 82%

The sequel remains true to its predecessor and takes the franchise to a new level. Strong graphics and superb weapon control are the biggest plus points. On the other hand, the level of difficulty is low and the artificial intelligence is average at best. Simple light hearted fun and suited best for casual mature PSVR2-users.

GamingTrend - Ron Burke - 95 / 100

An absolute blast from start to finish, Arizona Sunshine 2 outdoes its predecessor in every way, and that's high praise indeed.

God is a Geek - Chris White - 7.5 / 10

Arizona Sunshine 2 doesn't reinvent the genre, but that doesn't mean gunning down waves of zombies with your pooch isn't a ton of fun.

IGN - Dan Stapleton - 8 / 10

Arizona Sunshine 2 keeps the pressure on for a long campaign of zombie slaying full of satisfyingly gory head shots, entertaining humor, and the bond between a lonely man and his dog.

Press Start - Brodie Gibbons - 8 / 10

Arizona Sunshine 2 is a bloody, pulpy and, most importantly, meaty experience that turns undead dismemberment from a somewhat dated trope into a fun workout that gives you more than enough toys to play with. And with a loyal pup at your side, this sequel is not only a blast but it feels like the killer app the platform has been needing.

Push Square - Aaron Bayne - 8 / 10

Despite some technical letdowns, Arizona Sunshine 2 is still a joyous celebration of zombie brain-bashing. It features some of the best VR shooting on the market, with a reload mechanic that is incredibly satisfying and really brings to light what makes the platform so great in the first place. As a sequel, it improves graphically, narratively, and just controls a whole lot better. With a solid campaign offering, various difficulties, and a horde mode with more maps to come, Arizona Sunshine 2 is the full VR package - and an absolute must-buy for PSVR2 players.

TechRaptor - Robert Scarpinito - 7.5 / 10

Arizona Sunshine 2 is an A-grade VR shooter with a B-movie plot. The main character isn’t that loveable, but the gunplay sure is. It’s worth playing for the action alone—you just might cringe every now and then.

The Beta Network - Samuel Incze - 8 / 10

Arizona Sunshine II is a great VR experience with a simple but heartfelt narrative and fluid gunplay that feels very natural with the VR controllers. The game does feature a variety of bugs, but this doesn’t stop it from being an enjoyable thrill ride!

Arizona Sunshine is actually really good.

So I have had my Vive since June and have accrued over 40 VR games since then. Among them have been many wave shooters and multiplayer games, but none that had a satisfying campaign. This is what I think makes Arizona Sunshine a great game. The story is cohesive and well narrated. The voice actor and well placed dialogue lines remind me of firewatch. Honestly the gameplay is very fun and the guns are realistic. It takes a little skill to fire them but by the end its all headshots. I am doing Hard mode now and am enjoying the second play through just as much as the first. The single player alone was enough to stop me from returning the game. Anyway I just noticed it was getting a lot of hate directly after release. So don't let that stop you picking it up.

PSVR Without Parole - 7.2/10

At $50 I was definitely hoping that Vertigo would delivered a more polished fleshed out zombie game than Arizona Sunshine 2. The controls feel good and it's fun as hell to kill tons of zombies (especially with a friend) and the adventure overall feels solid. But for every high there's a low, and those lows tarnish what otherwise would've been an excellent game.

IGN - 8/10

Arizona Sunshine 2 keeps the pressure on for a long campaign of zombie slaying full of satisfyingly gory head shots, entertaining humor, and the bond between a lonely man and his dog.

Gamertag VR - Unscored

If you're looking for a zombie shooter that isn't deep and it's all about the action, Arizona Sunshine 2 is a great game. If However you're looking for something deep and pretty memorable, I'm not sure that this would tick the box for everyone.

UploadVR - 5/5

Vertigo Games has brought the Arizona Sunshine franchise back from the dead and living its best afterlife. With pitch perfect writing, acting, pacing and outstanding action, Arizona Sunshine 2 offers some of the most engaging and accessible arcade violence yet to grace VR.

Beardo Benjo - Unscored

It's an easy recommendation for the fans of the original or for people who just want a fun, emotional zombie shooter in VR. If you play co-op and you engage with the horde mode, I'm confident you'll get easily 10, 20 or more hours out of this game but if you're just in it for single player, chances are you'll get closer to 4 or 5 hours for one runthrough.

The VR Grid - 7.5/10

Ultimately AS2 is a bigger and better sequel in almost every way but doesn't really take any risks and can't help but feel like more could've been done to make things a little more engaging. With the campaign clocking in at roughly 7 hours or so, there's a decent amount of game here and the co-op option is a welcome addition. I just don't know if I'm fully behind the asking price.

PSVR Underground - Unscored

The best way that I can describe it is it takes everything from the first game and makes everything slightly better, at the very least. Having Buddy with you just made the game and being alone in the apocalypse much less lonely and I did kinda grow a bond with him. As for the price I would like this to be a little bit cheaper, it's definitely not a $60 game. The killer deal for this game would be $30 but it could pass as a $40 game.

Push Square - 8/10

Despite some technical letdowns, Arizona Sunshine 2 is still a joyous celebration of zombie brain-bashing. It features some of the best VR shooting on the market, with a reload mechanic that is incredibly satisfying and really brings to light what makes the platform so great in the first place. As a sequel, it improves graphically, narratively, and just controls a whole lot better. With a solid campaign offering, various difficulties, and a horde mode with more maps to come, Arizona Sunshine 2 is the full VR package — and an absolute must-buy for PSVR2 players.

Cas and Chary - Unscored

Despite of its technical quirks, AS2 is a VR adventure worth embarking on. It's perfect for those seeking a ton of gruesomely satisfying action, some storytelling and a lot of heart. You'll especially love buddy who adds a layer of emotional depth that truly enriches the experience. One of the game's best features is co-op play. Going through this journey with a friend significantly elevates the experience. Playing solo is a one thing, but with a partner is the whole different ballgame so I highly recommend to find a fellow survivor to join you. Occasional technical issues are hard to overlook and for a price of $50 you would hope for a smoother experience.

Arizona Sunshine 2 is frustrating

I played the original Arizona Sunshine and was pumped when the 2nd one was announced.

Graphics At first impressions graphics were really good atmosphere seemed pretty immersive but repetitive bland environments and enemies got pretty old fast. Although you can interact with zombies more the details on them is not that great.

Gameplay The gameplay is so frustrating. I don't know how many times I reached down to get my gun and the grab didn't register so I was left empty handed as I got mobbed by enemy zombies. The guns randomly dropped, and reloading was not as smooth as it couldve been. The aiming was also off, there were times where I aimed perfectly and could not get a shot. The ballistics and guns did not feel like they had weight to them. I never had to think about these when playing Resident Evil Village.

Melee is pretty fun and the dog is a great add but I found myself relying on dog too much.

Story Honestly I liked the simple story line of the first one, I thought it was fun and the game didn't take itself seriously and luckily that is still true for the 2nd.

Rating 6/10

I bought it day one to support devs even though RES 4 came out same time (I don't know why they released it at same time but maybe they knew it wouldn't match up? Kind of shitty for VR gamers to have to choose.)

To people saying the Arizona Sunshine change was "Too late"

What message are you trying to convey? You were protesting an issue, expecting change, then denying the change when it comes?

All this makes it look like to devs is..

"It doesn't matter if we get rid of exclusivity, people won't stop complaining"!

All you are doing is encouraging developers not to follow their community because, in the end, stubborn people still won't be willing to buy their game.

This doesn't help the community or prevent exclusivity deals in any way! Please, buy the game if you think it'll entertain you, but don't go around saying that the developers doing the right thing makes them evil!

We’re bringing an enhanced version of Arizona Sunshine to Oculus Quest2 at launch!

Hi Questers! TamTu from the Vertigo Games community team here :)

Save the date, because on October 13 you’ll be able to experience the VR zombie apocalypse in the ultimate way: untethered, with enhanced graphics and supporting cross-platform multiplayer on the Oculus Quest ecosystem. That’s right, we’re bringing a newly enhanced version of Arizona Sunshine to Oculus Quest 2 with even uglier zombies (you’ve been warned), full ragdoll physics for a more satisfying zombie shooting experience and visual enhancements overall. We’re thrilled to share that this update will even bring some of these graphical improvements to users on the original Oculus Quest as early as today!

But don’t take our word for it, check out the Arizona Sunshine Quest 2 v Quest 1 Graphics Comparison video here to see the difference for yourself:

https://reddit.com/link/j7fml8/video/tnahqbsu7wr51/player

Here’s an overview of the visual upgrades for Arizona Sunshine on Quest 2:

  • HD zombies with full physics: Even uglier zombies!

  • Enriched world: Blood spatter, foliage, birds, destructible glass & environment zombies

  • Real-time sniper scopes

  • Dynamic lighting and shaders (specular and normal maps)

  • Overall graphic enhancement*

*Also available to players on Oculus Quest 1.

The free enhancement update will even bring some of these graphical improvements to users on the original Oculus Quest as early as today!

While this does drop a beefier install-size onto your headset, it also means all Quest 1 and Quest 2 owners will be able to experience Arizona Sunshine together through crossplay within the Quest ecosystem. This includes all of the game's content released to date: including all Horde Mode Updates and both DLC expansions. We’ve got you covered, no matter what your plans in the scorched apocalypse are!

As always, there will be plenty more zombies to take care of in Arizona Sunshine, and if you are looking for fellow survivors to take on the horde with, there’s always someone to team up with in the official Arizona Sunshine Discord Channel or the official Oculus Group!

UPDATE: I'm getting a lot of questions about 90hz support for Arizona Sunshine on Quest 2 and we’re happy to share that as soon as the beta feature becomes available to us at launch of Quest 2. Oculus says developers can work on implementing this feature on launch, and that’s when the team will be able to look into fully implementing the higher framerate support.
