PSA: Do not use the Red Cross in your game

It's been a while since someone posted this (last one I found was 4 years ago), so here it is for gamedevs who don't know: the Red Cross is a special symbol protected by the Geneva Convention for the Protection of War Victims of 12 August 1949.

Using it in a video game is forbidden and is a direct violation of the convention! Citing the Red Cross website: Misuse of this valued symbol distorts its meaning and its protective value for victims of conflict and the aid workers that assist them.

The artist I'm working with didn't know that rule and was quite surprised when I asked him to change the symbol to something else in the infirmary room of our game :)

TIL Blink 182 removed the red cross from the (adult actress) nurse's hat on their album "Enema of the State" because the American Red Cross told them it was a violation of the Geneva Convention.

The Red Cross has seen a 40% decrease in blood donations over the last 20 years. Experts say Gen Z is to blame.

What is happening with the Red Cross and Blood?

Had a quite frankly harrowing and scary meeting with our OR administration that weekly blood allocations across the nation are running at about 20% of what they should be and we can expect that what normally would get us 7 days worth of 'typical transfusion' requirements will last, at best, two days. That the Red Cross has an emergency supply but that even that is expected to be woefully inadequate.

In an ironic twist, we may be cancelling elective surgeries not because of Covid, or bed space - but actually because of inability to transfuse during surgery if a patient gets into bleeding. It hasn't happened yet but we were told to expect this to get much worse in the next 3-6 months.

TIL the Dr. Heimlich fought against the Red Cross for 20 years over the practice of giving "5 back slaps" being a better alternative to the Heimlich Maneuver.

Would you still donate blood to the red cross?

I recently heard that the red cross has been biased against Israel. source I used to donate blood/blood product to them, now I want to stop. I know blood donation are important, but have mixed feelings about the entire system, and now even more that I would be donating to a organization that supports terrorism. Thoughts?

After Tesla thought aliens contacted him, he described the encounter to the Red Cross...

Nicola Tesla connects to the NHI phenomena in a number of ways, some verifiable, some from leaked government documents that can't be verified with certainty:

  • After experimenting with radio signals, he wrote to the Red Cross,"I have observed electrical actions, which have appeared inexplicable. Faint and uncertain though they were, they have given me a deep conviction and foreknowledge, that ere long all human beings on this globe, as one, will turn their eyes to the firmament above, with feelings of love and reverence, thrilled by the glad news: "Brethren! We have a message from another world, unknown and remote. It reads: one… two… three…"https://www.upworthy.com/after-tesla-thought-aliens-contacted-him-he-described-his-encounter-to-the-red-cross

  • In the leaked 48 page MJ-12 briefing document, Tesla comes up twice. Allegedly, the military gathered evidence from multiple extraterrestrial sources that Tesla had successfully transmitted signals to NHI and NHI had responded. Further, the NHI monitoring human progress were caught off guard by the technological leap not expected for at least another generation. https://web.archive.org/web/20170614101208/http://d3adcc0j1hezoq.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Ultra-Top-Secret-MITD.pdf

  • The most dubious but arguably intriguing connection comes on pages 281-282 of Alien Interview, the deathbed confession of Roswell nurse, Matilda O'Donnell Macelroy (not real name as military put her in witness protection program). Allegedly she was the only ranking officer to communicate with a "transmorphic entity," as explained in the above-leaked document on page E-3-of-6. In a moment of confusion, the military inadvertently left a copy of the transcript with the nurse before threatening her with her life and putting her into hiding. Anyway, her document reads that a transmorphic entity did, in fact, intervene in human affairs by deliberately giving inspiration to Tesla as a way of providing technology that would help humanity progress. https://youtu.be/JOzK4ByFbzo

I would appreciate further insights/ analysis from the community.
