"Murder mystery' was an OK movie, I thought 'Always be my maybe' better.

I checked it out to see what all the hype was and for me, it was a good movie, it was entertaining but nothing great or nothing terrible about it. I thought it was a good time-pass movie. I also saw "Alway be my maybe", and I thought that was better because it had that sense of romance, that awkwardness, that made me like it more.

Always Be My Maybe(2019) is a fantastic rom com

I watched this last night after not seeing it since it was released on Netflix. It's a great movie. Ali Wong and and Randall Park have amazing chemistry. Park's original songs are great too. Keanu Reeves small role is used perfectly. It's not a perfect movie. I think the conclusion is pretty damn cheesy, but it's not enough to derail the movie.

Always be my Maybe... love it!

As an Asian being raised in Vancouver, I love this movie! The whole stereotypical scenes are relevant some of my experiences while growing up here, and the jokes are funny too. Anyone else feel the connection with the movie?

fun SF movie Always be my Maybe

I liked it! Mostly smart and funny and charming.

Posting here bc I enjoyed the SF jokes/references. some of them were the usual SF stereotypes, but others were just slipped in without explanation (micro-spoiler: albino alligator). Also, I kinda enjoyed noticing the shots in SF or obviously not.

[Inspiration] Always Be My Maybe

I recently watched the new Ali Wong & Randall Park romcom on Netflix, "Always Be My Maybe". I was in love with so many of the outfits from the film I just had to create an inspo album. As an Asian-American who grew up in the Bay Area in the same time frame, safe to say I am 100% this movie's target audience. Regardless, if romcoms are your thing I highly recommend this one! No intentional spoilers ahead.

Ali Wong's character wears a lot of bright colors (especially red), high waisted skirts, wide-legged pants, and architectural elements + metallics for her fancy events. Of course, she is never seen without her signature oversized glasses! The costume designer Leesa Evans said that all the featured glasses are from DITA and Gentle Monster. Sorry for some of the quality...not a lot of official photos so I had to do a couple screengrabs.

I was really scared that this movie was going to portray the Asian male lead in this case Randall Park (who's insanely talented and also makes music) as a weak willed man who doesn't stand up for himself in his plight/desperation for love/female lead's approval.

Instead we get complex characters and an interesting relationship dynamic between an Asian American female and male.

I enjoyed the fact the movie didn't let their cultural heritage define the characters but rather elevate them. It treated them as human beings that also happen to be asian.

Not the best movie in the world but a lighthearted netflix film with good asian American representation.

Also I enjoyed the brief AMBW!

Thoughts?
