I had 5 shiny swablu from before the CD, so that was not a motivation for me to play. The XL candy was, and the fact they actually put the mega energy in research quests was just very well received by me. I actually had a good time yesterday looking for those quests specifically.
I have more than enough energy now without having to do raids for it.
Do we think this can be a trend going forward? I guess since Gible CD it was already announced no mega garchomp availability, probably not next months CD. But after that?

Just a heads-up; given the event next week is one of the best in a while, and Mega Altaria is objectively the best Mega to use for it (it’s Dragon and Fairy types cover nearly every single Pokemon spawn and raid), you’ll want to use it as much as possible (unless your other Dragon megas are a higher level, in which case it will come down to how much you want fairy candy).
If you don’t have enough mega energy to keep Altaria mega evolved as much as you’d like for the event, I recommend making it your buddy now (or after the CD tomorrow ends) and walking it as much as possible over the next few days. Consider using poffins too. This will maximise the amount of mega energy you can get before the Twinkling Fantasy event starts.
For the record, it costs 15 mega energy to mega evolve a max mega level Altaria at the start of it’s cooldown.
